We loved our stay at the charming Chrislin African Lodge. It oozes all the charm you'd expect from a small lodge in the bush and is full of warm hospitality. Due to the popularity of the lodge, we ended up staying one night in a smaller room and two nights in a larger one, but both were absolutely lovely. I will say that our first room did not have air conditioning so it got a bit warm even with the windows open at night, but the second room had excellent A/C and we were very comfortable; I recommend making sure you get a room with A/C because the windows don't have screens.

The grounds are pristine and the rooms are spotlessly clean. There are wonderful public areas like the open air seating/reading area under a classic thatched roof. There's a swimming pool that was glorious after a long day of game drives. The hospitality was absolutely wonderful. Particularly, Nadia is an amazing hostess and makes sure that every guest feels like a VIP.

Breakfasts were delicious and very filling. Dinner is available each night for a fixed price; it was good but I would have liked a larger dessert. Their milk tart was delicious but I wanted more than a shot glass size. What can I say, I have a sweet tooth and their desserts are divine. There's also some good nearby restaurants so if you have a car you can change up where you eat.

Connected with the lodge is Criss Cross Adventures for game drives in the Addo and other local activities and I cannot recommend them enough. They are an excellent outfit and our game drives were excellent. We did a full day in the Addo and a half day on river canoes and we were totally satisfied.

In closing, I highly recommend Chrislin and Criss Cross Adventures for your stay near the Addo National Park. It was a peaceful, magical place to stay.

It was quite hot for late summer and we didn't have a/c but the ceiling fan kept us cool enough overnight. We enjoyed our two nights. The room was reasonably well equipped and meals ever so good, with reasonable prices for wine. We paid more than usual on the trip for the accommodation but felt that it was good value (especially compared to some of the private game reserves) because it included a full day Addo game drive with CrissCross Adventures. In the afternoon it was just us and our driver, in a big open sided vehicle and we saw lions, and ostrich display, an angry elephant advancing on us and had a wonderful time.

What a find. The place is a haven of tranquility. We stayed in an orchard hut which was quirky and unique. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. HUGE bed, massive shower/ bathroom with plenty of hot water. Lovely area to sit outside and ponder life plus the added bonus of a beautiful pool. The staff cannot do enough for you from check in through to the restaurant and cleaning staff. They get to know you really quickly and are always keen to chat to see how you are, and how your day has gone....they seem genuinely interested rather than going through the motion! Water, tea, coffee provided daily in your room. The restaurant is excellent value ( lunch and dinner) and the food sublime....we wanted to bring the chef home with us! We stayed 3 nights and ate in the restaurant each night as why brother driving our when excellence is on your doorstep. The lodge has links with Crisscross adventures which made booking and pick up for elephant park tour and river safari so easy and simple. Whilst we stayed only 3 nights we felt we had stayed much longer it was so relaxing. Without a doubt we recommend this place and would return if we ever find ourselves in Addo again!

My mother and I are completely happy with our stay at Chrislin Lodge.

Through the Whats App service we were able to book our safari tour in advance. No guesthouse/lodge has ever offered this service on our trip!

They are all very friendly, always smiling, one feels welcome. You can tell that this is a family business.

I have stayed several times in lodges (in South Africa and elsewhere) and I have to admit that it was the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. It was also very clean!
The complex is also very lovely!

During the safari tour there are special offers for the guests of Chrislin Lodge. One is picked up right on the spot and also here, the staff provided us with interesting additional information about the animals.

Dinner and breakfast are made with love. You notice that immediately! The quality and quantity of the food is perfect.

Additionally, we were allowed to use our room a little longer on the day of departure. Thanks again for that!

