Firstly they gave me a room without balcony as advertised The manager refused tk change my booking to solo traveller and not 2 as my daughter could not accompany me They do not allow ironing in the room and the housekeeper burned my white dress when she ironed it and now I have endless issues to get it resolved. The staff was talking about the burning of dress whilst I could hear them moaning

We had a bad experience with Schulphoek. Our booking was cancelled on the morning we were supposed to arrive. Their excuse was not believable. Also: unresponsive to requests and emails. I eventually had to phone them, at which point they were unhelpful.

We arrived at the property with a sense of foreboding, as my emails had gone unanswered and the website was still promoting a discounted offer that expired in 2022. Not things that fill you with confidence. However, from the moment we arrived, it was clear that we had no reason to be concerned. Car parking was secure within the property and under cover. Reception was friendly and efficient. Our luggage was taken to the room immediately and nobody hung around to wait for a tip. The room was modern, spacious, well equipped and had a fantastic floor to ceiling vista of the sea and coast. The bathroom was huge and had a sink area with plenty of surface space, a bath, a separate shower and a cosy heated towel rail. Having said that, the bath was ridiculously big, with almost vertical ends. Very uncomfortable, unless you were over seven feet tall, or needed to bathe three children at once. It was a classic example of design over function. The shower on the other hand, was excellent. Good pressure, choice of adjustable side shower or overhead rain shower. Design and function working together. The separate toilet had a bidet function on it for personal hygiene, which took some working out. Fortunately, this is not an automatic function and requires the pressing of a button at the side. Unfortunately, this button was discovered whilst fully dressed and not sat on the toilet, with predictable (and very humorous) results involving a jet of water. Clear instructions would be helpful here! Anyway, back to the plot. We had a really enjoyable stay. Breakfasts were superb, all the staff were friendly and happy to help. Nomfundo was particularly helpful, with practical advice and an enjoyable sense of humour. It is true that the location is not within walking distance of anywhere, other than the cliff path, but the property offers a free shuttle service into and back from Hermanus (thank you Albert!). Also, in the era of load shedding, the property has both solar and generator energy provision for the sea-facing rooms, and power was never an issue. The grounds are relatively small, but relaxing and well cared for. There is a pool, but it it doesn’t look very inviting as it is salt water and is a misty colour. Probably very good for you, but I prefer water clarity! The restaurant at the property does not serve dinner at present, but there are plenty of restaurants in Hermanus, about 15 minutes away. To sum up, we really enjoyed our stay here and will certainly come back should we return to Hermanus.

Everything was absolutely 10/10 - from the moment we drove in. Our baggage was collected from the car and we were directed to Nomfundo at the reception desk. We were shown around the property and to our spacious and spotless room. Breakfast was 11/10 - everything clearly home-made and freshly cooked. The view of the sea from the dining room is really special - just sorry the whales didn't visit while we were there. (They even wash your car overnight!)

The hotel was great, rooms were large, comfortable and well equipped - beverages, toiletries, fridge, coffee machine etc. The views from the large picture windows in our sea view room were amazing and it was beautiful to wake in the morning to watch the sun rise over the sea. The staff were fully accommodating, friendly and helpful and provided a driving service too. The only slight downside for us was the journey to Hermanus town, as due to the location of the township it was not sensible to walk. We would recommend the hotel but we would prefer to stay in or the other side of Hermanus on any future visits.

Waterfront rooms overlooking the ocean. A spectacular property, impeccably clean, large rooms and minimalistic styling. A great location for friends holidaying together to have adjoining / side-by-side rooms and sit out on the decking watching the sunset:) But the best part of the stay were the staff. Thank you to Tshepang for your kindness, patience and attentiveness in making sure every facet of our stay was taken care of. Thank you to Albert for being our tireless, ever-patient shuttle driver and host, and a *massive* thank you for offering to help us take our unwell friend to hospital (thank goodness the crisis was averted!), even when your shift would’ve been finished. Thank you Zaza, and chefs Pinky and Sybil, for your wonderful diverse breakfasts overlooking the ocean. Last, but most definitely not least, our dear Nomfundo (AKA Nomi). You are The Hostess with the Mostest. Your hilarious stories, quick wit and angelic voice will long be remembered. You manage the property with such grace and class - can’t wait to see you again next time!

Beautiful contemporary boutique hotel with amazing views if you get a sea view room. Our room was spacious with a great bathroom. For breakfast there was a great choice of freshly prepared, individually served items - huge portions. It’s a shame the restaurant is not open for dinner as the dining room is lovely which means you have to make the short drive to Hermanus central for dinner. The staff were super attentive and service was excellent. Maybe as result of the reviewer who unfortunately got her phone stolen and was injured, when I went for a walk by the beach someone from the hotel accompanied me at a discrete distance all the way. Whilst I would not want to walk around by myself in the dark, there were other joggers, people walking their dog, families and I did not feel unsafe. The only other thing to mention is the property next door has a whole pack of different sized dogs that barked all afternoon, but at least were quiet when they were locked up for the night.

The positives; The view, the view, the view - you have to get a sea view room! The breakfast was really nice, and the ladies at breakfast were lovely! The negatives; You can’t walk for a meal; nothing is walkable! It feels a bit uneasy in the evening as sat-nav takes you past the township to get to hermanus central which when dark felt a bit dicey!

I was told by the receptionist / manager a check-in that it was safe to walk by the beach on my own as a female as the area in front the hotel was fenced and it was private land. I did not question these statement so on valentine's Day I decided to say longer at the beach by myself. I got attacked by a young kid from the townships that are pretty close to these hotel (we only realised the next day) and got stabbed in my hands to steal my phone. Due to this I had to go through surgery and a big massive trauma that I'm still dealing with now. The hotel still charged for the sandwiches and the wine that we had the day of the attack (we were told it was compliment) as I wasn't able to leave the hotel anymore as I was pretty traumatized. The lady manager (apologies I have forgotten her name) did take me to the hospital and waited for me which was very kind of her. This experience of course I'm ruined not only our holiday in hermanus but my life in general. I am still dealing with a lot of emotional trauma and physical recovery of my hands as I have to go through rehabilitation to learn how to move my finger again. It is actually quite difficult for me to write this review as it is quite recent and fresh in my memory but I would like to help other people who might be considering to stay here in hermanus at this hotel or somewhere nearby to be very cautious of the surroundings never walk on their own and not carry their phones nor valuables if they can avoid it. I would like to avoid this experience or something similar to happen to people. The police didn't do anything and closed the case so this kid is still out there mugging people. This kid was around 14 or 15 years old colored skin with a lazy right eye. I would have never been on my own in South Africa as I am aware of the circumstances there, but in this case I choose to trust the hotel staff who told me it was safe as this was supposed to be a private land with a fence. HERMANUS IS NOT SAFE
