The Slate The Slate - high expectations, exceeded! We have stayed at Nai Yang Beach several times over the past ten years, it’s a not only its own unique little community, it’s a also great base for travelling in Thailand and other parts of Asia. This is the first time we have stayed at The Slate, having visited there a few times for its superb Black Ginger restaurant, a must do experience. We were excited to book for a week at The Slate, we had very high hopes and it really delivered. Firstly, the decor of the public spaces and the rooms are brilliant although hard to describe adequately. It’s quite majestic in scale, soaring ceilings, huge artworks, dramatic feature lighting. It really is a must-see. We stayed in a pool suite, the most basic of the pool rooms, and it was superb, those high ceilings and decor again, with a perfect size terrace garden for the 2 of us. The spa area is divine. The garden settings and all three public pools are brilliant, and the hospitality, whether at one of the happy hours, pools, breakfast rooms, or Rebar, or back at Black Ginger, top line. A bonus is that you can walk from the back of the hotel directly out into central Nai Yang and onto the beach. A bunch of great eating options that never detracted from the wonderful experience we had at The Slate. Truly the best of both worlds.

Dear Janet and Steve, Thank you for this wonderfully written feedback. Knowing that your stay exceeded your high expectations is one of the greatest compliments to receive. We are thrilled that you had such an impeccable experience, and your kind comments pertaining the high service level has been shared with all my colleagues. Being quite new to Nai Yang myself, I must admit the charming little beach town has indeed a lot to offer in terms of nature, biodiversity, and even a hint of nightlife. Since we are adjacent to Sirinat National Park, various exotic birds and animals can also be found on our 25-hectare resort grounds. Hopefully we may welcome you back in the not too distant future. Please feel free to contact me directly if I can be of any help with your arrangements. All the best, Manuel Mandaglio Hotel Manager The Slate

Hotel's Favourite
Like pretty much everyone who reviews this hotel, we cannot recommend it enough. I wondered if it was 'too good to be true', but it really is that good! From the moment you arrive, you feel like you are in an oasis of calm and luxury and are treated as if you are the most important person there. The resort is absolutely enormous! It took us a couple of days to even find the third pool - it wasn't a problem as all of the pools are incredible and you will find one to suit your mood (we changed location of pool on a daily basis......just because we could LOL!) One of the adult pools has a swim up bar which is just gorgeous - Tor is the barman there and is quite the character - he is amazing and will look after you royally. Ian and Dang are on duty round the other pools and will also look after your every need, and when you go for lunch at the restaurant, Ball will be on duty to make you feel special. The food is amazing - Soo at Breakfast will cater for your every need and with such a huge (and delicious) selection of foods you could spend all day there and will be spoilt for choice. The rooms are gorgeous - really comfy beds and a really good replenishment system of drinking water in your room each day - even the housekeeping staff are really friendly - the staff work ethic throughout the hotel is the best we have ever experienced in over 20 years of travelling to Thailand. The hotel itself is so well designed, it will take your breath away. Whoever dealt with the little touches as a nod to the history of being a tin mine deserves a medal - wherever you look or turn, there is a style statement which adds to the whole experience without being over the top. We bought lots of things from the hotel shop as we loved the whole design. My husband had a few health issues whilst we were there which were dealt with swiftly and professionally by the in house First Aid team, something we really appreciated as it is scary being ill when on holiday in a foreign country. Nothing was too much to ask. Nai Yang itself is also really lovely - the beach is just outside the hotel where you can find all sorts of food, massages from the ladies in the yellow tops on the beach (who are SUCH fun - give them a go - they've been without any earnings during all of Covid so are delighted to welcome you) and sunset bars to die for - the view is amazing when you watch the sun dissolve into the sea - just magical. As everyone has said, this really is a top class hotel with service and attitudes from the staff making this a truly memorable experience - we will be back as soon as we possibly can!

