Thank you very much. The break was superb, we enjoyed the weather, it was definitely a great bush experience. The lodge was fantastic. I didn't find anything out of place, the staff where exemplary, very friendly, helpful and well organized. James the game ranger was one of a kind very very knowledgeable, the food was delicious and to the point, what was more the chef went out of his way to prepare low carb and sugar free meals for my wife. She was over the moon we have never been anywhere that would go out of their way to create a meal for a certain deitry requirement to that extent. Well done to the Sous Chef at Leopard mountain he is an asset for sure. The room was perfect the plunge pool and outside shower where fantastic and the rooms privacy well thought of especially for that added intamacy. I also found the minibar prices very reasonable so much so that even though the lodge does not have a traditional bar one could easily have a couple a sundowners without breaking the bank. Again the staff made the effort for suger free mixes and almond milk etc.

Well done Leopard mountain an outstanding lodge a must visit for anyone. I'm sure to be back again.

We arrived on Xmas Day for a 2 night stay at this beautiful lodge, from the moment we arrived to our departure, we loved every minute.

The chalets are wonderfully appointed with every luxury available, due to the heat & humidity we spent most of our time in the plunge pool & lazing on the hammock overlooking leopard mountain. We even had a few mum & baby Nyala's visit for a drink from the pool which was very special! I awoke one morning to a herd for 50ish Impala's including super cute babies running in front of our chalet.

The game drives were fantastic, some special moments included a Cheetah hunt & witnessing / driving beside a herd of about 40 Wildebeest running with 6 calves. Our ranger mentioned this was her most special Wildebeest experience!

Chef didn't disappoint with exquisite treats & excellent food every meal, a special thank you for the delicious chocolate cake for my husband's birthday one morning game drive! The private wine cellar has a fabulous array of wines to accompany your evening meal.

The main lodge is beautifully designed with picture perfect views over Manyoni Game Reserve, a lovely location for afternoon drinks / afternoon tea.

The Leopard Mountain team are friendly and very accommodating, thank you all for your wonderful service! We happily recommend this incredible lodge and hope to return next time we're in South Africa!

All I can say is, wow wow WOW! Where to even begin!?

My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the incredible Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge. Incredible is definitely an understatement!

Upon arrival, you are treated to 5 star treatment with the personal touch of everyone knowing your name, greeting you and guiding you to the panoramic views of the wilderness where you are treated to absolute luxury and personal care and attention.

The rooms far exceeded any expectations we might have had. Pure luxury, comfort and overall style. You are transformed from city life into the wilderness in style with your own panoramic view of the entire reserve. You have your own small pool to cool down when the heat gets a bit too much and a hammock for lazing with your binoculars spotting the incredible variety of animals and birdlife roaming the reserve.

From the moment you arrive you feel safe and are cared for,

The food is of impeccable standard and you are never left hungry. Did they fly the chef in from overseas?

The Game Drives are not your ordinary experience. Our guide Graeme was nothing short of an expert in his field, He was professional, experienced and you felt safe in the open vehicle with him guiding the way. He has a passion and joy for the outdoors and most importantly respect for the animals. This ensured all his guests felt comfortable being up and close to wildlife.

The reserve showcases incredible animals and pure nature at its best. You are definitely at peace and one with nature. We saw all sorts but seeing a cheetah and two male lions up close was the highlight!

If you're in need of some further relaxation, the Spa is a place to visit! We had the full body couples massage. And to be completely honest, we battled to walk out of the spa. We were so relaxed and chilled! Utmost professionalism by both staff at the Spa ensured our enjoyment even more.

Although travelling during COVID times (over New Year 2020/2021), we felt safe and healthy at all times and at no risk by or to staff or guests. Staff at the lodge took COVID very seriously and we were grateful for that. You will undoubtedly feel safe given the tremendous amount of space you have and the cleanliness the lodge constantly offers.

Overall a majestic experience. We will be coming back to spot the Leopard!

Spent 2 nights at Leopard Mountain in December and had the most fabulous experience. A huge storm approached just before we were due to go on our first drive, and a decision was made to delay the start. This didn't disappoint. Sitting on the main deck of the lodge, up on the hill, the view of the storm was something worth experiencing. The staff were amazing and ensured that our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed, and it was wonderful to see the river in front of the lodge begin to flow.
We were fortunate to be teamed up with James on the game viewer, who had a vast knowledge of the fauna and flora of the reserve, along with the extensive birdlife of the area. Amongst other amazing close encounters, we had arguably THE best sighting of black rhino ever.
The food was delicious (we rolled out of there), and all the staff that we came into contact with were exceptional. An excellent alternative to the game reserves of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, and definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended!

