Great man that owns the place. Made my colleague and I feel at home, explained to us about places around where we can go and have fun. The breakfast was great had nice rooster brood and the view from the place was breath taking.

The rooms at Kat-Ma- Koep Guest House is very welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast is first class and offers also some of the local specialties such as roosterkoek.
The owners was also willing to provide take away meals as we had to leave quite early.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The staff are really helpfull, rooms are clean and tastefully decorated and also practically laid out for self-catering. Thanks for the relaxing stay. I will definitely come back again.

While the main guesthouse looked good, I stayed in one of their extra rooms that does not form part of the main guesthouse. The room was in the back garden of a nearby house, and I did not enjoy my stay. While the staff at the main guesthouse were friendly, the distance from the guesthouse and

We arrived at Kat-Ma-Koep on Friday for a family wedding. Check-in and welcome by the lady of the house was very friendly and the room we were given was very clean and the bed comfortable. It has an air-con which is essential in Vredendal. Upon check-in, we asked about payment options and were told that card payments were fine (there is an ATM across the road, so no problem for us to pay in cash however, we were not informed that cash was the preferred option!)

Breakfast was chaotic as the staff couldn't cope with the amount of people in the dining room, but the guest house only serves breakfast between 08:00 and 09:00 on weekends - bad idea if you are going to be overwhelmed. We were not asked what we wanted for breakfast (everyone else was) and the host dropped 2 plates in front of us within 5 minutes of sitting down despite the fact that other people at our table had been waiting for more than 30min. (The breakfast was huge and delicious, I have to admit!) Service was disappointing however.

Come check-out time: I went to pay and was charged R100 a night MORE than what we were told by my father AND sister-in-law who made the booking. When I said the price we got from the people who booked was different, the host, Bennie, blamed it on MISCOMMUNICATION on our side. He showed me where he wrote our rate in his book in pencil, an amount that was not written in the previous day when his wife showed me the book to make sure everyone in our group was put into rooms. So, in fact, it was a communication error on their side. I made it clear that I had no problem paying the rate, but that it was not what we had agreed. Bennie then, quite rudely, told me that for the rate I had in mind we could go CAMPING IN THE CARAVAN PARK. And went on about how he would NEVER charge these kinds of rates anyway, but gave it to us as a special rate because there were 11 of us and because we PROMISED to pay cash - no such thing was said and his wife confirmed that a card payment was fine. I had to laugh - good thing I am a local girl because with international guests that kind of service won't work.

Never is a long time, but never again. Next time I think I will go and camp in the caravan park.

Oh, and we even brought them extra customers - a foreign couple who was desperately looking for a room. But not again. When I mentioned it to some locals, they all laughed and said that it was nothing new.

Unsafe environment. Our cellphones was stolen from our rooms. Staff doesn't always clean properly shabby old equipment. Good a/c . Rooms neat and cosy. Outside room very noisy workshop of owner is on top of the outside rooms. Can hear floor creaking as they walk and can hear them talking. No privacy. Food is excellent. Owner and staff unfriendly and one doesn't feel comfortable or at home. Owner was not sympathetic when our phones wa stolen from our rooms. We were there on business and we lost all our contacts.

Stayed there for one night and was not too bad,bit old fashioned in the rooms and the TV could do with Supersport 1. The beds are made of wood and makes alot of noises when turning or moving. Furthermore parking is quite close to the rooms and is situated in n quite area.

I would definitely recommend Kat-ma-koep guest house in Vredendal if you and your guests are tiered and your in need of a good dose of some TRULY authentic SOUTH-AFRICAN hospitality give them a shout. My 14 Japanese guests were amazed at the level of service that was given. Katerina and her staff did an amazing job at delivering 5 star breakfast service in a small town lodge and Ronelle took such good care of us last night , with check in providing 2 point plugs, adapters, hairdryer's, international plugs, and I don't know whatever else se plug you can get. DANKIE DANKIE DANKIE TANNIE....thank you thank you thank you auntie. ARGATO!!!!!

Kat ma Koep is a beautiful guesthouse situated in Vredendal. It is close to Restaurants and shops within walking distance. Owners are very welcoming and friendly.

Rooms are small but adequate for business trips or a couples getaway.

Clean, rustic homely feel to the place. Breakfast is great;I recommend the rooster brood, it's delicious.
