We were there in July 2018 and had a great time. The staff and guides especially Caroline and Leo who were assigned to us were so fun and informative. There was never a time we were concerned about safety or where to go with them at our side. We were a group of 4 and they were our exclusive guide. We had a few special requests such as visiting a rural school to take gifts from us and getting to church on Sunday. There was no problem with doing these things and special nearby attractions were added to make our days work. There was a glitch in flights that were booked so watch your connection that are set up. I would recommend Jill and her staff to even the most inexperienced travelers.
First time in South Africa and a private lodge so we did not know what to expect. We were very happy in our accomidations and how we were treated. We were given our own private guest house which was well equipped and rest full. The staff could not have been nicer and made us feel right at home from the first minute we arrived right up to our last day. Dinner was family style and you never new what it would be, since the main course was what ever wild animal was shot that day on the hunting trips the lodge also provides to its hunting guests. From water buffalo to Wart hog. It was great. All quests get there own personal guides for the full time they are there. We were lucky to have two guides for our stay one main guide and one who was still training. Both guides could not…
We had the most amazing trip to Mafigeni- From what I could see from other lodges in the area this lodge is pretty unique. Mafigeni is about 45-60 minutes outside of Hoedspruit and the Orpen Gate to the Kruger, so they really shine in making sure that you get an all-encompassing taste of the Limpopo region of South Africa-big game (really really BIG game!) animal interactions with everything from crocodiles to lions, to cheetahs, vultures, and we even kissed a hippo! We went zip-lining and even went on a river cruise on the Swadini dam (although the word "cruise" may be a bit generous) Many lodges take you on game drives on their property and you don't get a chance to go out and explore. Mafigeni- a different animal. Simply amazing. We booked an all-inclusive photo safari so…
Jill and the staff seemed to anticipate our every need and were one step ahead of us to ensure we never lacked for anything. The entire trip from the time we were picked up at the airport until we were dropped was beyond our expectations. There was so much to see and do and we never saw it all. Therefore we have rebooked to see some more but we are bringing a few friends to enjoy the wonderful hospitality provided by Mafigeni. Thank you All for such an awesome experience.
We just got home from an amazing, highly personalized trip with our awesome guide Gavin. We were met by Gavin at the airport and he was with us for our 11 days travel. We had amazing game drives on the Mafigeni 1500 arch private reserve, lion walk, Cheetah walk, feeding baby lions and holding various wild animals at the predator park and awesome Kruger Park experience as well as zip lining and hammerhead shark diving in Mozambique. We thank the entire staff for making us part of the Mafigeni family and we had a great experience and look forward to coming back one day thank you all for the amazing trip!
