The staff were very helpful. Chef's menu was extremely inventive and the best food in town. In winter months we would have preferred to stay in an inside room but made the wrong choice. Don't book room 3 in garden since it's really lower level with no view until you get up six steps

We spent an excellent night in this old fashioned hotel in the middle of town. Nice staff, good breakfast and lovely room. Will visit again, maybe in summer next time. Great location if you want to take a stroll into the town or as a base for some wine tasting.

What a gem of a place, a find among finds. While certain elements might not live up to imagined expectations, the authenticity and staff are unparalleled. The old world sensibility and above and beyond accommodation of even the smallest request makes the Royal a hotel in the truest sense of the word. Maxwell the duty manager is phenomenal, arranging last...

The Royal Hotel in Riebeek for me is a must visit when in South Africa. I like the village that is becoming more and more alive and popular. I love the friendly and welcoming ambiance of the Royal Hotel with their amazing gin & tonics (make sure that you try one...) happy hour. I love their wine menu featuring the...

What a treat! Pristine setting with beautiful gardens, lovely rooms, awesome big front verandah for watching people go by while sipping on one of their huge selection of delicious Gin and tonics. Incredibly accommodating and friendly staff! Can't wait to go back!

Do yourself a favour and book dinner at The Royal Hotel for their 5-course Tasting Menu. I'm not sure why it is referred to as a Tasting Menu, since the portions in each of the delicious 5 courses seemed 'normal size' to me... in fact, we had to take frequent breaks to go stretch out on the comfortable stoep seating...

Dear Earth2013, I am sorry that your experience was not as you may expect from us. These are not our standards and it was unfortunate that our convection oven shortly before caught fire due to an electrical short within the oven causing delays. Although these things are beyond our control I understand that as a client this is not your...

First time to have lunch at the De Stoep restaurant / Royal Hotel restaurant and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and high standard of the food. I had the oysters as starter and duck confit as a main. Both dishes were excellent. I "trusted" the chef / menu and had the Tabasco with the oysters and together with the...

It wasn't our first visit to the Royal Hotel so we were expecting a warm welcome from the staff. It really was overwhelming and we felt inmediately as if we came home. The room was superb and the kingsize bed looked like 2 kingsize beds. Service was excellent. Diner and the 5 course breakfast unexpected fine and affordable. The chenin...

We stayed for one night in January 2016 during a 25 night/15 location road trip, so this review is relatively objective. As per the title, this was our second visit, and we enjoyed it as much as the previous one. The hotel is verging on old school in the stoop and bar areas, but with modern bedrooms. The staff were...
