The location was great because it was in a close driving proximity to the Sodwana bay diving center. Unfortunately the rooms didn't come with wifi and we for a 4 sleeper bedroom when we only wanted a 2 sleeper. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is just a minute walk away.
Sodwana bay scuba diving was such an amazing experience where I got to see a moray eel swimming freely. For international travellers please note that the closest pcr testing station is 3 hours away.

Resort is good. More facilities needed for children when in the resort confinement. A shower needs to be added indoor and bathtub needs to be replaced. Serious upgrade needed on 6 sleeper chalets to cater for elderly needs as they don't prefer the outside shower.

1st family diving holiday for 5 years. The Coral Divers team were great starting with James patiently taking us through a refresher session in the pool to a range of dives on 2,5 and 8 mile reefs. All the reefs were in good condition , the sites weren’t crowded and there was the unexpected benefit of migrating whales ( often with young) passing close by on nearly every trip

So we didn’t stay at Sodwana Bay lodge because like many other places in Sodwana it was fully booked by the time we started looking for a room. However we saw on Internet that they offer bird safari walking tours, which we were really interested in! We called the lodge and they gave us the number of Jabulani, a local expert in birds! Not only did he advise us a better site to spot birds according to the time of day, he was also like the god of birds lol. At first I thought he was making it all up…. But we actually saw birds really close with the binoculars (he lent us his!), he was 100% right all the times! He also greatly helped us to actually spot birds whereas we couldn’t see any at first. Jabulani is also an awesome storyteller and such a great guy all around. Thank you again Jabulani. And kuddos to Sodwana Bay lodge for promoting local expertise !!

We stayed for 7 days and was very happy with the facilities. It is rustic but well equipped. The chalets are serviced dailly by very friendly staff.
The swimming pool is wel maintained and the restaurant is on site, with great food.
We also utilized the diving facility on site.
On the negative side, the wifi only work at reception and aircons is necessary.

Nice place poorly managed. Staff is not prepared to handle this place properly, and we have encountered several issues when checking in. Breakfast on site is not available and they won't tell you until you check in. The restaurant opens at 12pm and there is nowhere to buy coffee or water in the lodge. The only option is to drive out of the lodge and go to a coffee shop / supermarket. Chalets can use a thorough maintenance and cleanliness. The place is very quiet and nice.

Our stay with Sodwana Bay lodge was pleasant. The only issues experienced was firstly with the booking: We requested a unit away from any main facilities (well in advance), as we did not want to be disturbed during our stay. Upon checking in, this was not the case, as we were then allocated a unit right next to the restaurant, which is exactly the opposite of what we requested. However, this was resolved. The other issue was that there was a problem with the DSTV being out of order. Although this was not critical to our booking, it seems like this was a known issue, but was only communicated after enquireing why the services were down.

Otherwise, the rooms were clean and well furnished. The staff was friendly and helpful and very accomodating. We slept like babies. We would definetaly stay here again.

It would be nice if there was more adequate diving gear drying facilities. I had my own diving gear and had no where to hang it up to dry. Sodwana being a diving meca, I would expect this to be a feature at most of the lodges in the area.

First item on this Hotel is that the rooms where build many years ago and in between the cheapest maintenance was used. Like wrong toilet lids and skew shower door etc., First shower cold.0
The next item is that we pay for a room/breakfast and dinner. When you go for dinner they present to you a menu without prizing. The problem with that is the quality between the no prize menu and the prized menu is completely in a different league. So much so that we went to a restaurant outside the premises to eat where we pay again. Same with the breakfast, tasteless etc..
For the money I pay it was a no go.

Sodwana Bay was the last stop on our honeymoon. We paid R1560 per night, and got a pool that was luminous green, a fridge that stank of bait, a shower that was held up with cable ties and a television that had more snow than picture. To top things off, we needed to leave 2 days early because my pregnant wife was having difficulties, and after requesting proof that we had changed our flights 'in order to see whether a refund would be possible', we have since been roundly ignored by the lodge manager. Try Mseni lodge instead. Perhaps you will have a better time than we did.

Great venue. It was really convenient for the accommodation, to be so connected with the Billfish 15000 competition. The room was clean and well kept. the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed watching the local wildlife, so close to my chalet.

Hi Kathy, There is a general dealer shop just across the road from the Sodwana Bay lodge entrance. It is well stocked with food, drinks and hardware items as well. Obviously this does not replace a supermarket that us city folk are used to. There is also a bottle store just up the road. My advice is to take what you can with you but you are able to get some items that you have missed or run out of. Things like milk and bread will be available. I trust this answers your question. Kind Regards Paul