Dear Guest, Wow, what a headline! Your review is too good to be true :-) but after sharing with the team, they all agree that it is true. You made Khun Tor, Khun Ian, Khun Soo, Khun Dang and Khun Ball very proud today and this give them all further encouragement to continue to exceed guests expectations. It is them who make our guests feel at "home away from home" and deliver the genuine Thai hospitality the country is known for. I am glad to hear that you managed to find the third pool in only a couple of days, it took me more than 3 days when I started working at The Slate...LOL The Slate was designed by world-famous architect Bill Bensley. It combines industrial elements with traditional Thai décor and cutting edge art, set against a lush and opulent tropical paradise. I am thrilled to hear that you have enjoyed the style and the little touches. I am glad to know that our team were able to assist your husband and they all wish him well. We can't wait to welcome you back for another memorable stay, and please feel free to contact me directly and I will be more than happy in looking personally after your arrangements. With warm regards, Claude Claude Sauter General Manager / The Slate claude@theslatephuket.com

You do not stay at The Slate you experience it. From the unique styling of every restaurant, bar and room, to the picturesque grounds, every twist and turn in this resort provides another visual treat. We have been visiting since 2015 every year and the main reason for our return is the amazing staff and their real and genuine desire to provide every guest with a wonderful stay. A special mention to the fantastic Apple who went above and beyond to ensure that once again as returning guests we still received the same level of attention and Ian at pool 3 who once again made sure that we along with every other guest has the best level of service at the poolside. From the check-in to our departure, the level of service and help we received was faultless. If you want the most relaxed and carefree break then definitely visit The Slate. The style of the bars and restaurants are definitely unique and need to be seen to be believed. This is one impressive resort that stands apart from the regular corporate hotels and one that will be visited for years to come

Dear Robert, Thank you for your annual return visit, and it was a great pleasure to have you once again as our guest. We are thrilled to read of your satisfaction, and your kind feedback is motivating to all of us. Khun Apple and Khun Ian are some leading examples of the service we strive to provide, and surely they will be excited to learn of your appreciation. While Black Ginger obviously enjoys the highest reputation among our uniquely designed restaurant & bars, I would like to invite all readers to experience fabulous Rebar, Rivet and Tin Mine Syndicate, preferably exactly in that order. Rebar is the perfect place for a sundowner, followed by premium cuts at Rivet, and an after-dinner cocktail at Tongkah Tin Syndicate. For those who wonder, Tongkah was the original name for Phuket, and the bar displays the Owning Family's fascinating collection of tin mining memorabilia on its walls and ceilings. We are already looking forward to hosting your stay once again coming year. Please feel free to contact me directly for any possible assistance with your arrangements. Just returned from an awesome week at The Slate. The staff are incredible, the Pearl Suite was a real treat and our meal at the Black Ginger restaurant was superb. The design of the resort is quite something. To top it all our flight home was delayed overnight and we were accomodated without any hesitation, given a 4.30am transfer to the airport and a beautiful breakfast box to send us on our way. Thank you all ...see you next year. Kop Khun Ka

Tries to be unique (mining industry theme), but fails to impress at a functional level. Hits (1) large spacious grounds and plants aplenty (2) our room was spacious (D-Buk family suite) (3) location is very near the international airport Misses (1) does not have private beach (but has access to public beach) (2) lack of functionality - bath towels squeezed into a cloth bag; it was an effort taking it out from the bag, imagine putting it in!) - toilet roll holder in the form of a large screw, but couldn't be screwed in place securely - lack of wall hangers for clothes and towels - liquid bath and shampoo gel containers could probably be in pump bottles for less wastage and better hygiene (3) impractical design (or maybe I just cannot appreciate it) - knobs that are made of 'rusty' screws (they certainly look rusty but am not sure if I should wash my hands every time after touching them) - full scale mirror right in front (i.e. 20 cm from your knees when seated on the toilet bowl), or mirror on the ceiling (yes, ceiling) of the shower cubicle.

Dear Quito2003, Thank you for being our guest, and for the time you have taken to share your constructive comments. While we are glad to read that you were pleased with various aspects of your stay, we have also taken well note of the areas which leave room for improvement. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconveniences caused. We do have indeed a challenge with the toilet roll holders, and are currently looking at alternatives, however without changing the particular design. As for the missing options to hang ones cloths, the separate dressing room does actually provide ample space, and we are happy to provide additional hangers if required. Last but not least, thank you for highlighting the missing hooks for the bath towels, and we are pleased to inform you, that we are on process to increase from 2 to 4 hooks for all Family Suite rooms. We sincerely hope we may receive an opportunity to host your stay once again. Please do contact me directly for any possible help with your arrangements, I will be happy to assist. Kind regards, Manuel Mandaglio Hotel Manager The Slate

