We took a day trip to Riebeek on what was going to be a day trip from Cape Town and so loved the fantastic charm of the Riebeek valley that we decided to stay the night at the Royal Hotel. This old colonial hotel has been restored wonderfully with modern hotel features but retaining the old world charm. Our rooms...

A hotel that can’t be ignored on a colonial trip is this oldest hotel in the Western Cape. With the longest front veranda south of the Limpopo it has a colonial façade even the Mount Nelson can be jealous of. Old world feel with all modern day’s facilities. And only for a third of the price we paid in other...

Thank you very much for your time and effort to review us. We are glad The Royal fitted in so well with your colonial trip. Your knowledge of historical buildings was a real treat.

We stayed one night (special occasion). On arrival, we got checked into a room with interleading door. Immediately we requested to move to another room as we could hear EVERY SINGLE WORD of the conversation the couple next door was having. We were told hotel is full and we can't be moved. Upon leaving for dinner, we again requested to...

We are very sorry to learn that we have not been able to live up to your expectations. It is most unfortunate this incident took place. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused by the noise factor of the room adjoining. It is a situation that is clearly beyond our control. These situations can happen in this industry from time...

Traveling through the beautiful Cape we suddenly found ourselves at The Royal Hotel in Riebeek Kasteel. Without planning this we realized it was the hotel that the magazine Elsevier wrote an article about a few months ago. We stayed three days and they were lovely. Maybe it´s because we are Europeans but we love the old colonial feel and it...

The best way to describe the experience at The Royal Hotel is simply not to expect what you see on their website. Reality does not meet the expectation created. We stayed in a garden suite and was hoping for a 'verdant garden' as described in the 'Portfolio Retreats Collection Town & Country 2010'. If by 'verdant' they imply a lawn...

Although we did not stay here ( bit pricy for us young folk!), my partner and I always enjoy joining the Royal Hotel for a drink after a day in Riebeeck. We always receive good service by friendly staff and I am quite shocked to hear the bad reviews. Perhaps the moaning guests are used to the City slicker style...learn...

"Experience old world luxury service at The Royal. Breakfast at the longest stoep south of the Limpopo? Tea in the lounge? A light lunch on one of the terraces? ... A bar platter in the 150 year old colonial bar? ... Fair prices. Free WIFI." An extract from www.riebeekvalley.info tourism, which needs correction. Sounds great but having read some of...

Please allow me to address point by point: 1) I wouldn't know what part of the text from the Tourism web site would need correction. Everything said is correct and nothing in the rest of the comment made shows otherwise. 2) The chicken, checked by myself was not uncooked but juicy and tender as it should be.3) The gentleman had...

We pitched up on Friday afternoon and we were shown to our rooms. The accommodations were colonial in style, nicely appointed, and with high ceilings. The grounds were spectacular and we really enjoyed them for the wedding.

We stayed here for 2 nights just as a get away from the city. We had been in the hotel from previous visits to Riebeek Kasteel and thought it had a wonderful character to it so for the end of year holidays we thought we'd treat ourselves a little to a stay at the, what looked like a very luxurious...
