Marine Beachfront Guesthouse is an exceptional address from all points of view: quality of location, type of structure and hospitality.
We are talking about a private house transformed into a B&B with a series of rooms that overlook the Hermanus bay with different viewing angles. Each of the rooms is furnished differently and has a different personality. We stayed in the Oyster Room which has practically three out of four sides with an ocean view. Impossible to find a fault with the room itself, not large but not small either, perfectly equipped including extra blankets, useful given the season.
The view of the ocean and the surrounding coast is exceptional. The windows of the Marine Beachfront Guesthouse are "screens" that project images of South African nature.
The freshly prepared breakfast was another gem that was only partially expected. Fresh products, carefully chosen and adapted to our taste and choice.
The location is relatively secluded compared to Hermanus (about fifteen minutes away), in a residential area that appears safe and monitored. The road in front is semi-private: passable but in fact only used by those who live in the area. In the area behind the Marine Beachfront Guesthouse there is parking for customers. At night Mrs. Sabrina, the owner, is not there but there is a night guard represented by a nice lady who answers any calls.
Our advice is to book with your eyes closed. Obviously knowing that it is not a hotel but a guesthouse and therefore those who choose a hotel may not find some of the services they are used to, but everything you get in return fully repays with interest what you lose.

This is the best, most comfortable, most accommodating Guesthouse/B&B we have ever stayed at. The attention to detail from air fresheners in the bathroom through bed turndown chocolates through a departure gift, etc. are delightful. The sumptuous breakfast, excellent coffee and service at tables looking out over the sea and waves were a delight in themselves . Desre and Hester excellent managers. I can’t say enough about how pleasant our stay was.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the guesthouse. The house is fairly new and has obviously been built and decorated to a high quality standard with an eye for detail. The rooms are large, luxurious, comfortable and quiet. There are two sitting rooms with a view to the ocean front, and one with a warming fire place.
Breakfast was a delight, laid out as if for important guests in your home. The food was delicious, plenty of options and the hot offering was cooked to order.
Staff were friendly, helpful and interesting to chat with.
We highly recommend the guesthouse.

We had a lovely stay at 138 Marine. We had a family room, which was a bit of a tight squeeze for 4 of us but we were only there to sleep and spent our days out exploring this beautiful location. The room was kept very clean and the guest house has some of the best views I've seen, with a large shared terrace area to enjoy them. The staff could not have been more warm and welcoming and the breakfast was a feast!

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at 138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse and would highly recommend. Being on the beach, we couldn't fault the location - the views are amazing, listening to the waves was such a treat and the house itself is perfect. So comfortable and welcoming - the staff were above and beyond phenomenal and the rooms were private and spacious. The breakfasts were fabulous and I would love to revisit and will definitely be telling any visitors going to Hermanus about 138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse.

The house is in a great location and is only separated from the sea by a moderately busy road. You can relax and watch the waves. The rooms are not brand new, but they have charm. The two ladies on site are very friendly and help with planning the day or with reservations. The breakfast is beautifully prepared and tastes delicious. The breakfast to go was also varied and lovingly put together due to our early departure.

My husband and I stayed at the guest house on December 31st, as a stop on the garden route. We felt right at home, in absolute peace. As a surprise they also reserved a table for us for the evening in a nearby restaurant, very beautiful and elegant. Friendly, polite and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, with freshly cooked dishes, and since we were on our honeymoon, the best table was reserved for us!! Hotel with attention to every smallest detail, from the room to the common areas, with pleasant, extremely relaxing music

Located +/- 5 minutes by car from the center of Hermanus (city to visit!!!), this guest house is a little gem that should not be missed! Our room was simply perfect! (Coral Room)
Incredible view from the bathtub, and a large shower. The underfloor heating worked very well, although we preferred to warm up in front of the fireplace in the common area. The cleanliness of the premises was impeccable, thanks to the room staff who comes twice a day. There is always a manager present on site (even during the night) in case there is a problem. THE most incredible THING was still the delicious and gourmet breakfasts, made with love and good humor. Everyone was lovely, I recommend 200%!

The welcome was really perfect: we arrived early in the morning because we had a whale cruise in the morning. We were greeted with a small coffee and a muffin, we had explanations to find the place of our excursion (+ small plan) and as our room was ready we were able to drop our bags there. Besides, the room was very good. In the evening as it was a little cold a fire was ready in the fireplace of the living room (from where there is a magnificent view) and breakfast very well too. You will also have an explanation of what can be done in the area (always with a small plan). In short we recommend this address.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovingly furnished guest house right by the sea and would come back anytime. The house is very bright and has lots of little details! The hostess is very warm and accommodating! Everything is very elegant! Everyone is super friendly, happy to help with restaurant reservations and gives lots of tips for things to do locally! The rooms are spacious and very clean! We had a room with a sea view and our own terrace. In the house you can also use the balcony with a sea view. A communal room on the upper floor with a fireplace and coffee and tea is also available! The breakfast is fantastic and is prepared and served with love and is super delicious!

Hi Johann
On 20 & 21 Dec only our Periwinkle Room is available. Although the room itself does not have a sea view, when you open the bedroom door, you look through a huge window onto the waves in front of the house. The room is also close to the lounge with stunning 280 degree sea views,
Should you be able to reconsider your dates, the Abalone Room with a sea view from the bed, is available on 21 & 22 December. Our honeymoon suite, the Oyster Room with its stunning views, is available 23 & 24 December.
Do enjoy planning your holiday!
Kind regards
The 138 Marine Team
