Right by the highway, with very spacious and newly revamped rooms, featuring two double beds and superb bathroom fittings, I thoroughly recommend this stay. The second sitting for dinner is at 7pm and the kitchen closes at 8pm. Room service can be ordered up until 7:30pm. The roast leg of lamb is typical Karoo lamb and really good!! Staff is friendly and efficient. There’s a swimming pool for the kids, lawns to run around on and DSTV. It’s best to call for a room.
A very quaint old Hotel/Motel with all the old world charm. The newly renovated rooms in E block are comfortable and clean Dinner service in the restaurant was an amazing experience with generous portions of delicious lamb and at very reasonable prices. Service was efficient and friendly
We overnighted there driving from Cape Town to Bloemfontein, we had a great supper , this hotel although being old the rooms are spacious and comfortable, good value for money .great plus is that you can park right in front of your door , making it easy for your luggage.
I have stayed here numerous times as I travel this route fairly regularly, functionally its a very basic overnight stop, the rooms are clean and functional and the staff try hard, but if you are hoping for something cozy like winter sheets or an electric blanket in the icy Karoo winters, this is probably not the place for you, everything is of the utmost basic utility, from the cheapest brand of coffee in the room to the threadbare towels to the utilitarian sheets and covers, it has perhaps seen its best years.
We stayed at Merino on our way to george and on the way back and we are very impressed and happy with this place. Will recommend to anyone who wants to travel. Nice big rooms and comfy beds. The pool is a bonus in 40 degree heat
