Recently we booked an exclusive group trip (following the lockdown guidelines of course) and stayed at Kilima. The entire experience was beyond incredible! I cannot recommend this lodge enough! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and provided everything we needed. The service was absolutely excellent, from the lodge managers to the waiting staff and the spa therapists. No request was too much to ask for them and everything was executed with a smile. The food was amazing and beautifully plated! The Chef Eugene talked us through every meal presented and accommodated our meal requirements. The game drives were so enjoyable as well as being interesting, interactive and educational. The game lodge is situated in the most stunning location and the views were out of this world! The lodge managers JJ and Ria were incredible! Thank you so much for everything! We had the best stay and cannot wait to visit again in the near future! I have never stayed at a game lodge and experience such perfection as we did this weekend at Kilima private game reserve and spa! Thank you for everything.

We went to Kilima Private Game Reserve to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary.
From the moment we arrived there, everything was perfect. On arrival, Ria, the hostess, welcomed us with our welcome drinks.
The room was more than spacious, clean, neat and very luxurious.
We were lucky to see animals that came very close to the fence, as there is a waterhole and feeding area nearby.
We met Alicia, an outstanding top rated freaking awesome chef, that made the most delicious food for us. All meals were freshly prepared and baked by her and she put a lot of effort into our specific dietary needs.
Marcelle and her team from the spa, gave the greatest massages and we really felt relaxed when we were done. We didn't want it to end. 🙂
All the staff of Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa went out of their way to make our weekend very special.
We can highly recommend Kilima Private Game Reserve.
We will see you soon again!!!

On arrival, the manageress lied to us (2 couples together) about the availability of game drives that we could attend, forcing us to go on a game drive when we were not happy to, in order to still use our game drive opportunities. On our first night, it took 2 and a half hours for our dinner to arrive after we had ordered. Once the food arrived, it was cold. Portions sizes were also not the same for each person who had ordered the same dish. There was also no provision made for the other couple, who were vegetarian and had emailed Kilima a week prior to our stay to inform them of this. The manageress, when confronted with our complaints, simply stated that the receptionist had not passed on that information to the chef. This is totally unacceptable!
The food over the rest of the trip was really uninspiring, and dull. The service was also lackluster, apart from Andries who assisted us on our last night at Kilima. He was fantastic.

Staying at Kilima over the same period as us was a family with two small children, who screamed and caused havoc non-stop. No interventions were taken by Kilima staff when the children screamed at their dinner table (next to ours) and played loud videos on their iPads, which their parents obviously ignored.

All the above concerns were raised with the staff during our stay, who just stated that they were underprepared because they had accepted more bookings than they had expected for our stay.

In terms of activities during your stay, you will have to plan to leave the lodge during the day to keep entertained, as there is not much to do - there is a spa, a pool and a gym. We used our mornings and afternoons to explore other places near Tzaneen and Hoedspruit as there really is nothing to keep you busy if you are someone who is a busy body.

Since there is only a limited choice on the menu each day ,a daily change of menu would be a good idea .The rooms and the property are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The staff is courteous and obliging and overall the experience is an excellent one.

Wow... What a great experience we had. We stayed in kilima for 3 days as we were celebrating my husband's birthday and we loved every minute. We were very well received. The entire staff was super friendly from the cleaner, the chef, the restaurant, the game drive personnel "oupa" and the manager. The food was scrumptious.. Would Def visit again. The rooms are very clean and taken very good care of. We loved our stay. The massage was out of this world💕💕💕

Our visit at Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa was truly an unforgettable experience. Total relaxation in a spectacular game lodge with a difference - top class food, service and accommodation in an unspoiled environment.
Kilima is one of those places your heart always yearns to return to. It has become the benchmark to which we compare other game reserves we visit, it is just such a magical and fantastic place.
Your staff were so professional, and so friendly and engaged – very few properties get this as right as Kilima.
Everything about this place is fantastic, from the absolutely breathtaking nature, spectacular views, 5 star accommodation and cuisine to the service received and the friendliness of all the staff. An unforgettable experience!
Whether you are looking for the perfect bushveld dream wedding venue, 5 star honeymoon or just a unforgettable getaway, spa weekend or conference venue, Kilima will exceed your expectations.

What an unbelievable Wellness weekend it was. The staff has been extremely helpful, caring and super professional.
A HUGE thanks to Ria, Jonel as well as the rest of the staff, you all have made this past weekend unforgettable and I left with more than just a relaxed feeling but with many more friends made.
What an eventful experience this was from drumming circles to spa treatments, feeling like you're sleeping on a cloud and having delicious meals prepared by chef Ed!
Kilima is surely one place that just has to be written on the top of your bucket list.
I could not thank everyone involved enough. This was surely one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time and very much needed.
May anyone who visits Kilima experience the tranquility and calmness that I have.

one is always scared when booking unseen places especially online these days, pictures can always be doctored. So off we went, took the lonely sand road and the fears grew until we pulled up at the gate. What we were met with exceeded the photos and reviews. Rain changed some of our plans but the peaceful atmosphere got us to chill, something absent from life nowadays. Little did we know we needed the rest so our tummies could prepare for the feat that awaited us. I am a very fussy eater but the Chef and his team wowed us, bucket list ticked. As a Saffer we have this beauty but sadly don't get the opportunity to experience our beautiful country, well, this weekend that was made possible and my friends and family with me got to enjoy an experience of a life time. Thanks to the team, you worked well, spoilt us especially the Spa and i have had to go on a diet for all the food that my body consumed. i would rate this 15 out of 10
