The campground has been recently opened and was visited a lot while we where there. There camp sites that you need to register and it looked like some people placed a tent or less to claim and went off. Near the bathrooms are the registration stands to include a information sign. Within the camp ground is a trail to the Arch to see. Visiting the arch may be a problem because and you will need to park outside the campground. You can be fined if your are using a camp space without registering and paying the fee for campground usage.

White Tank Campground in beautiful JoshuaTree National Park is surrounded by some of the most scenic desert landscapes in the US! A great experience for the entire family, couples, seniors or teens. Lots to see and do here and explore! Lots to photograph here including the night time "dark sky" star sky full of millions of stars! Come for a day or camp out-youll love White Tank Campground and the entire Joshua Tree National Park experience! . . . . #joshuatreenationalpark #whitetankcampground #unitedstatesnps #usnps #waynesalvatti #photografxworldwide

This is a first-come, first-serve place and it’s a really cool campground. The sites are tucked into all the big rocks. It’s very scenic. It you like to do some boulder scrambling then this is a good place for that.

The willow campground is a new loop for tents and popup campers and is a beautiful campground. However, weekends it is a hangout for young locals looking to get drunk and party in the desert. The loop desperately needs a loop host onsite as quiet hours are a complete joke. I've been coming to white Tank for the last four years to camp at this time of year and usually stay in the family campground loop but wanted to try out the new willow campground. Won't come back, at least on weekends due to the rowdy behavior. I'm writing this at 1:20 in the morning and for the second weekend in a row there's no sleep to be had thanks to the drinks partying. Come during the week, but stay away Friday and Saturday.

This was my first time camping in Joshua Tree and I specifically chose White Tank for its small size because I enjoy a less crowded experience when I camp. I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and found half the campsites were empty. I chose site #11 and was glad I did. The first night I had no one on either side of me which gave me even more privacy than I expected. The second night provided me with a neighbor in site #10, but they were pretty quiet and the huge boulder separating our two sites meant I couldn't even see them. From my site I had a pretty expansive view of the surrounding desert which gave me the illusion of being alone with my thoughts. Loved it. Plenty of Joshua Trees to see and walk among and a lot of boulders in and around the campground. I found the campground to be pretty peaceful overall and it provided me with a great first-time experience of Joshua Tree. I'll be back!