Stayed at Chrislin aspart of a trip to see England play cricket in PE. From collection at the airport by the wonderful Freddie to everything was absolutely superb. Simple check in escorted you lodge - well laid out for 2 50-something guys. Great beds and shower beautiful veranda.
The real feature dinner (and breakfast) at Sneezewoods part of the facility. You do need to prebook and order but when it arrives wow. The restaurant is fronted by the effervescent Nadia ( hubby is the chef) and as we find out she handles many other things. Whether pork, steak, chicken or beef each dish is superbly crafted, fabulous presentation and up there with the best food I have eaten. Children well catered for too and the whole ambiance a dream. Thanks to Nadia and her attentive and lovely crew. Great wine list with near local and obviously other stunning SA wines. Breakfast too is great plenty of choice from freshly cooked to continental, with great fresh local orange juice.
Guests and staff with happy smiley faces - perfect and more. If you need a work beating experience however long then look no further. Their link up with Crisscross Adventures simply adds to the pleasure.

The lodge is an oasis of peace and quiet. For us, this was the sixth and final stop of our trip. We even booked an extra (third) night here, because we found such peace and quiet in the lodge's huge garden among the citrus groves. With our three children, we stayed in a hut with two adjoining rooms. The word hut is an understatement for the very luxurious feeling of the rooms. This is due to the sober but tasteful decor, the great king size beds and the beautiful bathroom with spacious shower. The huts are cleverly arranged, giving you a great sense of privacy, while both the restaurant (where you can have breakfast and dinner) and the pool and playground (highly appreciated by the kids) are all close by. The lodge has a very family atmosphere because of the friendly presence of owner Linda and her son Chris (who organizes day activities and can take you to unique places that you would never be able to see or do on a regular guided tour - check out his company Criss Cross Adventures). If there is one place in SA where we would come again, it is this one.

We stayed at Chrislin a few weeks ago for a two night stop over and visit to Addo Elephant Park.
Linda & Jean couldn't have made us feel more welcome.
The rooms where very spacious and clean. The grounds are beautifully kept. Breakfast and dinner was excellent.
They arranged a full day guided tour of Addo for us with Chriscross adventure tours. Got to see a huge amount of animals. Chrislin is located very close to the main gate at Addo and is a perfect safe place to stay if you are visiting the area.
You wont be disappointed... great value for money.

After our last visit what was perfect ,3 years back,we found now on a new trip a completely service’s less and aged ,non mentained lodge.
Nobody helping with luggage.,in the lodge, lots of animals, beetles and other insects , comming probable from the roof what needs urgently maintenance.
The kichen choice of 5 dishes, every day the same, serviced in the restaurant by a so called chef in swimming short and slippers.
Choice of 3 wines (due to covid,he had to trow wine away whyle it was to old !!!)
Then the payment,no card machine option ..(to expensive due to covid !!)
Only positive point was the breakfast.

It comes with great disappointment reading your review and that you did not enjoy your stay with us like the last time. We had to stop operating for a long while when Covid hit, and we tried very hard to keep our staff and our business going. We had to scale down on everything hence our card machine was returned as it was too expensive to maintain, however you are still able to pay with a card via our Paygate link, make an electronic bank transfer or a cash payment. When we were allowed to operate again it was with skeleton staff only and having all the Covid protocols in place. With the decline in business, we had to make our menu smaller, to prevent wastage. When business picks up, we will return to “normal” again. We have made a note about the animals and will try and control them better, but they are there for your safety also. We are however pleased you enjoyed breakfast and even decided to stay one night extra. We were very happy to host you again and sincerely hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip.

We can absolutely recommend Chrislin Lodge. The lodge is surrounded by citrus orchards. You live in a small, very comfortable hut, entirely in African style. The breakfast is appropriate, the dinner is absolutely fantastic. All employees are very friendly. The garden and pool are very inviting. A really great location! Best regards Stephanie and Toby

Good Morning , Thank you for your enquiry . While August is August is still in our winter months, over the years Spring has been coming earlier every year. In August we start to see the start of spring, this includes the plant life as well as the bird life. The average temperature could go up to 23 to 24 degrees Celsius. Should the weather not be as good, Crisscross Adventures is equipped to deal with all kinds of Weather. We provide all the gear and equipment that you should need including water resistant wear should it rain. Unless we are experiencing heavy storms and thunder we usually go ahead with our River Safari as you get to see a different side of the area in every weather condition. We look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Marelize Reservations and Bookings CRISSCROSS ADVENTURES | ADDO |EASTERN CAPE| SOUTH AFRICA
