My husband and I recently returned from a wonderful stay at Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge. We were with a group of 16…this was our second visit and once again, it didn’t disappoint. Everything from the food, to the accommodations, to the game drives/animal sightings (thank you Jian!), to the wonderful service was excellent. Gotta love those Ranger’s Specials! The abundant wildlife - elephants, lions, giraffes, cheetah, zebra, both white and the rare black rhino, ostrich, plus so many more was amazing, plus we had the once in a lifetime experience of participating in a conservation rhino dehorning which protects the rhino from being killed by poachers. Melissa and her staff are especially gracious and hospitable… they make you feel so welcome…and we were very sad when it came time to leave! Thank you again, Leopard Mountain, for a truly remarkable visit! We hope to return some day!…
My son was married last Saturday and some of his Scottish relatives came out to SA for the first time. A friend suggested Leopard Mountain for a quick overnight safari for them, as their time was limited. I accompanied them. We were blown away by every aspect of Leopard Mountain. The experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish, the only drawback being that we only had one night. The staff, the accommodation, the service and the facility with it's most incredible view was for us all exceptional. We are so grateful to all at Leopard Mountain for the most stunning and memorable experience anyone could wish to have. I would recommend Leopard Mountain to everyone.
You can read any of my former reviews of this place, and nothing has changed except for the better! We missed two years due to the virus situation, but we were finally able to return this month with 16 people from the USA. This was one of our most anticipated places! For starters, we were surprised when we arrived in Durban because instead of a Sprinter with a trailer, we had been given a bus! I didn’t think it would be able to make it into some of the places we visit, and Leopard Mountain was one of those. However, the coach was easily able to make it about 13 km into the park, but not the last few km up to the lodge. So, the lodge manager arranged for two game viewer Landcruisers (and another vehicle for our luggage) to meet us at the bottom of the mountain. They met us with refreshments, and hot, moist towels! What a fantastic beginning to a three day stay! Melissa van Rooyen and her staff do a superb job taking care of their guests. The bungalows are thatched, well situated with good views, and clean and comfortable. This provides a great “safari feel”. Meals are fantastic, too. Breakfast is extensive, and the lunch is light. However, not too long after lunch, they provide a “high tea“ just before the afternoon game drive. In the evening, there is a superb meal around a fire under the stars! Game viewing seems to get better from year to year. This year, we saw virtually everything you go on a safari to see! The only thing we didn’t see was a leopard. That’s normal. They are nocturnal, and difficult to see almost anywhere you go. Even though I heard one at night, it’s difficult to see them during the daytime. We did see five black rhino, and that is a very rare sight! It’s always hard to leave Leopard Mountain in Lodge. All 16 of us had a fantastic time. If you’re in this part of the country, and are looking for a safari experience, this is the place!…
It was after 8years that we were back at Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed being back. The staff is amazing as always, nothing is too much. Food superb!! Alex our ranger on the game drive went out of his way to find what we were looking for and more. The first night he spotted a Cheetah with 4 (1 month old) cubs, not seen by him before. They were actually running around the vehicle to everyone's excitement. The next morning he followed the tracks of Lion, to find 4 Lion devouring a kill in the grass. And these were just some of the highlights. We will definitely be back!
We (my 80 year old Dad, my wife and 11 year old son) had the most amazing trip to Leopard Mountain. It surpassed all our expectations in so many ways … the staff (I have to call out George in the restaurant), the food (beyond amazing), the expertise of our guide Jian (blown away by her knowledge and professionalism). In addition the team were aware that I was coeliac (need gluten free options) and I have never been anywhere in the world which turned out the quality of gluten free food to meet my requirements. The wildlife was genuinely out of this world and the location like nothing we have experienced ever. We can’t thank the team enough for the most wonderful experience … truly special ! From you Irish friends …
A few years ago while visiting Leopard Mountain, my spouse to be and I agreed that Leopard Mountain was the most beautiful place we had ever seen. So we decided to hold our wedding there! We booked all nine rooms for four days, and our guests traveled from all over, but mostly from the US. Everyone was blown away! The views, the friendliness, the animals, the beauty, the wonderful food and wine, everything really. It could not have been more perfect! And the wedding in the bush, complete with a Nyala visit during our photos, was spectacular! Thank you Melissa, Craig, George, Alex, Sean, Graham, and so many others. It was the trip of a lifetime! ❤️❤️❤️
I would like to thank the team at Leopard Mountain Lodge for giving me such an amazing birthday experience. From the moment we were greeted by the beautiful Nosipho and her team the adventure and spoils did not stop. The staff were exceptional on their own and a big thank you to Cebile and our very charming guide Alex who really was such a fountain of information and a joy to spend those hours in the bush with. The food is truly world class and a big thank you to the darling chefs who made me the most delicious five star birthday cake as a sunrise safari spoil. This is truly living a five star holiday with the bonus of being out in the most spectacular wildlife setting this country has to offer. The suites can be compared to the best ocean front property rooms but with views of the bush that cannot be beaten. The animal sightings are breathtaking but the highlight of my trip was the Rhino Dehorning program that we got to participate in. It is a once in a lifetime experience that no South African who wants to preserve our heritage should miss. The professionalism and humanity that the team carries out this work is soul touching. Again, thank you to Chris for arranging this for us. If you do nothing else but sit back and enjoy the food and views, at least donate to this beautiful initiative that this Lodge supports. Definitely going back in spring for our next adventure. You will not regret the stay here.…
We had the most amazing time! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and the attention to detail and all the spoils and special touches was completely unexpected and so appreciated! The staff is fantastic, going above and beyond without ever making you feel like anything is effort. Beautiful spot to just relax and enjoy!
What an incredible stay at this very special place! The quality of the service we received was of an exceptionally high standard. From the moment we arrived and were greeted at our car, to the moment we checked out, we were treated like family that had come home even though this was our first stay here. The daily game drives were a highlight and our guide Graeme was extremely knowledgable and accommodating to our group. The hot water bottles and blankets ready to be used first thing in the fresh autumn mornings, were welcome special touches and one example of many small things the staff do to make your stay extra special. The buffet breakfasts, afternoon tea and 3 course dinners were all exceptional and of a 5 star standard. We loved the Boma dinners both nights we stayed as not all resorts offer this even if the weather permits, some only offer it on weekends. What stood out the most for us was the welcoming vibe of everyone that works here, the sense of belonging and culture that you can’t help feel as a guest, everyone is part of a team and they all work amazingly together to make your stay complete. Special mention to Melissa, Chris, Graeme, Martin & Chris and the many others working diligently behind the scenes. We definitely left after our short 2 night stay feeling part of the Leopard Mountain family, making new friends and longing for our next stay. Thanks for a great stay!…
Already the drive in the beautiful Manyoni Private Game Reserve is a highlight, we were welcomed by zebras, impalas, Nyalas, Wharthogs and Giraffes. Arriving at the lodge, we were thrilled by the warm welcome, welcome drink in a wonderful lodge, harmoniously embedded in the most beautiful nature. The chalet is huge, all eco with the finest materials, a dream with lots of privacy, plunge pool and outdoor shower. The game drives were all a highlight. The park with its special nature is a beautiful spot. Wonderful animal encounters, top rangers, we ate fantastically (just a little too much).
