Brilliant location. All apartments perfectly situated overlooking a lovely pool and BBQ area. Safe secure environment.. Stunning beaches within a few minutes drive or a leisurely walk. Golf course and excellent shops nearby. Wonderful value, particularly considering the quality of the accommodation and scenery. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Many local attractions like a crocodile farm and boat trips. Oribi Gorge is a place not to miss took our breath away. Would thoroughly reckonmend Sunny Rock to anyone.

Best holiday venue on the South Coast. Clear and simple.

Spacious and cleverly laid out to provide easy access to thatched relaxation area (Lapa) and social area aswell as beautiful pool. Quiet area with no tourist bustle to spoil your holiday. 10 minutes away from other popular tourist destinations such as Margate and Ramsgate. 5 minutes from two beautiful and quiet beaches and easy driving distance from Durban. Excellent!

I was astounded by what I found upon my arrival to Sunny Rock as I was expecting far less for what I had paid.

Unit amenities and facilities were excellent. They really have gone out of their way to make our stay pleasurable!

Our hosts were very gracious and helpful throughout our entire 10 day stay.

Thank you Sunny Rock!

If you can't afford to stay in the world's best locations, this is the place where you can pretend you can! The grounds of Sunnyrock are immaculately kept and there are three distinct areas for romance: the pool..stunning, the thatched BBQ area with koi pond and water feature....welcoming, the fire pit with roasting forks provided, offer reflective moments under the stars. Night lighting accompanied by the distinctive sounds of African creatures settling in the trees, and the soothing sounds of the waterfall into the pool draw guests outside late into the evening. The artistic design of this property is reflective of the attention to detail of it's European owners, Tom and his wife. The scent of cleanliness of the unit meets one before the door is even opened. Tom was welcoming and helpful, yet because he lives in a separate house, ones privacy is respected. We spent a week there, and although the other units were busy over the weekend and it was noisy, the place was totally ours for the rest of the time. Each unit is designed so that patio privacy is ensured, but each unit overlooks the pool and garden. The unit supplied everything we needed, and we were requested to bring our own towels (did not realize that this included the need to bring kitchen towels as well). Cleaning service is offered on request, which might account for there being no dishwasher or laundry machines in the unit. However, this does provide the local people with employment, which, being as friendly as they are, they can be a welcomed part of your African experience. The bedroom furniture is basic, but comfortable..after all, this is a beach location. The kitchen area is a kitchenette, so there is not a full-sized stove and only a small fridge, so don't stock up on frozen foods.I cannot stress enough the attention to detail in this garden.... I challenge you to find the pool shower which is hidden in a palm tree trunk! Wifi in the unit is weak, but there are spots outside where it can be found. The property is set back a few km from the beach, so a car is needed. First Car Hire in the village offer very inexpensive rates. This property is ideal for multi-family reunions, as there are 5 units in the upper building, and 2 others, I believe, in the lower building.
I rated this property as 4/5 for reasons mentioned, but it is not a critcism, just to let others know that there are a few things which would not put it into a "world-class category"... I did say that you could pretend it is! This place is really magical, practical and welcoming. Thank you Tom for everything!

The chalet itself needs a bit of attention, very small kitchen, lay out not very ideal, kitchen next to the bathroom, I really think the owner needs to pay attention to the cleanliness of the inside of the chalet, there were spider webs everywhere and the bathroom was not good at all, besides it being dirty, it has a disgusting stench of urine , I had to purchase detergents and try to get rid of it on my own. Another area that needs attention is that there is no parking bay for vehicles, u basically have to park on the side of the drive way, with hardly any space to reverse, was actually quite annoying .
on the good side the outdoor areas lokk beautiful, the small pool is well maintained, and the braai area/lapa is also well maintained, and the gardener
ensured that the outdoor areas were always neat n tidy.
The owner was very accommodating though and the southbroom main beach was beautiful, tranquil and very neat.

What a great stay we had. We received a warm welcomed by a very friendly Tom. The apartment was clean, tidy and the natural detail of the gardens creates the utmost tranquil atmosphere which made our stay extremely enjoyable. To sum it up, this is a wonderful oasis well hidden, well maintained and secure.

You really get more than you expect and pay for at Sunny Rock. Tom (the host) is very friendly, generous and makes you feel relaxed and at home. I would say the best feature is the swimming pool (especially at night time) and the lapa area with a koi fish pond.
It is peaceful, private and has a fantastic atmosphere.
The best holiday I had in 12 years!
