A unique experience. We arrived at night to a little thatched cottage with our own little pool just a few minutes walk from the main house. The walk to dinner with a torch, following a path lit by fairy lights was just magical. An eclectic dining room with food that was delicious. Breakfast was served on a jetty over a pond with swans and little monkey for company... I could go on and on.. The service was exceptional, the grounds beautiful, the food delectable. This was an absolute treat. The experience you need to have for your self.
Spent 2 days at Quiet Mountain in March. Excellent place to stay - really quiet. The food is excellent, the peace & quiet is amazing. No television in the rooms - what an absolute pleasure. Will we go back? Most definitely!
We had a 2 night stay with family near to the end of our holiday in South Africa. Our room, more like a suite, was wonderful. Spacious and comfortable, separate bath and shower, bedroom and separate sitting room and covered verandahs. Coffee was delivered to our room at the time we wanted in the morning. There was a full breakfast and then hours of lazing by the pool. We could call from the pool for drinks and anything we wanted for lunch so we weren't disturbed from our pool time. Dinner in the evening was superb and there was an excellent choice of drinks. The sitting and dining rooms are filled with such a quirky mass of paintings and ornaments influenced by England, Africa and India. Such different things juxtaposed and always something new to see. The place is in the…
Love, love, love Quiet Mountain. Our first visit to this tranquil hideaway was in 1999 and the outstanding service has not changed a bit. Rooms are individually decorated and unique in size, each with a private outdoor place to enjoy. The Country House grounds are huge and well manicured. Both John and Terence are incredibly kind and interesting characters. The food is just scrumptious and they try their best to meet dietary requirements. Love the Olde Worlde Charm and atmosphere of this Country House. It does not have many rooms so a person can be pretty much in your own space if needed. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is a great visit all year round. Good for bird watching. Nothing like the starlit sky of Quiet Mountain...
Our stay at Quiet Mountain was really lovely. The gardens are spectacular! The staff were all extremely kind and accommodating. The food was outstanding and fresh. Overall a fantastic, relaxing getaway only 40 min from PTA/JHB.
I cannot fault this place, but luckily for those in the know, it is quite hard to find. It is small and so hard to secure a booking, and yet that permits a quality of personal service which is quite heart warming to find. It is essential to have your own transport, particularly as the nearby Pilanesberg National Park has to be visited. I have traveled extensively across the world and yet I would rate this place as exceptional in quality of food and accommodation. It struggles with some tech facilities but I happily forgo those for the peace and tranquility this place offers
Very special place just outside Johannesburg. Amazingly genuine feeling with beautiful antiques and decor. John makes an incredible host. The food is beyond gourmet with each of the 4 courses more delicious than the night before!!
I can only agree with all the other reviewers. This is a perfect getaway from the bustle of Joburg. The rooms are beautiful and tastefully decorated and furnished, the gardens look loved and nurtured, the food is superb, and the welcome we received was warm and sincere. This is such a treasure I thought twice about posting a review - it's a place you want to keep a secret! A haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. We will return - many times, I hope.
En route from Botswana to Joburg and back to London. 90 minutes from O R Tambo Int Airport this is an idyllic place to start or end a South African trip ( or of course a weekend retreat for RSA residents). The cabins are more like apartments, beautifully furnished and the grounds are magnificently kept with fountains and features everywhere. The evening meal was as good as I have eaten anywhere. To work off that food there is a 8k walk up the Quiet Mountain- hard work both ways , but the view makes it all worthwhile - stunning. 2 things not perfect - the magnificent swimming pool replete with lion fountain was icy cold at end of May (but it is winter after all)- and the second thing? I was on my own and this is a place to be shared with your partner. Definitely 6 stars out of…
Just under an hour from Johannesburg lies a little slice of heaven. Quiet Mountain, truly, is the perfect weekend getaway. The accommodation is elegantly comfortable, the food superb, and the hosts congenial. Outstanding service from the moment we got here. Will certainly spend more weekends here. It is deserving of 6 stars ( sadly the maximin is 5).
