Formerly Shades of the Valley, this quaint guest house is set in the heart of the beautiful village of Riebeek Kasteel, less than 1 hr drive from Cape Town. The guest house has been recently renovated and its French Provencal look and feel have been restored, while adding a few touches of chic and glamour. The guest house consists of 2 fully-equipped kitchens, 2 lounges with fireplaces, and 6 bedrooms en-suite. All bedrooms and lounges have flat screen TVs. There is an air-con unit in each bedroom. There is a lovely veranda, back porch, garden and swimming pool. Experienced therapists are on call to offer massages in the privacy of your room. The house is ideal for groups as it can be rented out as a whole. It can also be split up into two units.

When a place is decorated with love it has soul. Loved overnighting here and Gina was so warm and friendly. Due to covid Riebeek Kasteel was dead, but I’ve heard it’s usually a wonderful and vibrant place well worth visiting.

My wife and I were on the end of a wild flower viewing excursion and chise SoP for a convenient stop as we had been to Riebeeck Kasteel before and like the town. We only needed one noght but the accommodation was so enjoyable it was disappointing to leave. We had planned to braai but the very cold windy weather made using the great kitchen a better option. We also loved the wood burnin fireplace.

A lovely venue with all the amenities you need in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The kids loved the swing, and we can't wait to go back and enjoy the swimming pool in summer. The fireplace was heaven during winter.

We had gathered our three children and their children together for the first time in many years and Shades of Provence provided the perfect setting for a fantastic family holiday. Two houses in one so was great to have two kitchens as we were 10 in total. The house itself was well equipped for everything that we needed and having the swimming pool was a big plus for the kids as it was hot in January.\ All in all the best family holiday we have had and thanks to Shades of Provence for providing the perfect setting.

Shades Of Provence had everything to offer and more. It was perfectly located and we could not have asked for more. Access was made simple in this peaceful little piece of Riebeek Kasteel and the property is very safe. The pool and outdoor relaxing/dining are is perfect for a lazy afternoon.
