Old Fashoined hotel with a killer view!! Free Coffee, great brunch. The Hale Maumau crater is no longer ‘glowing’ red but the recent landscape changes are fasinating, post 2018 eruption. The Volcano House (hotel) is very safe, no worries about the lava, in fact there is no

We had stopped by many times on around-the-island trips, but this was our first overnight stay. The building dates to the 1940s, so no one should be expecting glam resort treatment, but everything was totally comfortable, clean & functional. We were served complimentary mimosas

My partner and I were 1 of 3 groups in here. The food was hit and miss. My partner and I split the lobster/crab cakes and the Kalau pork pizza. The cakes were great, but the pizza was basically a frozen pizza except for the toppings. The drinks were very good. I had one of the

We had a room with 2 double beds...so 4 was no problem. The walk in closet could easily fit a pack n play or kids size air mattress if one of your 5 is a child. I'm not sure if they have any rules about extra guests.

1/2 of the rooms on the first floor face the parking lot. You can request a "crater view" room, but be aware that these "view" rooms are going to cost a bit more. Second floor has much better views. At night the view of the glow from the lava lake is amazing.

Where does one eat there ?
There are several places to eat within a 10 minute drive, but outside of the park. See my reviews of the area for the place I recommend.
