This is an elegant hotel in a charming location. On previous occasions in the past, we have always enjoyed a delicious meal. We (a party of 6) visited the restaurant for lunch and while the food was well-presented, tasty and the hotel staff were very friendly, there were a few disappointing things. Four of our party ordered the Pork Belly...

What a surprise, way more then expected. An old world elegance with comfortable rooms and great staff. Try the gin and tonics on the front porch. The restaurant is also worth a visit. Ask to see the wine cellar under the bar floor. Beautiful gardens looking onto vineyards.

The only hotel in Riebeek? We stayed in a garden room behind the main building which was comfortable, clean and good air con. We had dinner in a courtyard area that had an awning over it - but we were the only people there, despite the restaurant area in the bar being empty - a bit odd and very soulless....

Dear Wine runner, Thank you for taking the time to review your two stays with us. I'm sorry that on you first one night stay it seemed to be a quiet day. Our hotel runs on an average occupancy of 68% and our average outside daily visitors stands on 108 people per day. Those are just averages though. At the...

Apparently the oldest hotel in South Africa and well worth a visit if you are in the Swartland area, visiting the vineyards and olive groves. This grand old lady has had a facelift recently which has improved facilities without spoiling its character. Not for those seeking sybaritic luxury or Asian style service, but a must if you are looking for...

Excellent bedrooms, modern, with good space and quality bathrooms. The biggest plus factor was the staff. All were efficient, really helpful and wanted to please. The breakfast on the wonderful stoep was very special. The quality and appearance of the food had all been thoughtfully examined,we were very impressed.Negatives,a couple.Lots of steps with no handrails not helpful to the elderly and...

5 for value, 4 for service, 3 for food! We had the 5-course tasting menu at R195 for 5 courses! What a gr8 deal! Unfortunately the duck was a bit dry and the texture of the cauliflower risotto wasn't great but you have to appreciate that it is only R195! Still a great 5 courses. The only problem is if...

Two nights in this peaceful town may not be enough. Rooms clean and comfortable with air con. Food service a little slow but qualities are good. G&T on the verandah or around pool area are definitely worthwhile with a great choice. All round very friendly and accommodating with lots to do to help one adopt a slow and relaxed pace...

The Hotel had all the facilities but lacked direction.from the Owners. Food was generally very good. Our bedroom was well equipped but when we arrived the day had been very hot. The Air Con had not been switched on and the Fridge was not working properly and obviously not checked.

Dear Robin P, Thank you for your review and for the compliments. We have had extremely hot weather and as much as I understand how nice it would be to have an ice cold room on arrival it is our comp[any's policy to not have all our air conditioning units running the whole day not knowing when our guests will...

We just stayed for one night, but I can't wait to come back to The Royal Hotel in Riebeek Kasteel. It's an old hotel, steeped in character, with beautifully modernised and immaculate bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything about it is open-hearted and generous. The staff couldn't be nicer. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel reputedly has the longest...
