Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at da Vinci gorilla lodge, the staff there are so helpful and friendly and even though in these difficult times with covid affecting the number of visitors, in fact I was the only guest for my three nights the staff were still very attentive.

Provided a fire in the lodge hot water bottles in the bed, even boot cleaning after the trekking.
The food was fresh and varied and the lodge was very clean.

The only downside was WiFi not available in the rooms and was a little intermittent in the main building.
But with everything going on as it is at the moment the staff did well to keep the place going to such a good standard.
Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area

What a hidden gem! We had such a wonderful stay at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge during our weekend to do a gorilla trek. The individual cottages are very spacious and comfortable, made even more cozy with fires and warm water bottle bottles in the bed at night. Service was excellent - we were sent off on our hike with a filling breakfast and a bag of snacks, and when we returned the staff offered complementary boot cleaning (for boots fully submerged in mud - no easy task) and foot massages. Cottages are very large can easily fit extra beds to accommodate a family traveling together. The location is perfect - in a quite, lush green spot at the base of the mountains and near the park entrance, so a brief 10 minute drive to begin your early morning hike. Perhaps most importantly, most of the accommodations in this area are WAY overpriced for what you get, probably skewed by the very high prices of the gorilla permits, but Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge felt like very good value for money. Would highly recommend it!

I stayed two nights and three days at the Da Vinci Lodge in mid-July when I trekked in the Volcanoes NP. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this would be a delightful stay. I was greeted by welcoming staff members with refreshing juice, a practice that continued each time I returned from a trek. The cottage is decorated in tasteful traditional Rwandan style and very well appointed with comfort furnishings. There’s a fireplace for cold nights and they provide hot water bottles that stay warm through the night. Staff takes your order for each meal after the previous meal, and each is prepared hot and delicious at your chosen time. The dining hall upstairs has a great view of the Virunga Mountains on clear mornings. On top of all this, staff here makes the stay even more special, with their attention to detail. I specially want to give a shout out to Charles and Deborah (? Not sure I recall the name right after staying at a few places) who handled all my meal and room related needs. Just an amazing place to stay at if you’re visiting the mornings Rwanda.

We spent 2 nights at the Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge and found the service significantly above our expectations. The greeting, food service, and post-trekking hospitality was amazing- we even received boot cleaning and a foot massage when we got back from our Golden Monkey hike!

The main lodge building was updated and comfortable, the menu was varied and tasty, and the staff even made a small charcoal fire next to our dinner table to keep our legs warm as the evenings got a little chilly.

The room was not as updated as the lodge, but had the amenities we needed for the stay. The staff checked on us constantly and made multiples fires in the fireplace in our cottage whenever we wanted.

We felt truly cared-for throughout the duration of our visit and plan to stay here again.

This lodge is exceptional in every way. The manager Tony consistently went above and beyond to ensure not only our needs were met but to anticipate and exceed in ways we didn't consider. Returning from gorilla trekking, they ensured our hiking shoes were promptly cleaned and ready for the next trek. Meals were delicious in a beautiful setting. I hated leaving and missed everyone there immediately. They truly feel as if you gained family members.

Clean, large and comfortable rooms! But what made the real difference is the amazing staff. From the greeting on arrival with fresh juices and help removing boots and trekking gear (including offers of a foot massage) to the scrumptious dinners prepared by Daniel the chef and even to the cozy wood fire laid nightly in our room along with hot water bottles in the comfy beds to be sure we didn't catch a chill.... we couldn't have wanted more.

Can't say enough good things about the staff (pic 1) .... From the managers Charles and Kelvin who were ALWAYS in the lobby ready to answer a question or get you a drink (they even made a good Irish Coffee when requested which they had not heard of 😉) to Daniel who works in laundry and is also an amazing artist, he taught me a traditional African game (Igisoro) which we played a few times. And there was the "Queen of the giant Jenga " game who setup the hand made jumbo sized Jenga game in the lovely courtyard and showed of her skills. She also worked in housekeeping along side Emanuel who is always friendly and ready to help with luggage or any other needs.

We were entertained one evening by local traditional dancers, who were terrific! (Pic 2 and 3)

The security team that maned the gate at all times made us feel very safe.

If you want to stay in a local lodge that truly captures the essence of the local culture... I highly recommend DaVinci

I can’t say enough about how awesome this place was. 1. We got fresh hot towels and juice when week checked in (and fresh hot towels everytime we came back!) 2. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was wonderful (shoutout to Kelvin and George!). They were always on hand to make sure my cup of ginger tea was member empty! We also had a wonderful evening local village dance that was great to watch with a bond fire! They also had turn down service every night which was an added plus. We also were right across the Diane fossey Ellen degeneres gorilla conservation center. Lastly, the food was phenomenal we got 3 course meals for every course fit for all dietary needs. Love this place- highly recommend for all your gorilla stays!

Individual bungalow's which are very roomy with fireplace, large bathroom and nice sitting furniture with a porch. They insured the fireplaces were burning wood and bringing coals keeping them heated. The dinners and breakfasts were very good. The staff was very friendly and accomdating.
They are very easy to find and they are within walking distance of the Diane Fossey Gorilla Research Center.
After coming back from hikes they washed your feet, cleaned your boots and washed the socks - interesting experience.

A peaceful retreat after a long day of hiking. Just down the road from the Ellen DeGeneres Dian Fossey research center, this lodge is in the perfect location. The staff was absolutely wonderful! DJ Kelvin brightened the atmosphere every dinner and encouraged us to play traditional games with other staff members. We truly felt like we were home, and the individual cabins are well maintained, private and very comfortable. If you're looking for a place to stay, look no further than the DaVinci Gorilla lodge!

This is a great place to spend a few nights for your gorilla trekking. The cabins are spacious and the fireplace and hot water bottles in the bed make it very cozy and warm at night. The open air lodge is a nice place to hang out after a day out in the jungle and the staff are attentive (possibly too attentive!) and friendly.
