We stayed here the night before we did a sunrise hot air balloon ride at Bill Harrop’s. When we arrived we were greeted by Washington (D.C.) who was so polite and helpful with suggestions of other activities in the area. We stayed in Room/Lodge #9 which was exceptionally clean and so cozy. We had dinner at the restaurant which was phenomenal, D.C. was our host at dinner and he made sure every little detail was perfect. The property is immaculate and has beautiful landscaping, along with a great pool. I would highly recommend staying here.

This was our 2nd stay and as before we were made to feel welcome on arrival and the check-in was handled very smoothly. Our accommodation (4 rooms) was well set up and really comfortable. The chef, Raymond, excelled himself providing great food for 2 vegan, 2 halaal and 2 'normal' guests. As before, the ever friendly Washington looked after all our needs very efficiently. Well done.

What an amazing place! The setting is absolutely beautiful. I organised a 60th birthday party from Cape Town- Hayley was so helpful- everything was done via email. When we arrived there, everything was organised. The staff, including the manager Raymond, was helpful and kind. The food at the restaurant and for the party was delicious. Our stay was absolutely amazing- I did not want to leave....and the kids had such an awesome time too:)

We stayed for 2 nights at Mokoya Lodge. I booked room no 11, we got room no 12, which is tiny and very dark, not light as the video on the website suggests. We could change to room no 21, which is light and much bigger. But it doesn’t feel cosy, some furniture needs an upgrade. Breakfast was a tiny muesli & joghurt, without any fruit. The hot breakfast was basic. Dinner was ok. But to sum up the entire Lodge lacks the feeling of beeing gorgeous as the self description pretends.

No TV or radio or any peace distractions. Out in the bush and surrounded by trees and animals, we really had a reboot weekend. It was so quiet and peaceful and had trail walks that are just refreshing. Loved their restaurant, breakfast was great and dinner even better. Not far from cradle of humankind. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Mokoya lodge is situated in a very tranquil setting, with beautiful reviews of the Magalieburg Mountains.

The reason why we booked at this lodge was because they have a Hot Air Balloon launch site which I had booked as a birthday present for my boyfriend.

Upon arrival we were given a room that was below standards that we are used to. What seemed like dirty carpets and Mildew in the shower is the last thing we expect when we go for a weekend away.
When I called the manager on duty to speak to him about , his reaction was very impolite, disrespectful and the most defensive than I've experience at any hotel or lodge before...

When I asked him for a refund for the second night cos by then we were ready to leave if it wasn’t for the hot air balloon ride, his answer was “No – because I don’t see why U don’t want to stay here!”
The way he said it was offensive as if we were trying to scam you out of the second night.
Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed at all at his attitude. Especially since money is the last of our worries…

Eventually we were given a better room that was much nicer and cleaner than the previous room.
Our thought was "why didn’t we get this in the first place?"

We were supposed to stay from Friday til Sunday, but left early on Saturday as we did not feel welcome there at all.

I am very disappointed by the way your General manager’s impoliteness.

The sad part is, we would have definitely come back some other weekend as the Hot Air Balloon ride was cancelled due to the weather and we need to reschedule for another weekend.

First impressions make such a huge impact…

Great food every time. There are some really nice quiet walks on the property through the forest and open plains as well. Very quiet just the spa experience was not the greatest as we asked for a full body massage but did not get one. We will definitely go back to the lodge and the restaurant again.

What a lovely place to unwind. The grounds are kept neat and tidy. We were welcomed by Precious and One..yes that is actually his name.

Lunch was a simple menu selection of toasted sandwiches, chips and salad next to the pool. We decided to take a relaxing walk on the grounds. There is a MTB trail and walking trail on the property.

We opted for the garden rooms. No frills but with most amenities and a tea and coffee station. No TV in the room and no wi-fi. They do mention this on their website.

Dinner at the Sweet Thyme restaurant was cosy with the fire- place and food from the set menu was prepared expertly by the cheff Juno. Perfect for a day outing and a sleepover.
