7 of us stayed at Bukisa camp in July this year. We were looked after superbly by the lovely Mary who visited a couple of times a day. We self catered which was great and the facilities were excellent. The daily game drives and personal service were second to none and I would highly recommend this lovely experience. And would also urge everyone to fully support this organisation that is working tirelessly to look after wildlife that is constantly under threat. Thank you Louise!
We made a booking for 8 people - received an e-mail from Louise Joubert of Bukisa, cancelling the booking at very short notice. We were offered a time later, with the added 'bonus' of an extra day free. Again an issue with our booking, but again the 'bonus' of another extra day free. Eventually got a booking well in advance. Our booking cancelled again by Louise on very short notice. Then requested a refund from Bukisa. Unbelievable and disappointingly had to resort to legal action against Louise and her company to get our money refunded. NEVER NEVER EVER WILL WE RECOMMEND BUKISA!!
I loved this place. Absolute peace and quite in the heart of the bush veld. The game drives were personal, and passionate. My only complaint is the service...too much..the staff are always around. This does not allow for any private time while at camp
We went in February 2015, we were the only guests and were well looked after by the then ranger Johan, he has since left, as apparently many ohers have. Food was mediocre Tabetha the cook ran the roost, we had to eat to suit her programme, if she wanted to watch tv then we had to eat, if we wanted to rest first then she huffed. The accommodation was good but don't drop anything that will roll under the bedside table. The lodge and pool were very good and clean. The game drives were ok and we saw the rescued animal being fed etc. it seemed the owner just used the accommodation side as means to fund a very good cause but put little effort into interacting with the guests or promoting the charity. It was a good experience but one off only.
