My boyfriend and I stayed here for six nights and very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff was so accommodating and helpful. Big shout out to Senthil for always making sure we had everything and that our stay was as comfortable as possible. He messaged us every morning with details regarding food for the day and he was always just a whatsapp message away to answer any questions we could've had. Our dive instructor, Stef (sorry if the name is wrong!) was also so great and made our experience diving there excellent. The property was beautiful, our room was excellent and the spa was another great highlight, the women there were excellent. The resort did its best with limited staff and covid still looming. The only minor complaint we had would be regarding food and the times the food was available. I do think the limitations regarding the food was due to covid and the limited staff, and the limited guests, so that is understandable. But we did pay for all inclusive but most of the time missed breakfast because it was served so early and then service stopped, and it did become a little annoying to eat at all the same places everyday, so we became bored with the food. We would also get hungry at night because dinner service was done by 9:30, they did have in-villa dining for after hours, but this would be paid for out of pocket. Lastly, our mini fridge wasn't getting restocked without reminding the staff to restock it, and that amenity was a part of our all inclusive package. We also thought that the mini fridge would have some alcohol in it but there was only 2 cans of beer. And we had believed that paying for all inclusive would include alcohol in your room. But again, I believe all these limitations were due to the trouble that covid has caused, and overall we had an amazing stay and would recommend this resort but after they are operating with full staff and back to "normal."

I stayed at Centara Grand Island with my husband and our 3 kids (ages 12, 11 and 9) during the Easter of 2021. We had the holidays of a lifetime, filled with joy, laughter and unforgettable experiences. Dinning Teppanyaki and diving with Turtles were the kids favorite moments. My husband and I enjoyed the Spa and a very romantic last-minute renewal of vows ceremony. Although not planned in advance, the Centara team - specially the competent and friendly Mr. Alok and Mr.Susi - helped us make our dream come true. Together the team organized a complete event for the five of us in less than 48 hours! Mind you, a tent decorated with flowers awaited us by the sunset on the beach. Followed by a precious open air dinner, with lobster, champaign and wedding cake. The photographer Ahuzam registered all in stunning pictures that are now decorating our living room back home. In all senses and for all senses it was the best holidays we ever had. We strongly recommend and are looking froward to returning to the Maldives!

We booked Centara Grand for 7 nights. The room we selected was the Premier Pool Kind Overwater Villa with the Grand All Inclusive package. We were two adults and a teenage daughter. This was our third trip to the Maldives and the first one to Centara Grand. The arrival at Male airport was uneventful and we were swiftly met by the hotel representatives. To our wonder, our seaplane was ready and we promptly departed for the hotel. This was great especially since Centara Grand does not have a lounge at the airport. We were mat at the resort by Mr Sentil who checked us in. The room was wonderful and roomy. The weather took a turn for the worse the second day and we requested to be shifted to the Two Bedroom Family Beach Villa. They complied with our request but made us pay $500 per night more. I thought this was quite unfair as the room we had booked was a higher category and more expensive. So paying additional money for a down grade was not appreciated. I wouldn't have opted for the downgrade but the severity of the waves hitting the overwater villa was such that the entire villa was shaking. Plus being a smoker, there wasn't a dry place to smoke as it was constantly raining. Anyway, no more complaints, both villas were amazing. The Two bedroom beach villa was really big and well planned. The bad weather impacted pretty much everything as we were not able to avail any of the sunset cruises. The food was great, the service perfect and our checkout was handled expertly. The positives: 1. Great food at the Suan Bua restaurant courtesy of the chef Wow. Even the fried rice was amazing and the coconut ice cream was divine. 2. Sentil is amazing and handled every one of our requests promptly. The complementary wine, minibar, room cleaning etc were handled very smoothly. 3. Sushita the Food and Beverage manager is great. 4. The Italian restaurant Azzuri Mare is amazing with the more delicious pizza you can imagine. 5. Reef restaurant is pretty good. The food at Coral bar is equally great. 6. Faruk and Kiki were wonderful organizing everything. 7. Last but the best positive is Satish, the mixologist at Coral Bar. This is the guy that single handedly made our entire trip worth it. This is the kind of bartender one needs on a vacation. His knowledge of wines is excellent and suggested unbelievable wine pairings with our food. His knowledge of mixology is far greater than one can believe. We asked him to make us a cocktail off the menu and what he made was pretty much a nectar from heaven. Countless hours were spent sampling and then shooting the various liquors at the bar. When I had a sore throat, a hot cognac cocktail fixed me up. My friend got an espresso cocktail shot which was unbelieve. The Negatives: 1. The seaplane back was ill timed and resulted in us getting to the airport one hour before take off time. Not their fault probably as the seaplane is handled by TMA. 2. No buggy service. The island is quite small though so a walk end to end is 5 mins max. 3. The Kids Club. The major factor in our choice of the resort was the Kids Club as it was advertised as a great place. We travelled with our friends who have two young children. The children hated the kids club as most activities has to be pre booked and there was no accommodation if we had not booked it. This was very strange as other kids club at resorts do not require this. 4. Below average spa which was a surprise considering Centara is a Thai chain. The hair dressing was equally bad. All in all, it was a good trip made better by Satish. They should give him a medal. Also a resort where the company makes the difference. Had we been travelling alone, we probably would have booked a different resort.

It is a good resort with good sealife. House reef is good. But hospitality is not that good. I asked for water to get refilled and they said initially it would take at least an hour or two. When we asked for to cleaning they said they can't do it before 5-6 hours. And we didn't ask at add hours. It was around 9 am. For replenishing the bar we had to call them again and waste our time. Spread at the buffet restaurant can be improved. Quality and taste was also below par. Other restaurants are good. They created a lot of fuss while checkout. Our flight was at 3 pm and they made us leave the island at 8 or 8:30 am. And that too informed us at 9pm the previous night. There were other guests too who faced the similar problem but since they argued and fought they were given another flight later in the day around 11. But our flight was not changed. Overall my conclusion they are biased towards people from Europe and US. They don't want to settle things smoothly. If you howl and argue you will get things otherwise you won't. We didn't want to spoil the holiday with petty fights and howling, so had to let go a few things. There are many other better resorts with same price. Please check out them too before booking this.

After our honeymoon we decided to come back to celebrate our 10 th Wedding anniversary. Covid came & stayed but thankfully after 1.5 years we were able to travel. What an amazing hotel! The staff bent over backwards to make our stay memorable. My husband enjoyed diving & the Spa was my spot. The villas were spacious & the deck with built in sunbeds was our favorite place to stargaze in the evening. Special thanks to The Resort Manager Mr Satish Narayan, the amazing cocktails from Sathish Easwaran & the masseuse Hato! I would recommend this resort not only for couples but they have plenty of activities for children.
