A quick getaway to the quaint countryside in Vredendal. We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and beautiful grounds of Belle Ombre. An old farmhouse stands firm amidst perfectly green lawns and gardens. We decided to take the kids along and Belle Ombre was more than accommodating. We had an exterior room with extra bed for the toddler. Although a cold wintry night we kept warm, had extra blankets and were snug with all the amenities necessary for a pleasurable night away. The breakfast was superb and filling; the staff friendly and very helpful.

Upon our arrival we were immediately impressed by a beautifully manicured, lush green garden which frames the beautiful old farmhouse which is now an inviting guesthouse. We were given a very warm and friendly welcome by Piet, who owns and runs Belle Ombre with his equally friendly wife, Sarah. Our room (Jeripico) was spacious and very clean and was furnished with beautiful antique wood furniture. A flat screen television with digital satellite television, a microwave, kettle (with complementary tea and coffee), and bar fridge with honesty bar and airconditioner completed the picture. Good quality bed linen, a down duvet and a very comfortable mattress made for an excellent night's sleep. We woke up refreshed and enjoyed a tasty bacon and egg breakfast. A Continental

We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon unsure of what to expect. What we found was more than we had hoped for. Our hosts, Sarah & Piet gave us one of the warmest welcomes we have ever received and ensured that we were settled in, comfortable, sure of where everything was and how everything worked. After a long hot day on the road the air conditioner was most welcome and quickly cooled us down. The unit we were allocated was large and light with a kitchen equipped with most things required to prepare a light meal/snack. Breakfast was excellent value and delicious and we enjoyed eating in the dining room of what was the original farmhouse in the area. After a day spent working we enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful garden while we sipped on something cold from the honesty bar. There

The delightful owners and hosts Sarah and Piet went out of there way to make our stay comfortable and where very helpful in assisting us with travel arrangements. The property has a homely feel, is well maintained with lovely manicured gardens and a pool. The rooms are clean, spacious, well appointed and comfortable. You can relax outdoors with a cup of tea/coffee or glass of wine whilst planning the next days travel adventure. Self catering units are available. There is ample secure parking on the property. Full English or Continental style breakfast is available and dinner can be arranged on request, however there are restaurants available close by.
