Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm is situated 4 km from the Main Gate of the Addo Elephant National Park on a working Citrus Farm. The Citrus part of the Farm is approximately 250ha with an estimated 151 000 individual trees. We have 5 luxury chalets on a B&B basis, nestled on a Mountain top over looking the magnificent Zuurberg Mountains. Our 3 private wooden bush cabin with self-catering facilities are for those real nature lovers situated each on different levels on the hillside in our safari area. Walking distance from the main lodge and parking area. Each bush cabin has its own private out-side flushable toilet and out-side open air shower adjacent to the cabins. The Dung Beetle suites are situated in the succulent valley bushveld vegetation with no view as dung beetle are always hidden, thus leading to a beautiful tranquil surprise in the bush. Walking distance from the main lodge and parking area. The only, true dung beetle inspired accommodation in South Africa! We are ideal for couples, parent-breakaways, honeymooners and also for small group of 10 people sharing. In our Thatched Roof Lapa we prepare traditional South African mouthwatering set meals on the fire while you enjoy a sundowner with us. We only serve in-house dining on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday; booking 2 weeks prior to arrival date is essential.

This is a charming spot surrounded by spekboom, you really are in the bush. However, it is for the younger set. We had elderly people in our grou who battled walking from the car park to the lodges, then the steps up into the lodge were tricky. We had no rail to hold onto, to step up. Whilst the toilets are lovely being outside in the bush, for those who have to get up in the night, it was a step too far! Then the thatch over the toilets was so low that one guest hurt her forehead badly going to the toilet at night. You really have to duck to get below the thatch roof!

Our stay at the Addo Dung Beetle was incredible, from the Dung Beetle Suite we stayed in, the food for breakfasts, the friendly staff and hosts. The knowledge of our hosts with regards to the Addo Elephant Park, the area and its surroundings is impeccable! Very very helpful and very enthusiastic! We couldn’t have been happier and will most certainly be back once we are back in SA again!! Our hosts went out of their way to make it a very memorable weekend for us and we are so thankful for that! Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area!!😁

Guests in the bush cabin behind us played loud music until late, which unfortunately dampened the peaceful environment we were looking for, may we suggest that guests are asked to tone down their music for personal enjoyment only.

We absolutely loved our stay at Dung Beetle. Rod and Magna are super hosts! SO friendly and accomodating, despite difficult times! Even gave us maps every day on where to drive/ what roads to use etc etc. Breakfast was great. Facility very child -friendly: ours loved the uniqueness of the Dung Beetle rooms. We will be back!!!! Thank you so much

Amazing hospitality from Rod and his wife. We stayed in the honeymoon suite on booking.com which was dung beetle 2 which is a bush situated inflated concrete unit. It is very nice for a quick stopover but you need to bring braai meat. Would recommend if it can be afforded to take the bush cabins however or the luxury rooms as the views seemed to be a lot better from there. the farm that this is on is amazing and the views are outstanding. The park is also a stone throw away. Would love to go back not in Covid .
