Hotel Villa Di Piazzano enjoys acclaim for its luxurious amenities, including opulent rooms and exquisite dining set within well-maintained gardens, which many guests find enhances the property's serene atmosphere. Nestled in a picturesque Tuscan locale, it's an idyllic spot for both relaxation and exploration. While the service is lauded for its professionalism and warmth, opinion is divided on the hotel's value, with some finding it a romantic splurge and others deeming it pricey. The rooms earn praise for their decor and spaciousness, though a few travelers note occasional upkeep issues.

I can’t say enough things about this very elegant historical hotel.
The grounds are extremely luxurious.
Staff are so welcoming and delightful that feels as though they really know you and are determined to make your stay memorable. We were welcomed with a gorgeous picnic basket filled with delicacies. What a treat!
For years I had been determined to celebrate our 10th anniversary there and our celebration was very special.

Families with small children: We were worried that such a lovely grand villa would be too formal and dull for our children. Quite honestly this hotel may not be a good choice when traveling with small kids. When I first emailed the hotel, we were told that children can only stay during special circumstances.
Villa Di Piazzano is a peaceful haven and I understand their desire to keep it that way!
That said, there were several children during our stay (we were there in August) and the staff was very accommodating. The problem is you a have to deal with the looks from snobby guests seeking romance and tranquility in this tuscan retreat. Also, it’s difficult to keep children quiet at the pool. There is quiet time at the pool between 1-4pm and they enforce it!

The breakfast spread was delicious and served in the most beautiful patio restaurant.
Our suite was a dream with gorgeous views of the grounds. In the afternoons we would order a bottle of wine in the patio overlooking the cypress trees and the pool.

I would strongly recommend a renting a car. We were a group of six and paid 75 to 100 euro roundtrip going into town every day. Paid a lot more to visit Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino and Sienna. Pienza was our favorite Tuscan town but Cortona is very lovely.

There were two very special staff members who made our stay memorable. Unfortunately, it took me so long to write this that I don’t have their names (we were there August 2019) One of them is a very friendly and energetic waiter ( I believe his hair is blonde/red and has light eyes) who was there almost every day sometimes as early as breakfast and still at dinnertime. His attention to our children and our needs, especially during our vow renewal dinner is something we will never forget. The other gentleman was the manager during breakfast every morning. I think his name is Jean Carlo. He always made sure we had a nice table for the kids and would set something aside for my mother who would never make it to breakfast on time.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely!
I loved the attention to detail, beautifully landscaped grounds, our gorgeous suite and excellent service. This is one of those places you will always remember.

We stayed 4 nights here as a Belgian family of four including 2 daughters of 20 and 16 years old. This villa has the small luxury hotel of the world label and it certainly has its charms: the villa is beautifully situated and surrounded by a lovely garden and swimming pool, has a very romantic outdoor restaurant below the trees and a great view at Corona, an uphill Tuscan gem.
But above all the gentle and professional personnel, especially in the restaurant during breakfast and dining, made our stay here particularly pleasant. I hope the owners realize this and cherish their staff as this is a very important asset to create an unforgettable experience. The same holds for the cook! We did not have the intention to eat here every evening but the combination of the great food and service made us do so. The cook is also open to suggestions: he made us a very nice bruschetta combination upon our request. Breakfast is good (because of Covid 19 not presented in buffet style but at the table: every day delicious fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon, yoghurt, a selection of bread and biscuits, ham and cheese,...).
Only recommendation I would add is to upgrade the furniture in the rooms somewhat (closets for clothes). But overall a very nice experience and we do consider going back.

Had the pleasure of staying at Villa di Piazzano for a week recently.

Lovely location - just outside of Cortona, a gorgeous old town that embodies everything that Tuscany is well admired for.

The rooms were very much in keeping with the refurbishment of this charming house. The bathrooms were clean and modern, with the bed an impressive size too.

The pool is lovely, not overcrowded, and backs onto a lovely view of the Tuscan hillside. The terrace is perfect for a nice drink relaxing watching the sun set over Cortona.

The staff were excellent throughout. We only had one minor issue, where we had been drinking by the pool all afternoon and were refused a drink. I felt this was a bit overly officious as it was not as though we were drunk, but I understand it was done on safety grounds due to being by the pool. We spoke with the manager who was very understanding and admitted it could have been handled better at the time and we did not have any further problems of this kind on the stay. Overall the staff could not have been nicer though and in particular, Davide, who was very friendly and helpful.

The only negative I would give, which is minor in the grand scheme of things, is that the restaurant is quite expensive for what it is. The setting is great, and the ease of being able to leave your room and dine is of course fantastic, however although well presented the options were relatively limited and not quite as tasty as the prices (nearly double that of Cortona restaurants) would suggest. It was good food, but not great and we much preferred the local delights in the town despite the taxi ride.

In terms of other amenities there are plenty of places nearby to drive to and see within 30 minutes, and if you are doing a tour it is well worth a stop. I would definitely stay again, and I would recommend to anyone who wanted to have a relaxing break in Tuscany.

This beautiful hotel is truly a remarkable place. The rooms, suites, and public areas are so well restored and designed with an artistic eye, keeping both the history and the modern day relevance in tact.

The food was exquisite - lots of the produce comes from their own garden and the rest from local areas. Very carefully sourced and prepared. Our breakfast was delicious, fresh pastas for lunch were to die for, and the dinner! We had the lamb the first night and it was the best lamb we've ever had.

Our room overlooked the gorgeous pool and surrounding hills - we could not have been happier. Four poster bed, his and her sinks and large bathroom, high ceilings, thread count sheets to send you to sleep forever. Honestly incredible hotel.

And the best part is the staff and the owners. Its a family run hotel and all the staff feel as if they are a true part of the experience so the greatest care and kindness are given. They could not have been more welcoming and wonderful.

