We had a wonderful impromptu stay at Moonshine on Whiskey Creek and we were not disappointed. Beautiful quaint chalet with an awesome view and lovely birdsongs. Great friendly service from the hosts. Would definitely go back.

Eight of us were privileged to be allowed a single night stay during a hectic tour of the Klein Karoo and Garden Route. We now cannot wait to return for a longer visit; there was not enough time for us to fully explore the property or surrounding attractions. Our welcome was wonderful, and perfectly timed; everything about the accommodation was explained in full and the cabins were well-appointed, clean and all we could have hoped for. Nothing was too much trouble for Carol and our visit could not have been improved - except by staying longer!

We had a lovely break - tucked away in nature. So private. The cabin was very well maintained as was the whole complex. Very comfortable and quiet. We had everything we needed in the cabin for a short break. Lovely hot shower and free wifi.

It felt like we had left reality and did fly to the moon. We spent five nights in this handcrafted cabin; you can see and feel the love that went into building this quirky, cleverly designed space that feels like a luxurious treehouse. Thoughtful and well-equipped, whist crisp, clean linen and the best views. I especially enjoyed lying in our cosy cabin gazing away at the stars. Sue and Anton are experienced and warm hosts; you are sure to enjoy complete privacy and comfort in a safe and immaculately clean, beautiful space.

It was our peaceful encounter with nature after many hardworking days inland. We were looking for an adventure and needed to get closer to nature. There's nothing like going off grid but still feeling like your at home and comfortable. Our Treehouse was just the adventure our family of 5 needed. Beautiful views of birds and mountains, Hiking down to the waterfall was really fun and the kids enjoyed the play area on the premises, Albert and Sue are amazing hosts with a detailed welcome I felt I was in safe hands. They thought about everything a family with young kids need to have an awesome adventure. Thank you Albert and Sue for your hospitality and care. Oh and the amazing sweet chilli sauce 😉

Moon Shine on Whiskey Creek offers a delightful and somewhat quirky holiday experience. The accommodation site has plenty to offer for the more adventurous at heart! The cabin is incredible, well constructed, interesting and adorable. The best part is the outdoor shower on your private balcony and the raised bed next to a window with panoramic views of the forests in the distance. Did I mention you can invite nature into the cabin by lowering the window next to the bed?! The Pros: Easy to find and well-marked next to the N2. The cabin was clean, neat, well-equipped and a joy to stay at! Staying at the cabin you feel at one with nature and have a sense of freedom. The view of the forests and mountains from the balcony and outdoor shower is breathtaking. Sue’s welcome when we arrived was excellent. She was very friendly, accommodating and gave us plenty of info about the hikes you can do right from your cabin; you don’t even have to drive anywhere! We felt safe and at ease throughout our stay. I love that the owners recycle and request organic waste from food scraps be kept for their compost heap and chickens. You experience bird life and birdsong right from your balcony. Knysna loeries came to visit a few times. Good wifi. There is a solar jar and torch on the key in the event of loadshedding. PLENTY to do and see in the area and surrounding towns. There is an awesome pool and play area available. The best part of visiting Moonshine is that you have almost private access to Whiskey Creek! A short and well-marked hike through a beautiful forest takes you down to the creek. Here you find a lovely stream that leads you to a natural pool and waterfall! That was such a treat! I wish we had warmer weather as I would have liked to stay there the whole afternoon! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Moon Shine on Whiskey Creek comes highly recommended, especially to nature lovers! The Cons and suggestions: I’m not a fan of removing trees, though I feel like the view from the cabin could be cleared up a bit. At night you can hear trucks passing by on the N2. Some boards against the cabin (I assume for waterproofing), can do with a lick of paint or a cover of sorts. The mirror over the sink and showerhead are very low and a bit awkward for taller people.

We were blown away by our hosts friendliness and the cleanliness of Butterfly cottage, our home for 7 nights. The rest of our family stayed in Tree Frog forest cabin which was also very clean and absolutely beautiful being high up in the forest trees. This was just what we needed after such a challenging year! There are no faults to Moon Shine! What I also loved was the ability to continue our recycling, that rain water was the water used, with filtered, fresh water available from a separate tap in the kitchen, and lastly, that all food waste was collected to feed their chickens. Showering in the beautiful Gaudi-esque shower was simply wonderful. We will be returning!!!! Thank you Albert & Sue for sharing your dream special place with us! Grant & Tracy

My wife and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at the "fly me to the moon" cabin and we could not have been happier. From the very beginning Sue and Albert were so accommodating, even after I had to shuffle the departure date around. We loved all the little details within the cabin and Alberts' workmanship is fantastic. We would highly recommend anyone wanting some time away to spending it among the trees in this amazing cabin. Cant wait to come back. Thank you again. The Horns

This is probably the most peaceful, calming and energising place in which we have ever stayed. A log cabin in the indigenous forest built, maintained and serviced in harmony with nature. Albert and Sue have created something really special in Moon Shine on Whiskey Creek. We went for a walk down through the forest to a waterfall and pool. It was a lovely experience to walk through completely natural forest. We would love to return and spend more time in this fantastic place.
