Detailed Reviews

We have been here on multiple occasions, the rooms are ok but need improvement about mold and cleanliness. It doesn't match the price for that part. The grounds of Tanjung Lesung are beautiful, if you stay there you can visit each place for free. We love the beaches, hence the 4 stars. Resto needs improvement about freshness of food. The beach club has so mamy mosquitoes and rubbish on the ground... but, we enjoy the watersports and the instructors are very helpful. There is also a surfing wave here, as an advanced surfer, I plan to try sometime. It's a nice escape. The Mongolian museum is also interesting. Beautiful swimming pool and views. Bikes are available to rent.

Been here 10 years ago, and now after tsunami, the hotel still well maintain and even better with better arrangement / landscape in the beach side, also more area to visit, beach, golf etc. With new toll road, its only 3 hours driving from Jakarta. The Hotel was very peaceful, great place for relaxing. can play in the beach, nice pool and many others activity (bicycle, badminton, jogging and others beach activity). breakfast at the hotel was standard and not to much restaurant near the Hotel, mostly seafood and meat ball. would be good if we bring food or snack for enjoying the nature here.

Hi,
When we checked in at noon we were the only family and we thought ... well, this is going to be a nice and quite weekend. Thirty minutes later the tour buses arrived and hundreds of employees of an Indonesian petrol company arrived for a team building workshop. All cottages were occupied by the company and the mayhem began: military-style team building events, guys in kakis and fake machine guns, loud pop-music and never ending pep talks. We decided to leave after three hours...
The management, however, was very helpful and put us in one of the nearby resorts (Sailing Club). We were reimbursed and had a wonderful weekend - not in the Tajung Lesung Resort though.
My advice: call the hotel in advance and ask whether they have any company events during your planned stay.

We had a great few days at this hotel. The cottage was good, had everything we needed.
The hotel offers many activities that were especially good with the kids, such as cycling, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, water polo and of course the big pool and the beach..

This is the first time that I have been disappointed and angry enough to write a letter following a visit to a hotel. Our experience at Bay Villas was beyond poor. And the fact that this hotel is rated anything more than a two star is misleading and dishonest.
Our two bedroom villa was not only dirty, but the sheets on the beds and the pillows were stained, the bottom of the bathtub was chipped and coming apart, the toilet didn't flush properly, there was no hot water for showers, the telephone didn't work, and the air conditioning units in both bedrooms were broken. On the first night of our stay, multiple requests to the front desk for a clean set of sheets and a working telephone were ignored. And as a result of the broken AC units, we had to pull the mattresses off the beds and put them in the main room so that we could sleep in the only room that had air conditioning.
Furthermore, the service at the restaurant was horrible. To begin with, the wait staff could not get our drink orders right. Then, we were told that we could order pizza for our kids, only to be told nearly 25 minutes later that it was not possible. We then ordered spaghetti and it took nearly an hour to get it. By the time it arrived our meal was long over.
And finally, my husband's attempts to speak with a property Manager on two separate occasions were met with excuses and refusals.
We have learned our lesson about Indonesian owned and operated hotels...they're far from western standards.

Was out very late this year, trying to find at cottage or hotel for new years weekend and I had almost given up. Then by incident I found the Tanjung Lesung Sailing Club's website, and contacted them. They responded very quickly, and confirmed they had available cottages.
Went there together with my girlfriend for 2 nights, and I must say it was a very positive experience. We were welcomed very warmly by the owner (a distinguished english gentleman Mr. David Baylis), and his staff. They really did their best to make this new years a positive experience for us in every way (among other things we all had a great dinner together on new years eve). The place is clean, well maintained and the prices are absolutely fair. We are definately coming back, and I can higly recommend this place for others who would like some days in a nice cottage right at the waterfront).

we stayed at Kalicaa Villa and this was our 3rd visit there. We search at the web that at tanjung lesung we can try to wind surfing at the sailing club. On October 8, 2011, we went there to rent the boat. We park the car at the right place although almost no sign at all. So we are a bit confuse. We dicided to walk trough the gate near the restaurant. I saw an old english man, we though he is the tourist who stay there. The old man just passing trough the gate near restaurant. So we followed that man and enter trough that gate. We just enter about 2 meters, suddenly that old man yelling at us and said that we enter the sailing club hotel without permission and he keep yelling that the sailing club is privat place and we can not enter. He said rudely to us that we have to get out, sailing club is this old man hotel and we couldn't enter there if not he will call the police.
What kind of shocking experience for us, because we never ever in our whole life being treat harsh way in the tourist place. We travel a lot, all of the people we met were very nice and respectful to us.
At the end we find out that an old english man is Mr.D. Who said that saling club is welcome to the visitors ? My kids were very shock also. My daddy became so angry also because he never been treated as rude and disrespectful like the way Mr.D at the sailing club tanjung lesung did.
Kalicaa villa, Bay villa and the Blue fish Hotel are very good and treat us nice and respect except the sailing club is only ruin our beautiful holiday.

After having heard a lot of news on Tanjung Lesung and knowing this resort for many years but never stayed - we finally booked and stayed 2 nights in the Zamrud cottage!! Of course we checked reviews etc and were prepared for a typical Indonesian resort - beautiful when new but quickly run down due to none or bad management/maintenance. However - we were very positively surprised: beautiful location, friendly staff and well maintained facilities!! Of course it has an Indonesian touch but we were not at all disappointed!! Actually very happy and satisfied. Note - we were there a some quite days. For sure we would like to come back.

Sorry i cant, but you can download app traveloka in playstore or google store, it is trusted application in Indonesia provide hotel, rent car Etc
Not really. If you want to go for snorkeling i would recommend you to take a boat and go to visit krakatau volcano and surrounding areas, that are better for snorkeling.
Hi, since your're planning to come with 12 person in total so i recommend you to use the villa. the private pool is not to big. but if you wanna use the big one they have it in the tanjung lesung hotel public facilities. so you can use the private pool for family chat at night or any family activities at night.
Tanjung lesung hotel and kalicaa are still in the same area. but for the distance, i don't think it's walk-able. But if you use a car. you can use your car to travel all around the tanjung lesung and park your car in front of your villa.
the maintenance is quite good. just pick up the phone, and the room service will come.
have fun,
Jelly
The units our group stayed in hadn't been made over but they were in very good condition; several units around us close to the restaraunt and pool area were being done up. The gardens were immaculate.
