Clean but service wasn't up to the accreditation the hotel has been awarded. Front of house staff didn't show us around, offer to help with bags, nor tell us about breakfasts /meals. Lovely setting though and beds v comfortable. We had dinner at The Traveller's Rest down the road- was excellent- highly recommend it!

Dear guest, Thank you for you review and thank you for the feed-back on our front of house staff. Information like this helps us to keep improving on our services. This is definitely not our standard and has been fully investigated and disciplinary action has been taken. We are glad you enjoyed your dinner at Travellers Rest. Excellent choice. I...

I have stayed here many times and I'm never disappointed. There are two types of rooms, garden and inside the main building. Garden is of course very nice but I don't mind the main building rooms. Rooms are very clean with king-size bed, minibar, tv, air conditioning and a large modern bathroom which holds a bathtub and separate walk-in shower....

Dear guest, Thank you for your wonderful review. Years ago you were the first one to write a review on TripAdvisor. It is a pity they removed it now you wrote your second review on us. Always a pleasure to welcome you at your home away from home. Hopefully we may do so for many years to come.

We have stayed in this lovely hotel before and we found it to really great. This trip unfortunately we found the service of the staff to be poor. We had to continually follow up and look for staff to order drinks. We waited over an hour for tea at our breakfast and were then served Rooibos when we had asked...

Dear guest, Thank you for your review, our sincere apologies for the waiting time of your tea with breakfast. We have been able to track down what happened as it was last Sunday morning. The waiters did confirm there was confusion with your order as it came in at the same time at the bar as an order from a...

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon in October, and as always it was absolutely fantastic!!! We arrived to find champagne, chocolates and rose petals in our room, everything was clean and the staff is fantastically trained and professional.....one particular gentleman brought me coffee at 23:00 pm with a smile. The food is incredible as well with a wide...

Dear guest, Thank you so much for this absolute wonderful review. This is what we do it for and what makes our staff walk the extra mile. They all remembered you when we showed them your review. Looking forward seeing you again. With us you are family. Royal family!

We stayed here for the 50% late walk in special, because the hotel was relativley empty we got one of the standard rooms overlooking the garden. This room was absolutley wonderful and we would have paid full price for another night but they only had the standard rooms in the hotel available and they were definitly not worth the same...

Dear guest, We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us in one of the garden rooms. All our standard rooms were upgraded a few years ago to the highest standards and all offer the same facilities and are similar in size. Some guests prefer the garden while others prefer to be in the main building. Like I said the...

Dear guest, Thank you for your positive review. Comments like these make it all worth while trying to improve on ourselves every day. Although in the country and a bit away from the mainstream facilities our aim is to offer the same service as one may expect in Cape Town or Franschhoek. We believe that achieving this in combination with...

Super comfortable beds, nice linen, air-conditioning, en suite marble bathroom with separate shower and bath, room service, nice pool and sun deck, big garden with amazing views on Kasteelberg mountain, friendly staff. Need to say more? OK, historical colonial hotel, longest safari like veranda, “Out of Africa” feel, authentic colonial bar and more friendly staff. And although the town has...

Dear guest, We are thrilled you enjoyed your say so much. Every time we have a bigger following from Europe. Our beautiful picturesque valley, country friendliness and good service in combination with the colonial historical building seems a very appealing combination. We hope to welcome you back in the near future.

We took a day trip to Riebeek on what was going to be a day trip from Cape Town and so loved the fantastic charm of the Riebeek valley that we decided to stay the night at the Royal Hotel. A hotel that can’t be ignored on a colonial trip is this oldest hotel in the Western Cape. With the longest front veranda south of the Limpopo it has a colonial façade even the Mount Nelson can be jealous of. Old world feel with all modern day’s facilities. We are very sorry to learn that we have not been able to live up to your expectations. It is most unfortunate this incident took place.
