My wife and I spent a wonderful overnight stay at the lodge. The room we were assigned was quaint and romantic. The main lodge was beautiful and comfortable. The food was fabulous and plentiful as was the drink selection. In order to be entirely accurate, I must say that my initial reason for visiting the lodge was to partake in a guinea fowl hunt. Unfortunately, that part of the experience was a bit disappointing as it appeared that little planning went into this hunt. That being said, I did manage to bag a couple of "guineas" and it must be understood that their expertise is in big game hunting and not birds. Overall my mission was accomplished and I was satisfied with the experience. I must give Gavin a special mention as he went out his way to make certain that…
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Mafigeni this past holiday season. The food was great; the staff friendly and helpful; and the accommodation secluded and beautiful. We highly recommend Mafigeni to anyone thinking of visiting the African bush.
My wife Felicia bought me a trip to Africa for my birthday, and it was the best birthday ever, thanks to the great folks at Mafigeni. From the time Alec met us in the airport until he dropped us off 10 days later, we were treated like royalty. The lodge is beautiful, the food is AMAZING, and the staff incredibly accommodating. The trip started as a photo safari, and the 2 days we spent in Krueger National Park with Alec and Raven were incredible. We saw so many magnificent animals, took hundreds of great pictures, and had a lot of laughs! Alec is so knowledgeable about all of Africa, but particularly about African wildlife, and Raven is just delightful. Since Alec is also the PH at Mafigeni, and I love to hunt, we spent a lot of time talking about hunting. I decided that…
This was my second visit to Mafigeni however this time I brought a friend who was on his first trip to Africa. He wanted to hunt, and I wanted to tag along. As I expected from my previous experience, the staff was extremely welcoming and well prepared for our visit, including meticulously prepared gluten-free meals which my friend required. The hunting was challenging, fun, and well thought out by PH Alec; my friend was able to fulfill his dream of hunting in Africa. In addition, in the midst of hunting we were able to explore the area by visiting attractions such as Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Kruger National Park with knowledgeable staff members. It makes such a difference to stay at a lodge where the employees have a vested interest in showcasing the country…
From the minute they meet you at the airport you realize you are in the best of hands. Our guide Riaan was a walking encyclopedia of the flora/fauna, and as a professional wildlife photographer, gave us the trip of a lifetime! The entire staff treated us like family and we enjoyed their hospitality immensely. The setting is gorgeous, guest houses were lovely and the food was plentiful and delicious! We had a traditional braaii for Thanksgiving! The lodge is furnished with amazing African artifacts which you could enjoy for hours on end! Close to many beautiful sights, they had us set up with many memorable excursions. They catered to our every need with a smile and the second we left we missed them!
