With six generations, the current custodians Penny Southey, Lexi and Grant Stocks are actively involved in running both the farming enterprise and the lodges. Really great comfortable accommodation in the Stables with a stunning view over the Karoo and space for our dog to relax. Our pre ordered meal was delicious too. Location is perfect for a break on the long Cape Town to Johannesburg haul.

What a pleasure it was to arrive at the Stable Cottages of Kuilfontien after a long trip from Johannesburg. We were greeted by the friendly staff and shown to our room where a homemade rusk and a cup of tea restored our energy. Had a lovely wander around the beautiful gardens and then popped in the charming bar where we met a delightful couple with whom we chatted over a glass of wine, chosen from the extensive list. Then the 3-course dinner awaited in the adjacent "stable" where we met yet another charming couple who are regulars at Kuilfontein. The sweet owners (6th generation I believe) even popped into the dining room to say hello despite the late hour. Food (and company) were delicious and we had a great night's sleep on the comfy beds before a full breakfast before our departure. It was a perfect stay and we can't wait to come back. Kuilfontein is so well situated as a stop-over when traveling between Gauteng and the Cape.Very convenient just off the N1. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the food was good. The Paddocs works well for families and you have everything you need.

Absolutely excellent, friendly staff, lovely self-catering unit and we were provided with a great pre- cooked meal. We found that the stopover was exactly halfway between Howick and Cape Town. I would recommend Kuilfontein Stable Cottages as ideal and good value for money.

The owner was very friendly and all staff members very friendly with excellent service! The food was excellent! The hole setup feels like you are on holiday and its special to relax there for a overnight stay with all the fresh air and friendly people surrounding you!

An overnight stay at the Kuilfontein Paddocks cottages was a treat- wish we could have stayed longer! We had everything we needed, including the food in the fridge which we had pre-ordered from the menu, and breakfast goodies too! would highly recommend this tranquil stop.

Kuilfontein Stables Cottages is a must sleepover or getaway destination for anyone traveling through Colesberg. The hospitality is out of this world and the views are a plus. we love staying here with our family and furbabies are also welcome.
