We stayed with Brian, Jean and Dimitri for 3 nights and had a great experience. They makeshift feel at home and it feels like a warm family home. Their help and service is amazing! The location is in a private park which gives awesome views. Furthermore, they can help you organise your activities for the day. Definitely recommend to stay here :)

I treated my elderly Mum to two nights here just for relaxation, peace and rejuvenation. It was the perfect stay. Brian, Jenny, Dmitry, Rusty and Pedro were the perfect hosts and we will be back soon.

The communication in advance was very poor, none of my questions were answered. The meals arrangement was not at all clear despite having asked. My request for gluten free option was well managed for dinner. However the breakfast, which turned out to be continental, was very poor and consisted of cereals, muffins, toast and processed cheese and cocktail sausage. There were hard boiled eggs and slices of watermelon. The dinner was a basic braai followed by ice cream and chocolate sauce, which was vey nice but we did not think it was worth R295. The accommodation was extremely basic, and the layer of dust under the beds must have been there for weeks rather than days. Simple touches like a place to put a toothbrush and a spongebag would make such a difference, as well as an anti mozzie machine. There were no torches or candles in the room, and no plan B in the event of load shedding. There was nothing to do except read a book and nowhere at the chalet to sit except on the bed. The advertised free Wi-Fi was only at the main lodge. we are not sure what TV options there are at the lodge but there is nothing in the room. There was also no fridge in the room for fresh milk, water and fruit etc and only powdered milk and cheap chicory/coffee mix available in the room coffee station. There is a game drive option which is extra and run by a separate organisation. This was very good, and included an excellent meal at the organisation’s restaurant. We had been looking forward to the guided bush walk advertised on the website. However we were advised by the lodge owner that this was no longer available. Our guide on the game drive told us that the walk is still available but by then we’re were due to leave. Another example of the poor communication. The hosts did try hard to make us feel welcome but there does not seem to be much enthusiasm for improvements.

It is unfortunate that your expectation was 5 Star but budget 3 Star we are a 3 Star bush lodge not a city lodge. I have read the correspondence sent to you by my reservation lady and all your questions were answered. Bushwalks were stopped recently due to the introduction of Lions so your guide was either incorrect or misunderstood you which is more to the point as guided bushwalks are available at a completely different venue not on our reserve and also in a section of Addo Elephant Park, you asked me specifically about our reserve. Just to clarify the game drives are not run by a separate organisation they are run by Addo Wildlife and we are based on Addo Wildlife Private Game Reserve. Nowhere do we advertise TV's in the chalets, TV is only available in the Boma area as is Wi-Fi also only available in the main lodge area which you are made aware of. To say that there is no plan "B" in the event of loadshedding is absolutely untrue as we have a large generator which powers the entire lodge besides which we are a bush lodge and many of our guests prefer not to have electricity during loadshedding and prefer to sit in peace and quiet with paraffin lanterns and an open fire, many of our foreign guests do not know what it is like to sit in total silence under the stars and enjoy the experience. As far as torches are concerned every other guest travels with their own torch or uses the torch on their cellphones. It is interesting that your review is completely out of sync with the other guests who were here at the same time as you.

We spent one night here as part of an organized group tour. We arrived late afternoon and spent most of our time around the fire in the dining area. I felt the checking-in process was a bit like the boarding school roll call. Your name gets called out, you get some stern warning and off you go to your tent. The owner was also constantly watching our group during our dinner and after-dinner chats around the fire. I stayed in a permanent tent with 4 single beds and a large dining room table and chairs. It's a nice setup for a family and the bathroom area of the tent was nice. They manage the loadshedding issue quite well too at this camp. The resident dogs were quite the treat to have as companions.

Brian and I were at school together at Queens College Queenstown and this was the first time we'd met since 1968. So my review maybe a bit tilted. we had an absolutely wonderful time and we received top class treatment. Brian is a great host and very attentive to his guests. And then you have the X factor, which is Jenny. She makes sure that everything is running smoothly and does it in her quiet unassuming manner. Brian and Jenny is was a wonderful stay, hope we don't have to wait another 55 years. Blessings Jordie and Merillyn

What a great camp, away from the hustle and bustle. Owners Brian and Jenny are fantastic hosts. Sunrises and sunsets are amazing and at night a great firepit is great for a good chat. Bar is well stocked, and the Glamping is stunning. Beds are comfy and warm and bathrooms are fantastic. Each tent is far away from the next making it feel like you are all on your own. Rusty the Ridgeback is a great welcoming dog

Slept here one night in a Safari tent. It is clear the place once was very nice, but unfortunately in a slightly rundown state. We paid R1848 for 3 people, which is not too much, but then were charged R175 for a small chicken schnitzel (no bigger than my lady hand and no thicker than 1 cm - the kind you buy at Pick a Pay) with a tossed salad (mainly butter lettuce, no tomato) and some chips that was baked in an oven plus a piece of basic garlic bread (not even Ciabata garlic bread which would have been more in line with that price). There was also a choice of desert; ice cream and chocolate sauce or fruit salad (but it was TINNED fruit (for that price?), which I do not eat - I also do not eat ice cream). So our food worked out at R525, which is WAY too much for the food of R45 per plate (max) that was placed before us. I afterwards approached the host and they said they will look at the tariff and they reduced it to R150 each, which is still way too much. What makes this worse is that the place is advertised with BBQ facilities, so we had our own sausage (lekker (duur) braaiwors) to braai for the night, but on the day, on our way there, we were phoned by the host to enquire whether we are eating there, since they do not have self-catering facilities. Thus, we were forced to eat this expensive dinner, even though the place advertise that they have BBQ facilities, which is then false advertising. It left an extremely bad taste in my mouth and was a spoiler on your holiday, which should have been a special family night for personal reasons. The advertised photos/pictures must have been taken at least 5 years back, since there is still remnants of what it used to look like, but plus what looks like hard times (maybe Covid?) or lack of upkeep. Also, because of the false advertising, we sat with expensive braai wors whilst they do not have a refrigerator in the units. There is a coffee station/kitchen thingy (see photos) in the unit with Ricoffy, but no tea for those that cannot do instant chicory blends.

A lovely little gem set in the Eastern Cape bush. Charming chalets and tented sites situated cleverly to afford privacy. Kudu Ridge is the ideal venue for leaving the rat race behind. Hosts are welcoming, accommodating and very helpful.
