We enjoyed our experience at Finfoot! The staff are so well trained to make your experience memorable! A nice relaxing getaway. Enjoyed the Lake Barge ride particularly!. Megan greeted us at the car and checked that we were comfortable the whole time!

What an exceptional stay! Our intention was to unplug from our daily hustle and bustle to recharge in nature and Finfoot provided that in a way we did not expect. Having the freedom to take bush walks (guided and unguided) allowed us to see 5 species of antelope, zebra and giraffe on foot. Not to mention the huge variety of bird life to be stalked and photographed. The rooms are well equipped with a decent coffee maker and small fridge for drinks and snacks and the black out curtains might make one late for breakfast! Speaking of food - true South African tastes and hospitality made for highly enjoyable mealtimes. A weekend is a tad short to experience all the activities on offer, but the sundowner barge trip is a must. Sad that the hyacinths made their way to this beautiful dam, making it difficult to get close to shore. A big thank you to the team for an unforgettable experience!…

The facilities were great and the staff exceptional in making us feel totally at home. Four day experience very enjoyable. If you are looking for the "big five" forget it. that means that you can go for safe bush-walks, even on your own. Remember, in the wild there are no direction "signs" thus it is safer to go on guided "bush-walks". There were plenty of activities to keep us busy over the four days.

Where do I even begin... approx 800 meters from the reception we hit something obliterated our tyre (run flats) so we made it to reception just fine. This could have ruined the weekend already but my mind was blown at just how amazing the staff were helping my husband sort it all out. Let me be clear, the young men and manager Sarel, kind and courteous always literally changed the tyre, Sarel the manager drove to Rustenburg and and got us a new tyre. This was later replaced on our vehicle. Lets just say my husband was saved the inconvenience of having to drive out, procure a new tyre and change the tyre himself. We could have been told that this was not their concern but from the onset we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The husband was able to join us on the ample pre-pre-booked activities that were planned. The staff was kind and courteous at all times , overly so not that I am complaining. The activities from the (anxiety provoking rowing activity in the morning) in hindsight was amazing - I would like to do this again in the summer. The boat cruise was amazing ( we could do with some champers in the variety of drinks but that is not a deal breaker). The snacks were well enjoyed by everyone. The game drive in the morning was also simply amazing - we were lucky to see all the animal variety that is available to see at Finfoot - the reserve does not have predators so one can walk freely and cycle too ( we will do this next time ). The lack of predators (Cats) is not a bad thing as that has its advantages too. The ververt monkeys will always remain naughty, this did not spoil the fun. Core memories were made for my 2 boys aged 9 and 6 years and our family loved the resort. This was a winter bush break however I think we will enjoy it in summer too as then we can actually make use of the beautiful pool for swimming. The food was good - buffet style you have seen one you have seen them all. The phyllo pastry parcels were to die for on the second night. We came across a new Pinotage which I think we will continue to buy after our experience with it at Finfoot. The bar was great with a fair variety of drinks - good list of wines too. I was not able to access the spa - available times clashed with planned activities. I will make use of this in the future. We have seen our fair share of SA, Africa and a bit if Europe - we will definately be back at Finfoot - some places have the " come back feeling" and this place is just that and then some. We will also book ahead so we can access the bigger accommodations especially on busy weekends. A visit to Finfoot is definitely well worth it even the gravel road :) I will love to see the place in summer too - this will definitely happen. The lodge is very nice, however our weekend was unfortunately ruined by Lebo who did not do her work. We've made bookings for certain activities before we arrived at the lodge. It was confirmed by WhatsApp and at arrival. An hour later everything changes, we no longer have the bookings and could not be accommodated at our convenient times. This was really disappointing. We ordered cocktails at the bar on the first day, we've noticed it was not the same we used too, however we let it slide because it might be the way the bartender mix it at this lodge. On the second day we've order a different type of cocktail and the same thing occurred. I than questioned it with the waiters and they confirmed with the bartender, which the bartender insisted it was the right mix. I than went to the bar and ask, because I know how it supposed to taste and no way that they can mess this one up. The bartender then confirmed that they were out of stock on certain ingredients, hence the reason they've mixed something different. So the question is why being dishonest? What is I am allergic to certain things and you just made the assumption this drink will be fine for you without my consent. And when we question it, you still dishonest. This was really disappointing experience. It is the small things that makes an enjoyable holiday. Upon check ou Lebo asked all the guests prior to me, how was they stay and yhey should drive safely. On my turn to check out, I paid my bill, no questions were asked to check on my stay, very cold attitude towards me, which once again confirmed the unprofessionalism. …

