An amazing experience. Got picked up by boat and taken to Forest Camp where we were met by Q our ranger for the next 3 days. The tents are well equipped and even my daughters got over the fact they wouldn't be able to use their straighteners or hair dryers as lights run of solar supply and there's no WIFI which meant we were able to enjoy the whole trip without going on phones. You can charge phones in the main dining room so were able to take many photos. We saw Rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, lions, cubs, baboons, many birds and many more animals, insects, plants whilst on the drives and our Ranger always managed to make the drives fun and informative and found spots to take in a glass of wine and snacks before heading back for a full cooked breakfast or dinner. A great place to meet friendly guests or just relax and enjoy the surroundings and peacefulness of the camp or swim in the river or take a canoe and enjoy the water. The weather was hot but you are supplied with ponchos and rain capes if it cools down on the drives. The visit to Kenton beach for a picnic was beautiful and lovely swimming area. Amazing staff who go over and above to make your stay enjoyable, would highly recommend here and certainly the best safari we have been on with the most wildlife.

Hi Michelle What a wonderful comprehensive Review - its so rewarding for us to receive such a glowing report - thank you! It really makes our day when we get credit for sharing what we're passionate about & love best - our little piece of paradise & all in it - from Elephants to Ants & everything in between! I'm happy to hear that you also enjoyed the activities that the Estuary has to offer - besides the game drives...but no fishing I see? Some guests are lucky enough to catch their own dinner! We're so lucky to live this close to the magnificent pristine Blue Flag beaches of Kenton as it adds a whole new dimension to the Sibuya experience - glad you enjoyed your beach picnic & swim in the Ocean. I'm sure it was a huge surprise for your daughters to discover they could actually interact & have a lot of fun without their hair mod-cons & WIFI - a great experience for the whole family... Wishing you well & happy memories in these testing times. Carol, Q & the Forest Camp Team.

We stayed in the Forest lodge and loved it! We saw the River lodge (more geared to younger families) and the Bush lodge (fancier with AC and real rooms) but we had the best experience. The Glamping Tents are equipped with wood burning stoves full bathrooms and showers (baths too) and porches and river views. The food was incredible and service amazing! The guides were all helpful and knowledgeable and we had Jonno (Johnathan ) who was a rock star. The river rides day and night combined with the morning and afternoon (and night) game drives were amazing. We saw 4/5 of the big five up close (no Jaguar) and loved every minute. The cold July nights were warmed by big fires and hot water bottles and it just added to the adventure. Highly reccomend the Forest Camp.

Greetings 345tripps What a great Review - thank you - we really appreciate the support & are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at Forest Camp with the Team! Jono is delighted at the personal mention & asked me to tell you how much he enjoyed sharing Sibuya with you! Happy to hear that you had good game viewing. After a very harsh drought, we've had lovely rains so the animals & Reserve are looking magnificent. A little correction - we do not have Jaguars but Leopards - which are just as elusive! We hope you enjoy your memories & that you'll be back one day to re-live them. Best wishes for a healthy, happy 2021. Carol, Jono & the Forest Camp Team.

Well the trip to Sibuya is with a motor launch and it is spectacular. Then we stopped for a buffet lunch and all the party had a enjoyable basis lunch. Then we were transported to the game reserve trucks. However we are pensioners and could not climb the ladders. No sooner we mention this, the truck was repositioned to a staircase. In fact the guides made everyone’s day despite you were not as fit or mobile as the youngsters. Huge amount of game, giraffes, rhinos, giraffes and many types of antelope. The three hour tour stops at a remote lodge that has a sophisticated toilet in the bush and then beer, wine, fruit juices etc. So no elephant or leopard but a quality game reserve tour. They are due to appear in a channel 4 programme.

Greetings 'Geordie008' It's wonderful to hear that you had a great day at Sibuya & that the Rangers were able to cater to your every need - thank you for the lovely Review - we appreciate your support! We've had such glorious soaking rains - I'm sure you enjoyed the landscape looking so green & lush...animals feasting & babies everywhere! I'm sorry to hear you were not lucky enough to see the Elephants & the elusive Leopard - perhaps a good reason to visit us again? I had a message over the week-end from an ex-guest from Holland...she says Sibuya was featured in a TV program on Private Game Reserves in South Africa - they were so excited & nostalgic that they wished to be back! I wonder if this is the one you mention? Best wishes & happy memories, Carol & the Sibuya Team.

Note: I originally posted this onthe Sibuya River Camp page but we actually stayed at Forest Camp. Due to Covid, it was the only one open, but I think this was the best location for us anyway! River Camp is geared toward families with younger children. We did have "kids" with us, ranging in age from 13 to 19. Forest Camp was great for all of us.

I loved this place! It reminded me of Maho Bay on St. John (now closed) but with much better accommodations, plus in South Africa! Hopefully someone who reads this will have also been to Maho Bay… . It was quite chilly at night as we were in South Africa in their winter and also just a chilly week, but the “tents” (tents is not exactly what they are as they have nice flooring, full bathrooms, normal furniture, etc.) were still cozy with fires and hot water bottles that the staff placed in our beds before we went in for the night. The staff are just lovely and so helpful. The food was fantastic — every single meal — and they accommodated our dietary restrictions. I loved kayaking on the river and I’m sure we would have gone swimming in just a bit warmer temperatures. We saw so many animals on our safari drives every time and loved our guide (Jono), who was informative, entertaining with lots of stories, super patient with all of our questions, and a great driver! I very much recommend this place.

For a first safari this was more than expected! Hearing a lot of stories about other game reserve, this one is very green. To get at the lodging you’ll need a boatrip first! And there is were the party started! Some drinks to get in the mood together with some nice sight-seeing stories from Calem and Lynique. After 45 min, deep on the river/ forest there was our main basecamp. Not so very basic at all. Only the solar power and no mobile internet. Lodging in the tent was pure luxury! This game reserve was in our honeymoon journey across South-Africa due And even that the staff knew (kudos Lisa)! We had a great first evening with a romantic table at the fireplace with some sparkling wine. What a treat! Cruising between the animmals was a superb experience! Our ranger Calem explained everything - highly trained and experienced! Between the morning and afternoon game driving there was some time to relax or even do some fishing! Another great experience with JP, who knows his fishing and snakes! Breakfast, lunch and diner are on top level. Leon knows his braai!
Do we saw the big 5? No, 3 out of 5 isn’t that bad at all. The experience it elf and the great reserve of Sibuya topped it all together with this great staff!

We spent a wonderful day at Sibuya. The boat ride, our guide (Dave), the lunch under the trees, the game drive, the animals....it was all fantastic. We would highly recommend this if you are in the area. I am sure even better if you can stay over in one of the tented camps but we were delighted with our day.

Big shout out to Luke our Ranger for the day trip!! We’ve been a few times, and always have a great day. We missed the elephants, but so much more to see and getting up close to the rhino is always such a special experience! It stands out from other safaris by combining the river trip with the game drive. Hope to be back soon!

Your trip starts with checkin in town and your bags are whisked off.
Then on to the boat up river to the camp. Our trip took about an hour as our very knowledgable guide pointed out the varied birds around the river.
Rooms at the camp are completely remote and secluded but with easy access by boardwalk.
Lovely bed, nice fire in the evening and being able to have a shower while looking out into the bush is an experience. If you need to chil out then spend time on the deck looking at the wildlife over the river.
Meals were great and sitting round the fire for pre and post drinks was wonderful
Excellent experience.