Thank you for your review of your time spent with us. A Zululand storm is an amazing sight to behold and you are very fortunate to see the Msunduze river in flow. James will be pleased to hear you enjoyed his knowledge of the reserve and what it has to offer. Black rhinos sightings are always a treat especially the ones who stick around. Rolling out is how we like to see guests leave. We are glad that the staff were exceptional. We strive to be an exceptional lodge. Warm Regards Melissa and the Leopard Mountain team.

From the moment we arrived at the lodge we were welcomed by staff who went out of their way to make our stay so very enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was extremely comfortable with beautiful views and even the locals came to drink from our plunge pool. The food was extremely good and the attention to detail was much appreciated by us. The game drives were everything you could wish for with expert guides who were happy to share their knowledge. The diversity of habitat is some of the best we have experienced in many years of safari holidays and the valleys and mountains were quite breathtaking . Again the diversity of the animals and birds was everything you could wish for. Spend some time at this Lodge as in our opinion you will not be disappointed.

i don't know where to start. this is one of the places you visit and can't tell what pleased you more, the place itself, the service or the staff and its actually a combination of all 3.
from the moment you enter manyoni game park and park up at the reception you are greeted by the staff whom start introducing you to the true African spirit. and how they r going to be dedicated to pamper you for the rest of your stay.
Mzi is one of the best hosts we have ever seen, keen to let you on every detail that would make your stay more enjoyable, very attentive to your every need, never forgets them and makes sure you are enjoying your stay. and above all would step all the way out of his line of work to tell you all he can about zululand, their, culture, languages and the park itself and that shows how passionate he is about his work. Special thanks to Mzi you are a lovely person!

Jian our game ranger is definitely not the normal girl you know! i was really fond of her excellent driving skills, especially when a storm hit us and we had to get back to the lodge. her experience and knowledge about every little creature out there, how she never gets bored of answering all your questions and never gets tired of explaining to you everything all through the game drives and she made such an effort showing us a black rhin which is very rare!! Special thanks to Jian, you made my first game drive experience a very special one!

the suite itself is amazing right in the middle of the bush. (see picture) as a piece of advice choose a place that in between game drives you could entertain yourself. even if you would pay more, think about it at the end of the day you stay at this place for ex. which is half the price of leopard mountain and still pay for your food your game drives and above all you haven't stayed in a good place, you missed not he level of luxury and in between game drives stuck at your hut doing nothing. at the end you would have paid a little less than leopard mountain and other luxury places but enjoyed much less.

the food quality is outstanding. could increase portions a little bit but with 3 meals and 3 snacks a day it pays off actually.

Ayanda from the spa has magical hands!!

to each and everyone of the staff i thank you!

We stayed here for 2 nights in January. We had booked, then cancelled. Then when we finally made it to SA, we rebooked on a very special deal. Lodge was very flexible with refund, cancellations etc.

Lodge: the entrance is a bit dark and old fashioned but the back end of communal area has been done up and is light and modern. The viewing deck is lovely with lots of seats and space
I missed a swimming pool. Each room has a little plunge pool but it’s no substitute for a proper pool. There is a garden/ pond area but it’s in my view a wasted space.

Rooms: very comfortable with firm large bed, large bathroom, outdoor shower, plunge pool and large deck with comfy seating. Views are great onto the dry river bed where I saw 2 rhinos roam

Food: excellent quality, plenty choice and plenty of it.

Staff: all wonderful. Melissa the manager is amazing and runs a well organised operation

Game drives: good birding , good sightings

Excellent stay, would stay again

Dear Sharon and Brendon Thank you for your kind words and review of your stay with us and for rebooking after canceling. The view from the deck is most definitely one of the favourites. We are glad that you enjoyed the chalets and the facilities and views, always amazing seeing a rhino in the river from the comfort of your deck. The chefs will be pleased to hear their food was excellent. There are definitely some amazing sightings happening on the reserve and some really special birds on the reserve, we are glad you got to see some of the amazing birdlife we have to offer. We hope to welcome you back for another excellent stay. Warm regards Melissa and the Leopard Mountain team.