HANDS DOWN one of the most stunning hotels I’ve stayed in. This hotel was designed for the discerning traveler. Everything is unique and you won’t find it anyplace else. Three nights in a stunning pool plunge suite and our every need was looked after. Housekeeping multiple times a day, insect incense at night, and a beautiful flower display for our anniversary. The best part though - THE COOKING CLASS was the highlight of our trip to southern Thailand. An amazing trip to the market followed by hands on instruction from the head chef of Black Ginger. We made some amazing dishes that we can’t wait to cook at home. Having stayed here and at the St. Regis, I’d pluck The Slate any day. The only and I do mean only downside is that it is close to the airport and very far from the marina or other activities. In traffic it took us 2+ hours to get back. That said, it’s an oasis of paradise.

Dear SaasAdam, Thank you for choosing The Slate as your preferred destination on the island. We appreciate the time you have taken to share the insights of your stay, and your kind feedback has been forwarded to our entire team. With a dedicated kitchen venue for Cooking Classes only, this is definitely a Slate experience not to be missed. Great you opted for the visit at the local market, which is an experience by itself already. We wish you lots of fun while cooking the learned Thai dishes back home for family and friends. We are looking forward to welcoming you back whenever your travels lead you to Phuket again. As mentioned to you earlier, please do reach out to me directly if I may be of any help with your arrangements. Best regards, Manuel Mandaglio Hotel Manager The Slate

The Slate is most definitely one of the nicest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The rooms (I was in a pool suite) are amazingly beautiful, the attention to detail and the quality is exceptional. The hotel facilities are wonderful, the 3 swimming pools are all gorgeous, with so much space - the gardens are stunning. Best of all is the service, WOW, the friendly, efficient and professionalism of all the staff is truly world class. I cannot wait to visit again.

We stayed at several top properties in Phuket, this was by far the best. Loved the "Adult Only" pools, beautiful pools surrounded by very mature ash colour palm trees, gorgeous, relaxing. No blaring music at all, fantastic, just the sound of the water and the birds. The breakfast was lovely, great coffee and lots of delicious fresh fruits. The room was very clean and had a "Wow" factor, we stayed in a Pearl suite, amazing features inside, giant shower and bath on the balcony, themed rooms. The room itself had the most beautiful smell of "White Champaka" - I just had to buy the burner and the oil while I was in Thailand as it was so lovely. Another fantastic thing that we loved, was that you just walked outside the wall of the resort and there were lots of little bars and restaurants all on the beach, wonderful. We went on to stay at "The Amari" (supposedly far superior) after staying here - we really wished we hadn't and that we had just stayed here, it was much better, it truly was lovely.

Dear Tina, Thank you for the time you have taken to share your positive impressions. We are thrilled to know you had such a wonderful and relaxing experience. We are fortunate to offer three different swimming pools, each with its very own concept. Guests can choose from the family Lagoon pool, over the peaceful Snakeskin Pool, and finally Pulley Pool & Bar with its infamous swim-up bar, the perfect spot to socialize and mingle, even more so during the daily happy hours starting from 16:00 hrs onward. Great to read as well of your satisfaction regarding the breakfast variety, and that the recent upgrade to an industrial bean-to-cup coffee machine is paying off. We look forward to welcoming you back during your next travels to the "Pearl of Andaman". Please feel free to contact me directly for any possible assistance with your arrangements. My wife and I stayed at The Slate for 5 Nights in a Pearl Bed Suite. I use the word remarkable because in every sense whether it be quality, service, amenities, staff this hotel had everything one could wish for. In our opinion this hotel was definitely for the discerning traveller. It certainly is a very unique experience and congratulations to the owner and Bill Bentley for having the vision to establish such a wonderful hotel. The staff were really lovely in all areas of the hotel, in particular Khun Sue at Tin Mine Restaurant, A very experienced member of staff who provided outstanding service. Khun Bow at Black Ginger Restaurant also provided excellent service. Please pass on our thanks to all the staff for outstanding memories that will last forever. It goes without saying that we would love to return in the not too distant future.