Good morning Mr., Andrews Thank you very much for your review. I understand that you were disappointed because of the spa, not all the activities, only the spa. We do not allow pre bookings to be made for this exact reason, there are so many options of times for activities and spa treatments and being fully booked means first come first serve, once we take pre bookings people change their minds and then there is also miscommunication about when exactly you want it booked, therefor bookings on arrival is much better. Lebo actually went out of her way to accommodate you with the bush walk, boat cruise and segway safari in advance, she was never thanked for this. There was nothing wrong with these bookings. At the time you requested all these bookings, the spa was already booked for Sunday and Lebo slotted you in on the Saturday. She did try her best because we were fully booked and yet it was not good enough, I understand your disappointed because you wanted the spa for Sunday and just feel it is a bit unfair towards Lebo, when everything else she booked was fine and at least she made a plan with the spa instead of just saying it is fully booked. We also offered you 4 other time slots for the spa on the Sunday which you rejected, again at least we could offer you these times. However, we hear your disappointment and will work towards our communication skills in the future, thank you for raising your concern. Regarding the cocktails, not all our cocktails are exactly the same as what you find on the internet, as a private lodge we are allowed to tweak cocktails and make them our own. I believe the Hurricane cocktail was the issue and nothing else was used than what is in our recipe and, on the internet it is with passionfruit and some with orange juice, we don’t add passionfruit, however again, I hear what you are saying and will have a training session with the bar staff, because if they do replace ingredients, they must communicate it to avoid things that can possible happen, like an allergic reaction. We received excellent service from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff are all very professional and friendly. Our unit was very clean and comfortable. Every meal was delicious. It would help if guests could be advised in advance of the hyacinth on the dam to avoid disappointment if planning to fish. Either than that, we had an awesome stay.

Great venue, accommodation, food and activities. All excellent and great service. Very peaceful and lucky to see a lot of the game on the game drives and Bush walks. The segway activity was awesome - what a way to view the game! Very enjoyable sunset cruise on the dam. Game ranger Megan was outstanding and looked after us so well - she really made the stay enjoyable for us.

Best service with the friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced from arrival to departure. The ladies at the spa is well trained and the massages was great! The food is delicious, from breakfast to the last dish for dinner was prepared with flavour and pleasure in mind. Our guide Hannes is very kind, funny and goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and have a fun time in his company. We really enjoyed our stay and the reception, waiters and bar lady and cleaning staff was all round exceptional! Thank you Melani and Sarel for going out of your way to make sure this was a special visit, you run a great ship. We loved our long weekend at Fin Foot and will definitely recommend!

This was an experience of a lifetime. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the Rangers Jaundré and Hannes. We were just in time for the afternoon activity on the Boat Cruise with both Rangers and after the long drive it was so relaxing on the cruise with some snacks and drinks. Thank you Letho, the young chef, for the outstanding dinner and breakfast served each day. The Finfoot Burger is a must when visiting. Our Chalet was clean and serviced twice daily. Teagan, the receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. We had 2 activities daily and was allocated to Jaundré our Ranger. He was professional at all times and was very knowledgeable and engaged with all his guests. The website of Finfoot Lake Reserve is well presented on social media, but after interactions with the staff, one quickly realized that each staff member is actually ambassadors of the organisation and that their dedication and commitment contributes to the image of the Reserve which is far more important than the branding on a website.