Besides the incredible location and views across the valley and riverbed the accommodation and facilities at Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge were absolutely first class. The rooms were always fresh and spotless and the lodge and meals were of an exceptional standard. Staff were very friendly and always willing to help and we felt very welcome. Our game ranger was also very knowledgeable and went out of her way to make sure we maximised our game viewing.

All in all just a great all round experience which was thoroughly enjoyed leaving us with wonderful memories. Highly recommended.

My husband and I visited the lodge recently to celebrate our 50th Birthdays. We had an amazing getaway. The room was very luxurious and comfortable. The views are spectacular and we had awesome service with such friendly staff. Seeing wildlife walking around the lodge and in your garden is such a lovely sight to see. The food was very tasty and we even sampled some delicious wine from the private wine cellar. George who showed us to our room was very helpful and attentive to all our needs. Our guide for the weekend was James and he has a wealth of information which made the game drives very interesting. We learnt so much about trees, flowers, birds and small insects as well as seeing the other amazing wildlife available on the reserve. Thank you to you all for making the weekend a special one to remember. Hope to be back soon.

Dear Paul and Nicole, Thanks you for choosing Leopard Mountain as the place to celebrate your special occasions. The views from the lodge and chalets definitely are some of the most spectacular on the reserve. Everyone loves a pet so having the relaxed and habituated Nyala wandering around make it feel like home. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the food and the wines on offer. George is definitely a key asset to the team at Leopard Mountain. It is amazing to hear that James could take you on these drives and teach you something and in different aspects of the wild. We look forward to welcoming you back one day soon. Warm regards, Melissa and the Leopard Mountain Team

Leopard Mountain Lodge provided us a 3 night stay to be remembered for a long time. Celebrated our 50yr wedding anniversary in style. Spacious secluded serviced chalets each with a plunge pool overlooking a river below with scenery to forever. Resident Nyala and warthog in the lodge grounds. A well stocked curio shop and wine cellar. The main lodge was well appointed with an extended balcony for viewing and relaxing. The main lodge and chalets were spotlessly clean - also very aware of Covid requirements.
The service and food was tops, prepared by a professional chef and George, all food was hot, plentiful and delicious. Compliments to the chef and George. All staff were outstanding, helpful and made you feel very important. Melissa and Ingrid keep up the good work.
The reserve has the big 5 with abundant birds, animals and plants. Our safari guide James was a walking encyclopedia and expert tracker, eyes everywhere, spoor on the road and birds in the air. Our list to tick off sightings was almost full. James you are so knowledgeable, an expert in your field. I'm told the lodge only employs the very best safari guides.

Is there a malaria issue in this area?
7 contributions1 helpful vote
Good morning, Based on the map found on their website and also published in the booklet, Malaria advice for southern Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa, it classifies us as a Low Risk Area. Within this classification they advise that no anti-malarial drugs are taken. They have also stated in this booklet, under the heading “Prevention: Personal Protection,” ‘Malaria mosquitoes only bite after dark. The best prevention is personal protection against the malaria mosquito. Wear long sleeves and trousers in the late afternoon and night, and stay indoors if possible. The latter advice is however often difficult to follow when on holiday in the topics. Effective protection may be obtained by using a repellent on exposed skin. Additional protection may be obtained by applying repellent to clothes as mosquitoes will often bite through clothes. Aerosol repellents can be used on clothes and also give more effective coverage of exposed skin than a ‘stick’ or ‘roll on’. These are useful for application to areas such as the face, where an aerosol may affect sensitive areas (e.g. eyes).…’ At Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge, none of our rooms have mosquito nets, should you wish one in your room please contact reception. We also provide ‘Peaceful Sleep’ in the cupboard in your room. I hope this helps :-) Kind regards, The Leopard Mountain Team

I have been taking groups to this lodge from the USA for a number of years. We’ve seen virtually EVERYTHING in this game reserve except wild dogs and leopard. We’ve heard them at night, but have never seen one. I take my groups also to Motswari Lodge up in Timbavati, and we have never gone there WITHOUT seeing a leopard. This last year (July, 2019) we saw four!!

Well... the car consists of four rows . First row is driver + spare seat n then each row behind has three seats each. The car would fit 11. But I doubt they will pack the car up. Max i ha din one of the game drives were 8 passengers total. Still relatively comfortable.
