We were in two minds as to whether to write a review as Fort D'Acre feels like such a wonderful secret. But keeping it to ourselves wouldn't be fair and Nicole and Werner deserve praise. We stayed for just 2 nights but wish it had been longer. Comfortable with tasteful decor, lovely furnishings and the most amazing view across the reserve to the distant river mouth and ocean beyond, the Queen suite was everything we had hoped for. We loved the space in the room, the bed with a good mattress, pillows and fine linen, the luxury feel of the bathroom area and the open plan shower. All these things we would maybe expect of any 4* B and B but Fort D'Acre had so much more. As well as our room we were able to use the beautifully designed and well equipped communal space as if it was our own home and could have self catered. However, we chose B and B and enjoyed a very good breakfast which Nicole prepared for us. We also made the most of the evening meal option on one day - a very tasty homemade lasagne and mixed salad. While staying, the wind was blowing a gale but we were still able to use the loungers and the refreshing pool in the sheltered garden. We also spent time at the lovely beach lapa located in the sand dunes overlooking the spectacular beach, not one for swimming but great for long walks. All this added up to make our stay amazing but the absolute highlight had to be our game drive through the reserve with Werner. What a treat making for a most memorable evening, perfect.

Fort D'Acre is unique in that there are not many places where one is able to see game with a backdrop of the Indian Ocean. The reserve is situated on a large stretch of pristine beach which we had almost to ourselves(apart from few fishermen). We enjoyed many walks to the Fish River mouth, as well as to the 122 year old Great Fish point light house. The game drives were really enjoyed by our family and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of game, birds and fauna. The sunsets were beautiful. The accommodation was luxurious and there are lovely views across to the Fish River and sea. Nicole and Werner were very hospitable and accommodating. Thank you for a great stay

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. The bed was comfortably soft, the room spacious with a wall of windows and the largest shower i've seen. Breakfast was included and was very good.
The eastern Cape has ongoing issues with water and power but the lodge is self-sufficient in both and the wifi was excellent.
Special thanks to Nicky, Werner and Sylvia for the friendly service.

I was blown away by how amazing this place is. Nicole and her team were perfect. They take such pride in the upkeep of this lodge. Their service and cleanliness is incredible. We are 8 local friends who rented the lodge for the weekend and it was completely worth it. The game drive is a must. Werner is incredibly knowledgeable and respectful towards the animals. I highly recommend Fort d Acre.

Fort D'Acre is the perfect reserve for anyone who wishes to take a break from a busy life. I was met by the polite and friendly Kai who also took me on a game drive. Kai was extremely knowledgeable and is clearly passionate about his career. Melissa and the ladies made me feel at home and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Each day at the reserve was met by tasty homemade goodies ranging from delicious chocolate cupcakes to bread fresh out of the oven. Melissa treats her staff like family with the most love and respect. This shows in the high standard the ladies and Kai place in their work. The house boasts breathtaking views right around with a beautiful garden and interior too. Venturing out to nearby towns are not necessary as the reserve has access to a beautiful private beach, game drives with sightings of various animals, swimming pool and many other amenities to make your stay worthwhile. Overall, my stay at Fort D'Acre exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be returning. Thank you to all!

We had an amazing family weekend at Fort D'Acre. We chose a self-catering stay - the house is just incredible, with everything you need to move in and feel at home (but in far more luxury!). The staff looked after us so well, and really made all the difference to the weekend, quietly and efficiently keeping things tidy and making sure we had all we needed.

We went with small children who had a wonderful time playing around the house, in the lush garden, and down at the beach. Evening braai's at the firepit were memorable.

I would recommend this to a family group or friends looking for a getaway in the area!

Peaceful and exclusive with very friendly guides and staff. They have awesome hideaway by the ocean where you can have romantic picnic or braai under the stars and the sound of the waves as background music. Game drive was exceptional with very knowledgeable guide.

Highly impressed by my experience at Fort D'Acre Reserve. From the precise moment you drive up to the gate of this reserve you can feel the tranquility that will shower you throughout your stay. The customer service offered is above and beyond. You get a sense of being both in luxury accommodation and being surrounded by nature. Not to mention the stunning views from each room! The bed linen is high quality and at times I honestly didn't want to leave the bed, because of the sheer comfort it offered, however, how could you not leave the bed and indulge in the rest this reserve has to offer. I highly recommend booking at this gorgeous Reserve. It's perfect for a family vacation but also perfect for a girls weekend away! Love love love it!
