This hotel is more a motel than the boutique hotel that it claims to be. We are in the middle of a pandemic and the only sign of a COVID protocol was the Covid Questionnaire we had to fill out at check-in and the hand sanitizer at reception. Nobody checked our temperature (as per protocol) , no sanitizer in the room. All the staff was ONLY wearing a mask when they saw we were approaching the desk or when delivering food to the room. They are certainly not wearing them when together behind the scenes. Our bathroom was covered with dead bugs upon check-in , they only proceeded to clean it about 45 minutes after and sprayed the entire bathroom (with no windows) with DOOM making it impossible to stay in the room for quite a while after that, forcing us to be outside in the freezing cold. The food choices were very much meat based and what we ordered was inedible. We returned our plates pretty much full. The room was not very inviting at all. The staff was friendly and eager to help. We would definitely not recommend this place or stay at any other Country Hotels.

Good day Thank you for the valued review and for taking the time to review us. So sorry about your bad experience. I will make sure the above does not happen again. Thank you for brining it under my attention. I was not aware of the Covid-19 protocol that was not followed as all these are in place and are mandatory to be followed. Enjoy the rest of your trip and safe travels. Warm Regards Christo Lubbe Manager

The Kakamas Hotel has set a new standard for South African road trips. A very high standard, indeed. We felt so fortunate to have booked two nights accommodation on the N 14 between Springbok and Upington, just outside the town of Kakamas in the Northern Cape. The location suited our itinerary perfectly. We travel the world and have done so for years. Seldom have we encountered such a high standard for a "country hotel" anywhere. We were greeted at reception in a most professional manner. What a great first impression. Things kept getting better. We were allocated our room. What a delight. The standard of furniture and fittings plus all conveniences were all first class. Then we went to dinner at the Vergelegen Restaurant. Also first class. The hotel, its owners, Management and Staff team all deserve a huge congratulations on running such a high quality, service oriented business. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. Last but not least - the breakfasts were delicious. You will see us again next year. Thank you once again. PS (A Covid-19 compliant establishment). We have developed huge confidence in hotels owned by Country Hotels and will increasingly support them.

The place is tranquil and the middle of vine yards rooms neat and restaurant part excellent. Would recommend to all my friends and family members. Strategically positioned between augrabies falls and upington orange river boat trips.
