was a two room operation run by a mother and a daughter. The daughter speaks excellent English, and the mother clearly understands what is being said. While there were a number of fancy restaurants at the resorts up near the caves, the best food we had was right at the guest house. I could tell this was “real” Thai food, not some tourist version. We ate whatever they were eating that night, and all of it was good. They were also kind enough to lend us one of their scooters for the duration of our stay and hang out with us around a campfire in the evenings. A nice addition to the place is their dog Star. She is the cleanest dog in Thailand, and also the only one I’ve seen sit and ride around on the back seat of a scooter. I’d like to return to Chiang Dao just so we can stay here again.

I had a memorable stay at Fai's homestay. Fai picked me up from the bus station and sent be back to the bus station on her scooter. The room and bathroom were clean and large and the wifi worked great. It is away from the City, but I enjoyed the quietness and the scenery all around was stunning. My favourite part was learning to cook some Thai dishes with Fai and her mom. As I had read that their cooking was delicious, I asked Fai and her mom if I could help them prepare meals. They ended up prepping all the ingredients and then let me cook as they walked me through each recipe step-by-step! The food was simple, delicious and fresh! We made rice porridge, pad thai and coconut chicken soup. Her mom even cooked me a meal to take on the bus. The cost of the meals was incredibly reasonable. The stars were incredible, but unfortunately in October there were too many mosquitoes at night to enjoy the night skies. Fai and her mom invited me into their home. Fai's English is superb and she would translate so that her mom and I could communicate. We watched Thai news and they told me all about their lives. It felt like being part of their family for two days! Thanks for your warm hospitality.

Great little homestay in Chiang Dao. The owner is extremely helpful and will pick you up in town or at the bus station so you don't have to worry about trying to find the place. Meals are simple Thai food, but cheap and tasty. Very friendly dog. A coffee shop near by. And the 'city' of Chiang Dao a short moto (or bike) ride away.

We loved staying here, and we will definitely return in the future if we are ever in the area. The two women (mother and daughter) who run it are very kind and helpful, and will go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. They allowed us to use one of their motorbikes, chatted with us, made a fire and let us hang out with them after supper one evening, and gave us a ride to the bus station with our bags without us even asking. The daughter speaks English very well, and her mother makes the best Thai food we have ever had! They also have a lovely dog who is clean, and very friendly after she gets to know you. Both the room and meals are a very good value for the price. It is a nice place to stay, but also allows you to save a little on accomodation to spend on other activities. Definitely worth more than a few nights stay. From the drive way you also have a nice view of the mountain and it is great for star gazing. If you are looking for a personal experience, and to support a great small business, we highly recommend you stay here during your visit to Chiang Dao.
