We went with four families (19 people in all) for three nights and four days. We booked out the entire camp which has about 10 rooms. Each room is en suite with Aircon. Rooms are serviced daily. This is self catering except that the lodge kitchen staff did all the cooking and clearing up afterwards! Best of both worlds. This allowed us to come and go as we pleased. We had great game sightings and the elephant interaction is not to be missed. Not the luxury of those high-end speciality lodges like Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve or Phinda, but honestly not far off those. We had two dedicated rangers who took us for morning and evening game drives. Our friends from the UK thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was an opportunity for them to unwind and relax in the bush veld. I

The guide was amazing, you are told the elephants story first and then they make their own way into the pens. They genuinely love human interaction and the elephant handlers spend the whole day with them to keep them happy but don't control where they go at all. You get to feed the elephants, touch them and learn all about them and the elephant species. A once in a life time experience.

We stayed at nearby Rhino River Lodge and drove up to Bayete Zulu. I have already previously done an elephant interaction with friends near JHB but my husband missed out due to work commitments. He wasn't fussed either way but found the experience fantastic. When we saw Rambo walking over the hill, honestly, I just thought ... WT#?!!! He is HUGE! And a gentle giant. His wife Rachel and juvenile Jubulani are also amazing to interact with. This is not some huge commercial venture or circus act either - the ellies roam the reserve freely by day and interact with the wild ellies. It's clear they, especially Rambo, enjoy the human interaction also, they are not forced to do anything and when you hear their story, you can appreciate why. It's a credit to the team who

We visited having had 4 fantastic nights at nearby Leopard Mountain Game Lodge on the recommendation of our daughter, who loved it. Unfortunately our visit coincided with a large tour group. Whilst the talk was interesting, it was very short as most of the time was taken processing a large queue of visitors (30 people) looking to have their photo taken with the elephants. If we had know that there was a large tour group, we would have chosen a different day when we expect there would have been time to learn more about these amazing animals.

We decided about a year ago, when we had seen the lodge, this was "the place" we wanted to get married at. Finally this past weekend we had our wedding at Bayete Zulu (Self catering but amazing lodge!) This place is amazing, the rooms are neat and tidy, all fitted with Aircons which is a must in KZN, The baths are to die for! A big bubble bath is exactly what you need after a day in the bush! The kids area is enclosed, secure and there are so many things for them to do in there. The best part is, you and you family hire out the entire lodge exclusively to yourself, no strangers in sight! It is self catering, but Bayete took it up a notch, there is a huge kitchen in the boma are, with the most amazing chefs! not to mention getting to do the elephant interaction with Rambo, Rachel
