We stayed in the Executive tents. I was initially skeptical due to safety concerns but woke up in the morning having slept peacefully. There were more than enough towels, the bedding was clean and the aircon was functioning. The tv worked, was able to catch up on a bit of cricket and soccer. The WiFi is so stable that I managed to make a few calls.

The service from the lady who checked us in and the waitresses during breakfast the following day was brilliant. That was welcome.

My only gripe with them was the lack of hot water for bathing. Otherwise, a very good stop if you want to cross Martin's Drift early or have crossed it late and cannot travel during the night.

I came here with my friends in December 2019. We enjoyed the nice views, the restaurant overlooking the limpopo River. The problem was poor service at the reception. We had to wait long as the receptionist was still manning other duties. Please increase your stuff!!

Group of local campers partied till 4h00 with no intervention by management or security.
Pool was slippery and the sharp tile edges hurt out feet.
I’m sure we’ll find better place near Sherwood next time.

We arrived at Kwanokeng just after sunset on 12/5/2022 after travelling for 16 hours & organised our camp setup. After settling down, one lady in our group went to shower & reported back that she could not shower, as the water was ice cold. The trucks at the Martins Drift Border Post also kept us awake during the night. The next morning there was still no hot water in the ladies' shower & we had to continue our travels to our next stopover without being able to shower. I would not advise a stay over if you are tired & in need if a hot shower

This was the least desirable stop on our 12 day overland safari.
The only pro was our camp-site was on grass.
The bathrooms were terrible, no hot water in the ladies bathrooms so luckily we were the only group there and my sister and I were able to use the men's facilities.
There was some construction happening, so a big pile of rubbish next to what looked like some kind of brick building going up.
And the trucks lined up to cross the border were quite noisy.
The only reason to stay would be that its right on the border.

We stayed at Kwa Nokeng Lodge because it was a convenient stop off point, very near to the Martin’s Drift border post (and there's nowhere else to stay in the area).

We booked a “luxury” safari tent, which turned out to be extremely basic accommodation. The tents are constructed on wooden platforms, with a viewing deck to the front of the tent and ablution area to the rear of the tent. Our tent had 2 single beds and a set of bunk beds, all poorly made out of cheap materials, with thin mattresses. The bathroom was a fairly primitive timber construction, very dimly lit and none too clean. The shower drain was blocked, but the shower had good water pressure. Toiletries were provided in the form of one small bar of unwrapped soap. We had a real problem with insects (not surprising as Kwa Nokeng is built on the banks of the Limpopo) with no effective way of keeping them out of the tent as the zips on both the tent flaps and the insect netting flaps were broken and the insect netting also had several large holes. No mosquito nets, insecticide spray or mosquito coils were provided.

We didn’t use the bar area (it seemed to be the preserve of the staff) but the decked dining area overlooking the Limpopo was pleasant, and shaded by a huge nyala tree. Dinner and breakfast were both indifferent and very overpriced given the poor quality of the food.

The reception staff at check in and departure were apathetic, which didn’t surprise us given that the whole place had an air of neglect and an apparent lack of hands on management.

Like the previous reviewer, we felt that Kwa Nokeng Lodge could, with a little thought and effort, be so much more pleasant than it is.

We also think that if the accommodation on offer is very basic, it’s dishonest to sell it as “luxury” accommodation.

This lodge is absolutely disgusting. It is owned by a local family but it seems to me that the staff own it. They are unfriendly, lazy and unaccommodating. We stayed there for 3 nights as we had car problems. We had no choice but to eat there and were served the same "badly cooked" beef and chicken stew every night. The chalets are nice and comfortable but DSTV was not working on the one nights we stayed. The only person who knew how to fix it was the maintenance man who was not there as he had taken guests on a Game Drive. WHAT DOES A MAINTENANCE MAN KNOW ABOUT GAME VIEWING. The ablution blocks were so dirty I had to shower with my shoes on, the taps were loose and broken and the toilets were not cleaned for 3 days while I was there. There were dead insects and spiders' webs everywhere. The buildings are not maintained and looked like they had not been painted in years.
The staff entertain themselves in the bar area and while guests are trying to have a conversation their loud voices drown out any conversation. The louder you talk the louder they get. There is no manager and no supervision whatsovever and the staff do as they please and make no effort whatsoever to please their guests. They sit in a the bar area and watch their "soccer and soapies" on the TV and have no regard whatsoever for the guests. Don't run a tab at the bar because they cheat and add on drinks you did not have and if they come and take a drinks order at your table you are lucky. We had to go to the bar counter to order our drinks. There was no ice and the drinks were warm. The trucks are noisy at night and keep one awake. On the whole the lodge is conveniently situated and the chalets and grounds are quite nice but the general "I don't care" attitude by the staff is unacceptable and the food is quite disgusting for the price. I will never stay there again. I would rather travel for another hour to Palapye in Botswana or Lephalele in SA and be treated with respect as I am a paying guest. The owners should really catch a wake-up and employ a manager to control things. The venue is not bad and they can really make this place exceptional with the right management. The place is overpriced for what you get. I do not recommend this lodge to anyone crossing the border. This is the first impression of Botswana for tourists coming from all over the world and its definitely not a good one.

Have stayed there 5 times , once voluntarily , the other times forced to as no other place in Martins Drift ...

If you want to get absolutely no value for money , to avoid any form of luxury , to eat the same tough bony stew dinner on every visit , to have some very large rats running over you in your luxury priced chalet or tents , if u want the noise of 20 trucks revving in early hours of morning , rude unfriendly arrogant lazy unwelcoming staff ..who even take over the crappy bar tv watching their own personal preference , faulty Aircon and faulty hot water geysers, ...if u want rough accommodation with no hint of any luxury at ' luxury ' prices , with non existent owners / management , ..if u want to be bored out of your mind , no cable ( Dstv ) tv , no wi fi , surrounded by concentration camp style fencing , to be double charged at the nearby fuel station on your way out ( owned by the lodge ) , then by all means pls pay this lodge a visit ... :-)

Okay for overnight but a place to avoid at weekends and public holidays when outside drinking and an unpleaseant atmosphere around the pool/bar area is the norm. Also noise from lorries across the river can be a problem, though this diminishes the further away from the road you are. Definitely not a place for longer stays - too far from the Tuli reserve, nor for families with young children because of adult antics in the pool area. Atmosphere improves when day visitors go home. Food was okay and service reasonable but attitiude of reception staff left a lot to be desired. Would we stay there again? Yes, if pushed for an overnight stop, but nothing more. There are quieter places with more ambience to be found by driving further up the Tuli Block.

We loved this place! We stayed here twice on our recent trip to Botswana. The staff are really, really nice and very focused on great customer service. One time we got a chalet and the other time we camped. Both were good. The rooms are simple but nice and the bathrooms and showers are lovely. The chalets have nice decks that look out over the river. The campground is small but they have nice fire pits and the ablution block is large, clean and they provided soap (which rarely happens!). We had dinner and breakfast both times and the food was very good. They provide high quality food and the staff cares that you enjoy it.

And you can't beat the location!! Right at the border.
