Quiet mountain is perfect for a retreat from Joburg. A quick drive, an hour max. The grounds are immaculate and the walk up the mountain is beautiful and relaxing. The food was also absolutely delicious and all the staff were so friendly and promptly attended to any request. We will definitely be back!
A romantic weekend getaway for my partners Birthday was made just perfect by booking at Quiet Mountain. The food was phenominal, with a choice to cater to every pallet, sipping red wine by the fire in the grand lounge was wlecome. We will be back, and want to see all the gardnes in their summer beauty.
We have visited Quiet Mountain on a number of occasions and it remains the gold standard for places to escape the rat race and catch our breath. Terrence is a consummate and gracious host, each room has its own personality (room 7 is a particular favorite), the food is delicious, service excellent...in short, you couldn't ask for more. I find it odd that Budmarsh, a place we visited recently and found very disappointing, should receive a higher ranking from trip advisor...
Stayed at this establishment recently for a work-related visit. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained Guest Rooms. Lounge and Dining Room are beautifully decorated, warm and charming with an interesting array of antiques and bric-a-brac The food is scrumptious and beautifully presented by courteous friendly waitrons It is a great pity then that John, one of the owners, who acts as primary host to the guests goes from being quite abrupt and abrasive on the phone to being momentarily charming and helpful and accommodating but then easily reverts to a rather irritable, impatient and abrasive way. This was discussed amongst our group as more than a few people had noticed it. Despite us being a very quiet nerdy bunch of people, John seemed quite irritated with…
Firstly, the property is called Quiet Mountain Country House and not Country Club as it is sometimes listed. We have been regular visitors there over the past 15 years. With quirky decor lovingly collected over years from the surrounds, the rooms are comfortable and homely. There are rooms with fire places ideal for winter, beautiful gardens with walkways for summer. Excellent food and service too! Tip: try room 7 for that extra special weekend away.
Quiet Mountain is a place suspended between - it buffers and cushions and nurtures and pampers. It is the quintessential Joburg weekend getaway. From the king sized bed, to the fudge in the pottery dish, to the coffee discretely delivered in the morning, to the stylishly prepared and served meals, to the unbelievable estate, to the starry night sky, to the view of the mountain that just stand there, and has done, and will do. Thank you, Terence and John, for offering your home to the weary. Step out of the rat race and into the soft, still, slow dropping of peace.
What a relaxing stay, in the valley of the Magaliesberg ranges one hour drive from Johannesburg. Its a quiet setting in a farm house with onsite resturant. With immaculately clean and presented rooms and bathrooms, there is no details left out. The service was excellent, weather it be food and drinks by the pool or questions answered. There are bush walks of varying distances in the region even to the top of the mountain if you are energetic and adventurous. Hoarse riding is also available if you know how. The food and presentaion was superb and tasty. World class eating. Terrence and John are fantastic hosts and have a very good repurtation which has been upheld for many years. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone wanting a day or 2 away from the hustle and…
