Front desk staff were attentive, kind, friendly and professional. Attached to the hotel was a lovely rooftop bar perfect for drinks while watching the sunset. Unfortunately, we found it after dark on our last night. Kiran’s Indian restaurant is amazing. If you enjoy Indian food, it should not be missed!
While the beds were rock hard, you can't beat the location--right across from the beach. The pool is very nice and the front desk staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Affordable and great location.
Good location faced the beach. Good service and cozy atmosphere. Room service is very quick. Pool is very relaxed and full of sunshine. Breakfast is good and service is good. No need for deposit. WiFi is covered everywhere on the hotel. It is good choice for family and kids.
Very old hotel. Service was okay. Breakfeast was okay. Close location to the beach. Pool was very standard, a little dirty. Gym very tiny and smelly. The ladies who worked in the front were great and extremely nice.
The operators of Karon Sea Sands Resort did a good job of taking photos that makes a tired, bland hotel in need of refurbishment look good. This is not a resort. It is not even on the beach. It is a half block from the beach on the wrong side of a busy road. As usual in all Thai properties, the welcome was enthusiastic and friendly and I was given a glass of fresh orange juice at check-in, which was much appreciated. A receptionist accompanied me to my room on the fourth floor, but it would have been useful to have been shown how things work whilst she was there. I tried to turn on the TV, but it was proving difficult. There were two remote controls; one for the television and the other for the satellite receiver, but no instructions and the list of channels that the hotel provides does not correspond with the channels on the box itself. The room was large with a wide balcony overlooking the swimming pool three floors below. Cleanliness although reasonably good was not perfect. There were long black hairs in the wash basin, in the bath and on the bed and I found the floor dusty and gritty. Always wash cups and glasses before drinking from them at this hotel. I observed the stewardesses clean them with toxic cleaning chemicals and wipe them with towels that guests have used, which is unpleasant; revolting even! There is quite a good wi-fi service when it is working, but it has poor bandwidth, so when there were lots of people using the internet, such as late morning and during mid afternoon the system would crash. There is a small refrigerator for guests’ use, which is a nice touch and the hotel provides teabags, coffee and a kettle as well as four 500ml bottles of water, which are replaced if used. Lose the glass water bottle, however, and they will charge a hefty THB 100.00 per bottle. You can buy three full bottles of the same water for that sum in the grocery store nearest to the hotel. There is a desk in the room, which is handy for working at, but with no electric or USB sockets anywhere near it for charging laptops and mobiles, and no desk light! The only two electrical outlets are above the two bedside tables. That is not an ideal location to try and work. The offerings at breakfast were limited. The only fresh fruit offered each day was pineapple and watermelon slices. In Thailand I would have expected a more varied selection including tropical fruits. The omelettes were cooked to order and were tasty. Coffee at 08.45hrs was bitter, lukewarm and tasted like it had been left out since early morning. All the Thai staff in all departments were so friendly, happy and helpful. There are some trainees working there that are eager to please and always wear lovely, genuine smiles.…
