Detailed Reviews
We arrived with lots of luggage, the room had easy to organise storage space. The bathroom had room for shower gel and shampoo where it was easy to reach when needed. Everything was spotlessly clean, the friendly staff had an eye for the detail that makes for a pleasant stay.
The first place we have stayed where everything worked.
The restaurant severed good food at reasonable prices, we eat in each night.
The view over the valley to Courchevel is lovely in the day and at night.
The ski lift is very convenient, a short walk on the same level.
A great place to ski from.

Stayed from Christmas Eve until January 2nd, a really nice hotel very close to the Champagny telecabine, the bar area is warm and comfortable and all of the staff are really great, the manager (or possibly owner) couldn't have done more for us. We only ate in the restaurant once as we found the menu a bit limited, but we are hard to please on that front. The room was clean and you could actually put the beds together as a double without noticing, which is very rare for The Alps in our experience, breakfast was plentiful and unhurried.
All in all a great trip, thanks to the staff of Hotel Ancolie for making our stay so relaxing and pleasurable.

Literally a 2 min max walk to main lift. Great helpful staff. Think this would be a great area to visit in summer too but we were on a ski weekend. Champagny en Vanoise was a great find, great skiing especially in magic hour first thing before anyone has come over from La Plagne.
Hotel room was spotless, at front with views and balcony, not much space with third bed in for our daughter but that’s ok. Hotel is dog friendly. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. Will sell you ski pass. Breakfast was good buffet style. Restaurant next door has very odd menu and we weren’t wowed by the food but is a very easy walk to village centre with quite a few eateries to chose from. We were able to park easily by hotel too. Husband enjoyed the bar and homemade olives also!

We have spent in this hotel 4 nights in August 2011. It is a nice location, in an roughly unspoiled natural environement, with a lot of interesting places within driving distance. The hotel is quite nice, has an open air pool natural heated and is near a huge (few hundreds places) public parking. For us (a family of 2 adults 1.87 m and 1.78 m tall, respectively and a 1,55 m tall boy) the greatly unpleasant surprise was the fact that our room, on the top floor, had a tilted roof. As one can see in the photos attached, the bed for our boy was in a very peculiar "second room" that had about his height at the door and zero on the opposite part! The maid that one day came to clean the room had to stay on her knees to clean the "children room". When having a shower, I had to stay bended not to hit my head on the tilted roof of the bathroom!

We stayed here for 3 nights and were in a room with stunning views over to Courchevel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ate in the restaurant every day and found the cuisine excellent.

Champagny is a charming old village with sympathetic modern additions. The gondola up to the La Plagne skiing leaves from the top of the village, which is on a fairly steep slope, but with a public lift connecting to the square with shops and restaurants. The single piste back to the village has snow cannons but isn't great for nervous skiers. Courchevel and Pralognan skiing a very easy drive away if you want a change.
L'Ancolie is up at the top of the village, giving a very easy, flat walk to the gondola or down via the lift to the centre. No hotel carpark as such but plenty of free spaces on the street and the nearby public carpark. The view to the Vanoise national park and Courchevel is gorgeous, particularly in the late afternoon. You can leave skis and boots in a secure heated room at street level. A sauna in the pocket-sized room in the basement costs 12 euros - well worth it after a day pounding the pistes but make sure le patron doesn't set the heat to harcore Finnish levels!
The hotel staff were friendly and eager to please and managed well with a predominantly English-speaking clientele. Paradiski lift passes on sale at reception, billed to room - very handy when on a short trip and buying daily passes.
The hotel restaurant is well worth visiting for delicious local dishes and cuisine française. Hotel guests seem to get priority for reservations.
Rooms perfectly OK but no-frills - in a particularly cold spell in January, another blanket and some more effective heating might have been nice. Bathrooms look brand-new.
All in all, so much nicer than a modern resort village holiday (ie the rest of La Plagne) but just as convenient. Looks to be the pick of the choices in Champagny and I would definitely return.

Obviously a family run hotel, as staff so friendly yet professional. Rooms clean with modern , recently renovated bathrooms. We had triple room with balcony south facing looking across to courchevel. Bar has pool table and open log fire. Relaxing after hard day in the slopes!!
Food is good , although , no choice menu. We were on half board . One of our party could not eat fish one night but was offered rabbit as an alternative, so very accommodating .
Well done to the owner and your team.

This hotel is conveniently located near the gondola, making both winter and summer holidays easy. We've done both. Mr pelican and Germain always make you comfortable. Expensive for Champagny but it is worth the extra for its standard. The restaurant is superb, food quality and savoyard specialities are top notch. It is worth a visit, this little village is very special, this hotel is very much part of it.

I really don't like it when you can hear your neighbours talking through the walls of the rooms. Floors would need some refreshing. The room we got was very small with a very small window. Breakfast rather late on Sunday morning (starting at 7 30). Never found out how to get the shower (vs. bath). Parking may prove difficult in busy season

We had a fabulous trip to Hotel Ancolie with another family last week. Location is awesome, SO close to the ski lifts our kids could manage to carry their own skis! Close to village and bars etc (although we spent many a night chatting at the in house bar with the super delightful hosts!). Great ski location, easily able to get to La Plagne via easy blue runs making it a perfect family ski resort. We only had dinners at hotel (although next time would do half board!), the food was great, and service lovely. Also meet lots of other lovely french and british groups, always so friendly.
