Ancarene has been exceptionally helpful assisting us in moving our booking and being flexible to wait until our Covid tests came back t confirm out appt. Maskham is located beneath the Maskham Mountains and has amazing views The self catering cottages were well appointed, clean and private. Ancarene is a gracious host and provided us with a very tasty evening meal as we had driven over 1100 km to be there by sunset (you must order this in advance). I would highly recommend Maskham Guestfarm for a 1 or 2 night stay if you want to explore the area.

We stayed a week at Maskan Guest Farm and did our day trips from here. Suikerbekkie is well equipped to do your own cooking, lovely shower and bathroom, double bed fitted with electric blankets ( we needed those with an unexpected coldfront) Tv, Wi-Fi and two lounge chairs to relax, outside braai with a garden table and two chairs. We wake up in the morning overlooking the dam with great views of the Maskam mountain range. They offer their own flower route on the farm or otherwise take a walk and enjoy the fresh air.
Ancarene will go out of her way to ensure that everything is in order and is a very good hostess. Your tomato and Chilli jam gets a full 10/10.

The location was quiet and restful. We enjoyed the wide open spaces and the beautiful sunset. The gas geyser ensured that we were all able to enjoy a hot shower. The hot water also made washing dishes much easier. The beds were comfortable and all of us had a restful night's sleep. The chairs and table on the protected veranda made for most pleasant relaxation as we sipped our drinks facing the wonderful view.
The hosts were friendly and helpful - when our accommodation for the following night fell through and Maskam not being able to accommodate us, they were willing to phone around to find accommodation for us.

The setting of this property is magnificent. It is right in the middle of nowhere, with the most beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding area. The hostess is amazing and very hands on. Nothing is too much to ask for. I highly recommend the lunch/dinner option available. At a R150 per person, it is excellent value for money. The hostess also makes and sells jams, that I can highly recommend. Organic hand-picked rooibos tea is also available at R 30 a packet. I really enjoyed our 6 day stay. It is safe and beautiful here. I went out for a run alone early in the morning, without any issue.
The property is nothing grand and quite basic. However, you have everything you need.
I suppose it very much depends on what you are looking for. The property suits the uncomplicated and simplistic environment and we were quite comfortable with our 2 small kids.
They have DSTV and free wifi, which were great bonuses.

Without a doubt one of our favourite visits in the past few years! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owner's and their lovely dogs. The extremely welcoming owner's served the restaurant that was very flexible (appreciate this!) and deserves special thanks. We had two great meals, which obviously also added up to the total experience. A great cup of rooibos organic tea and homemade cake finished off the superb meal.

On the second day's visit, we did an enjoyable walk, trekking the farm to view the Namaqualand flower sceptical. We truly enjoyed walking the approx 9 km. The scenery was beautiful, beyond words, and it was fabulous and relaxing to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment.

We will return to visit again next year for a few days longer.

Maskam Guest Farm is a lovely stay. I would recommend a two night stay over in order to explore the nearby area. Ancarene is a great host, make sure you get some of the bread and meat that they have for sale, it is fantastic. The view over the mountain while having a braai is the most beautiful thing, and you get to appreciate the stars in all their glory. You'll definitely see us again.

If you need a place to rest your head en route to Namaqua National Park or further up the West Coast
then Maskam Farm is a very welcoming place indeed. The farm has sheep, sweet potatoes and rooibos tea. Accommodation is in two farm cottages - one is split between two, the other freestanding. Both are a short walk from the main farmstead, Ancarene is a welcoming host...the breakfast is HUGE and will certainly set you up for the day's travel. You can also request dinner which again is hearty farm fare. If not BBQ/Braai facilities are available. Wood can be purchased if needed. In addition, there are farm goodies are available to purchase - jams, rooibos tea, even lamb from the farm....we enjoyed our stay. tremendously.....also had plenty of visits from a friendly dog named Frenchie who loves to welcome visitors. If in this area again we wouldn't hesitate to return.

We have been on the farm last year in August and September as a day visitor driving their flower route.
We arrived after sundown and Ancarene took us to our cottage and made us feel at home.

After a good night's rest on beds with quality mattresses, the following morning we were greeted by the sounds of birds, peacocks and sheep occasionally bleating in the distance and the most breath-taking panoramic view of the Maskam and Gifberg mountains all around us. Everything in nature existing in peace and harmony.

In the flower season there is also the carpet of flowers all around one to add colour to your stay.

After checking out, we spent quite some time driving the flower route on their farm and only left the farm at 15H00 fully refreshed. In a few weeks time other varieties of flowers will be in bloom. We were thankful that we could still see the Lasiospermum brachyglossum known in Afrikaans as “knoppiesopslag” that flower early still in bloom.

We would have liked to stay longer, but this is the busy flower season and we were glad to find an opening on very short notice for one night. We will definitely come and stay here again, even when it is not the Namaqualand flower season.

We stayed here As a stopover during the flower season The farm has its own self drives and walking paths which we liked and we could go into the Van Rhynsdorp area to see more flowers. The farm is 10 km from town so you must come self sufficient to self cater. Kitchen has all the basics
