What a piece of paradise. We loved our stay at Quinta Souto Covo. So comfortable, you had everything you needed and wanted. A fantastic view. With the river running through the property. To have a dip or bring the lounge chair to it. Plus there was the beautiful pool. We could have easily just stayed at the property. So relaxing. Loved the village feel. We often made it our daily walk, calling into the local store for a cuppa. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Tony and Sherrin were the perfect host. Nothing was a bother. Always making sure we were OK. Felt like we were saying goodbye to family when we left. We will certainly be returning. And recommending this to family and friends. You just can't get anything like this stay in a motel.
We just spent the most amazing 10 days in this property and Sherrin and Tony couldn't have been better hosts. You have complete privacy but they are only a door bell's ring away for any help or advice about the local area. Tony would ask if we needed anything from the local supermarket if he was going there and when we had car trouble he immediately offered to help - the sweetest man you could ever wish to meet. We left feeling we were leaving family. The property has stunning views of the surrounding hillside and river which is only a minute's walk from the house. Falling asleep to the sound of the river was the most amazing feeling and we had the best 10 days of sleep we have ever had. It's a great location for families, Sherrin and Tony clearly love children and there are plenty of animals to keep the them happy, not to mention the river to swim in as well as a pool. My 4 children stayed in the house and we rented one of the suites located right next door with it's own entrance. This was a perfect arrangement as we had a bit of peace and quiet and space when needed. There's a cafe in the town which is less than a 5 minute drive away where you couldn't feel any more welcome. We ran out of eggs one morning and the shop was closed. We asked in the cafe if we could possibly buy some eggs from them and they refused to take any money and gave us 6. A perfect example of the most incredible warm and hospitable nature of the Portuguese. We will be back !…
The situation is wonderful, with magnificent views along the wooded valley with the river running through it. The house and lodge are beautifully furnished, and all the rooms enjoy that great view. The sound of the river and the birds add to the tranquility of the setting. Tony and Sherrin couldn't have been better hosts, and the food was great! All in all a terrific experience, and I look forward to returning to this absolute jewel of a place.
The most amazing location with fantastic views and a beautiful house, which is extremely comfortable. The owners Toni and Sherrin are wonderful hosts, giving us a very warm welcome and offering us everything to make our stay enjoyable. I wish we had stayed longer, as this was one of the best weeks of my life. We can't wait to go back and will be definitely recommending to our friends and family .
After days of cities, even the wonderful cities of Portugal, the traveller needs a place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty and rural life of this lovely country. Quinta Souto Covo provides this in spades, with the addition of beautifully appointed rooms and the wonderful hospitality of the hosts, Sherrin and Tony. A welcome cup of tea on arrival, an introduction to the cafe at Reriz for a simple but delicious meal with locals, then wake to the superb view and sumptuous breakfast before heading to the Duoro valley and local wineries and gardens (Quinta da Avaleda at Penafiel a must see) or into Porto. B&B does not get better than this!
