Wonderful 3 day safari, very relaxed in Lodge & great ranger Trust. Marred only by very young children on drives. Added stress for ranger & as child couldn’t keep quiet, nor father keep seated we had to leave lion viewing for safety reasons. Spa excellent and food very plentiful.

It is an excellent resort with highly professional and friendly staff. The game-drive-guides were passionated and we saw their respect for nature en wild-live. All promises made to see the animals in the park were met. Thank you for a great experience!!

What is the evening dress code ?
We were there 4 weeks ago and dress code wasn’t really anything different to the day - you go out for your afternoon drive at 15:30 in cargos/trousers/jeans plus shirts and fleeces and you got back around 18:30, went straight into the informal lounge / bar as you are for a drink (beer / wine or coke / hot chocolate for the kids) and then straight into dinner at 7pm.

Hi we are going here in a couple of weeks, can you tell me what you wear for day and night please Thank you
Just stayed at Main Lodge - very relaxed dress code - casual all the way. Layer up for the drives - t shirt, 2 X fleeces, brim hat & sunglasses. A pashmina type scarf is handy to keep head & neck warm. Its cool in early morning & late evening but hot during day. No need for special safari gear at all - wish I hadn't worried about it too! Jeans or light weight trekking trousers are fine - none of our group needed to change over three days. Trainers/runners fine for footwear. Relax & enjoy and don't bring too many clothes! Site shop has great selection of items if you do need anything at fair prices. Bring binoculars!

Hi we are staying here in November can anyone advise on what weather is like please?
There are links to the local weather, including historical averages, on the Kariega website FAQ page (last link on the Experience sub-menu). The Accuweather site has a month tab and the average min is 16C and max 26C in the last week of November. They also have current and extended forecasts. Worldweatheronline's website says averages are 18 to 19C with 21 days of rain (total of 109.5mm). It is good advice to bring a warm jacket with a hood, long trousers and closed shoes. You will be out on the open vehicle in the early morning and late afternoon/early evening and so you will be exposed to the elements. Blankets and rain ponchos are provided. Have a great time on safari.

Hi Sarah, myself and my wife will be visiting your reserve towards the end of February and wondered what clothes we should pack for the safaris? This will become first visit to South Africa and also would like to know what sort of temperaturescwe could expect for our visit? Many thanks Martin
Hi Martin, Great news that you will be visiting us at Kariega for a safari at the end of February. We have all the information that you need on our FAQ page on our website. TripAdvisor will not permit me to add the link so I suggest that you Google "Kariega FAQ" or else visit our website, click on the Experience navigation and select FAQ as the last sub-menu item. There are links to average temperatures plus a list of what to pack.