We were so lucky to go and cannot wait for another trip!

Villa di Piazzano is a lovely Tuscan villa, with beautiful views, historical building and charming, comfortable rooms.
The location is in a very quiet area and close enough to visit both Tuscany and Umbria (Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, Perugia).
The thing that I liked the most was the beautiful patio where breakfast was served.
The staff was attentive and polite throughout our stay, the prices are reasonable for this kind of place but the food, altough good overall, was not always up to the expectations (for instance I found the fish to be bland).
However, I did not appreciate being charged for room service when I could not finish my dinner at the table, due to an indigestion (NOT caused by the meals served at the villa).
Nonetheless, I would love to come back again.

After choosing to be in the Cortona area, we were lucky enough to find Villa di Piazzano, a Small Luxury Hotel during our research. We booked a superior room and were given a corner room in the villa on the 1st floor. It was a beautiful room. Service is impeccable, staff are very welcoming, super friendly and helpful. There is luggage assistance from the car to the room which was greatly appreciated. The villa is gorgeous, the first floor up a graceful set of stairs in the main villa has a hand full of rooms off a beautiful sitting area. It is quiet and feels private. The room receives a second refreshing in the evening, water is replaced twice ‘daily’ in the room, the wi fi is great. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were of a high quality and sheets were changed daily. Absolutely loved the bathroom. Lots of amenities provided. Housekeeping is fantastic - can't say enough good things about the staff.

Breakfast is a highlight! It is brought to the table and it is simply superb. An array of items with freshly made cappuccinos plus menu items to choose from. Overall loved our 3 nights. A great place to stay and see the surrounding area. As an aside, if you're lucky you will get to meet Jack the Border Collie, a member of the family (a very smart and fun dog to interact with).

The Villa Di Piazzano was one of the most amazing properties I have ever had the privilege to stay at. From the moment we turned onto the beautiful tree lined driveway we were breath-taken by not only the property and landscape but also the attention to detail and amazing service. We were immediately greeted by hotel staff whom was so kind to take out bags, welcome us, offer us a drink. We proceeded to check us in and the staff offered to go over our trip itinerary to confirm transfers we would be needing during our stay and making sure they were all booked for us. While on property we are walked outside towards the front and back a few miles, through the gardens and spent some time by the pool and on the terrace. Each and every staff member is very kind, attentive and helpful. All of our local farm fresh meals were delicious, prepared with high quality ingredients from a world class chef. Outside of the Villa Di Piazzano the town and local wineries were amazing and we were very thankful to the hotel staff in helping us set up some of our stay from a wine tour to an amazing meal at La Buccacia. When we left early in the morning, they even had a to-go breakfast prepared for us… so kind! We were sent off my Mirco who we had yet to meet and he seemed to excited to meet us and was so kind in sending us off. Our stay was amazing to the point I felt sad to leave but am looking forward to the next time I get to return to this state of the art property! Thank you to all the Villa Di Piazzano staff - we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Everything about this place is fantastic! The property is beautifully kept with views of the Tuscan hills, countryside and the nearby town of Cortona. You can easily drive there for lunches or dinners or stay and eat at the hotel. The food and cocktails at the restaurant onsite were really delicious (we ate there for both lunch and dinner service). Above all the service really stood out. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating to any request we may have had. We cannot wait to stay here again!

Arriving at Villa di Piazzano was probably the highlight of our vacation. This beautiful property is like a dream come true. You immediately feel relaxed and happy when you arrive. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We had been on the go for a week, and finally could have some needed downtime. Our room was very spacious, clean and lovely. The outdoor gardens and pool area are like heaven. It's a beautiful place to go on walks on the trails and see all the beauty. The outdoor eating area is magnificent and the staff are all wonderful. The breakfast is fantastic. Cortona is a beautiful location and we also enjoyed going up the hill to town for dinner one evening. We were very sad to leave could have stayed a few more days, we will be returning one day soon.
This was our favorite hotel on our journey! xo

We have just returned from a blissful stay at Villa Di Piazzano.

The hotel itself is simply beautiful, set amongst sunflower fields, hillsides and greenery. We felt reluctant to leave such a gorgeous setting, meaning we spent lots of time relaxing by the idyllic pool and playing cards on the cosy sofa area.

Every single staff member is a consummate professional, delivering 5 star service with a smile and ensuring you are made to feel extremely welcome.

Thank you to the porters who ensured our luggage was taken from our car to our room carefully and quickly, to the housekeepers for keeping our room spotless throughout our stay and the groundskeepers who worked endlessly to maintain the outstanding grounds that are a delight to walk around.

The reception staff were extremely friendly and always greeted us warmly. A special thanks to the lady (I'm very sorry, I didn't catch your name) who gave me insect relief gel after a sore insect bite and even offered her personal supply of bug spray. You are the best!

The restaurant and bar staff are extremely professional and made every dining experience a delight, ensuring our glasses were never empty and we were always well attended to.

The food itself is absolutely delicious and the ingredients are of very high quality. Well done to the chefs! I would highly recommend eating at the hotel.

A 1st class hotel made even better by a world class team. Thank you to everyone at Villa Di Piazzano for an unforgettable stay and we hope to see you soon.

I picked up a car in Rome and drove north stopping in Civita di Bagnaregio, going past Orvieto. Can't remember the autostrada name but it took us up the west side of the lake and up around to the hotel. Pretty easy and direct route. Hope this helps.

Nearest airport is in Perugia if you can get a flight into it, then pick up a rental car. It's a smaller airport, however, so the flights may be limited. Alternative is flying into Florence, which is the nearest major airport, and either renting a car in Florence and driving down, or catching a train from Florence down south and picking up a rental car in a town such as Sienna.
