As a regular traveler I get to experience service offerings from a large number of Lodges, Guest Houses, Hotels etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the service experienced at Mogalakwena River Lodge, it far exceeded my expectation. From the moment that I arrived till the time I departed. The friendly staff and owners went above and beyond to attend to my every need and requests. The food served was fit for a king’s banquet and the rooms could easily accommodate those with the highest expectations when it comes to cleanliness and attention to detail. Nights were spend around the fire where travel stories were exchanged and friendships forged. This was by far the most memorable experience I had in all my years of traveling. The staff and owners a like made you feel as if you part of the family and not just another guest. I'll definitely recommend the lodge to anybody that's looking for that once in a lifetime experiences; whether traveling for business or in my private capacity I'll most definitely book my stay with Mogalakwena River Lodge again.…
No activities that were advertised on webpage was available over a long weekend because the staff wasn't working. Some photos used on the website wasn't even taken on the property itself. Not a variety of beverages and the beer wasn't really cold. When asked for beers on ice, it was presented in a plastic cooler box. Filthy plaster on the side of the pool. As guests we had to wipe off the outside cushions on the chairs, full of dust and leaves. The blow dryer was broken. No 2 point plugs in the room to charge your phone. Remaining staff was very helpful and friendly under the circumstances. Food was good. Lovely room.
We find it very expensive for what we get. The geyser was leaking in the toilet and we had to put towels on the floor. We reported the problem - but nobody attend to it. The room was not serviced. Fixed menu - no choices.
Set un a great location, that us where it ends. This place is run down, its staff clearly willing and fairly pleasant but far from competent and its food ar very best very average. The Vakentines special was simple false advertising and a low pou t was when our steak knives were, after a long and unexplained delay, removed and replaced, and we were served KFC-like disgusting chicken in small portions. The room leaked in 3 places. The level of a backpackers at prices which do not March that standard. Disgusting overall and will not merit a return visit or recommendation.
Mariaan from Boelamien referred us to Mogalakwena for Christmas lunch. Isabella was very professional and handled the booking quickly and provided us with a menu and costs. Grounds and gardens are very neat and the X-factor must be the rim flow pool on the river. The venue was clean and had a real Christmas feel to it. Staff were neatly dressed and tables neatly set with white table cloths draped to the floor. Food was great, well presented and tasty. It was really a memorale day and a Christmas that we will remember for a very long time. Thank you to all involved who worked and treated us well.
After a hellish 10 hour drive, I finally made it to this pet-friendly B&B. I arrived and it was hours before I sought my room, for good reason! The hosting couple were so warm and welcoming that we ended up chatting for the better part of the first evening. I elected to stay an extra night (thankfully they had availability - the guest house itself was exceptionally busy as it was peak season and clearly a popular spot!). Close to all amenities and equipped with everything you could desire, my dogs safely enjoyed the garden whilst I enjoyed the friendly company and atmosphere. I would definitely seek this B&B out in future. Oh! And the breakfast!! Super delicious and more than ample.
Always a nice stay over with friendly reception and safe parking. Homely and welcoming. This is a definate stay over without the frills and fuss. All you need for an overnight or longer stay. Have never been disappointed in this establishment.
We were warmly welcomed on our arrival. Had a delicious dinner next to the open fire. The setting was very peaceful and romantic. The chalet was very comfortable and the we slept very well. We were woken in the morning by the sounds of the Bush. Had a good breakfast overlooking the river while buck came to drink. Overall it was a magical stay, next time we will stay longer!
Really enjoyed the personal touch at this small lodge which gives close attention to guests and is a beautiful spot with lots of art and local flair making it a unique and special destination. Great staff, lovely accommodation and good food served in a fabulous environment.
There is a rhythm to the location, especially the river, and the people that soon leads to a relaxed state of body and mind. You can choose to be as active or sedentary as you like. Watch the birds. Take a walk. Ride your bike. Do a game drive. It's up to you.
