We based ourselves here for 3 nights to do some diving with Coral Divers. Its location is ideal as you are just outside of the park, therefore avoiding the hefty KZN overnight charges as well as the iSimangaliso daily gate entry fees. We were able to drive just 15 minutes and park just before the gate, and then walk 5 minutes to meet the rest of the group at the beach location for the dives. There are a few places nearby to eat, a small grocery shop and not too far away is the bigger town with supermarkets. We recommend eating at the Lighthouse, or Ingunis was also quite good. Having stayed elsewhere in Sodwana before, I found this place very comfortable. You get your own key for the gate which is always locked, so security is provided and we did feel very safe and secure. Our room was small but comfortable. A little on the warm side, but a small fan is provided and we never felt overly warm at night. The bed is comfortable and the room is nicely decorated with plenty of shelving space given the size of the room. There is also a small veranda with two chairs outside. The shared ablutions were always clean, only the showers which run on gas are a little temperamental at times. There is a communal kitchen area which is really well done, each room gets their own cooking station, utensils etc. and fridge. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and the owners were very accommodating for us as well, allowing us to check out later after coming back for a shower after our last dive. The only improvements I can suggest are to try politely ask other guests to keep noise levels down, on one night there was some loud music playing until 10pm or a bit after, we were having early mornings and quite tired after diving but in the end it didn't stop me sleeping! The showers could be better for regulating the temperature, although we did always manage to get a hot shower at some point! Maybe putting shower heads on all showers would be nice. Thanks for the lovely stay!
