So enjoyed my stay at Hillside Farm!
I was booked into this property last minute on a business trip and stayed in the thatched cottage with a bedroom with a double bed, and two single beds in the loft. The cottage is well equipped: Microwave, fridge and a small braai to use outside (to mention a few), and has undercover parking.
Due to the location cell reception is poor, but one can connect from certain vantage points if necessary.
The owners are very tentative and catered for my every need. Dinner was the best I ever had at any place I have stayed overnight.
Loved the view over the dam, the cattle in the field and the fast number of birds around.
Will definitely recommend this stay for a quiet weekend away, or even just for an overnighter on a business/private trip.

The perfect stop over from the KZN Coast to Kruger. Quiet and peaceful and Liz is the perfect host. Room was clean well appointed and tastefully decorated. The view over the pastures to the dam is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset with the reflections on the water. Meals were good hearty home cooking and highly recommended, Supper is on request and not included but is well worth the price.
We will definitely use it again.
Thanks Liz and Family

What a wonderful find on the way home. Kate and family were so warm and generous to us. Beautiful home made meals and all the goodies you need to make breakfast in the fridge. Warm heaters and electric blankets. And the bathroom is stunning. And it snowed.

Travelling from Salt Rock to the Kruger National Park, this place is exactly half way, 3kms off the main road and you are in the middle of nowhere. Great little thatched cottage with an upstairs room for our Son to sleep and fully equipped for self catering. The hostess is very welcoming and not over powering which is what we like. There is no wifi so she let us use their LAN connection to catch up on our emails.
Breakfast was perfectly presented and well cooked.
If we travel this route again we will definitely stay here.

I stayed here with my 6 year old son for 1 night while we were on our way to the Kruger National Park. Set off the beaten trap, we arrived at this little gem of a place with fabulous views of the dam. We stayed in the "Butterfly Cottage" which was super cosy with small breakfast bar, fridge and cooking facilities. Fantastic loft for the kids and very comfy main bedroom with en suite shower and WC. Lounge with TV. Lovely owners - were treated to a homecooked dinner at a small additional price of an already super reasonable rate, and also did laundry on request. Breakfast on a lovely patio in the sunshine. Big BIG thumbs up to the Kohlmeyers!

We spent one night at Hillside, it is ideally situated and a bit off the main road so nice and quiet, the room was neat and clean and a nice view over the dam, the breakfast was delicious and the owner welcoming and friendly.

Hillside B&B is the perfect stopover when travelling with children from Gauteng to the coast along the N2. It is situated about 15min drive off the N2 in a beautiful valley with sweeping uninterrupted views over endless rolling hills.

Liz and Gerald Kohlmeyer are the most welcoming and caring hosts, making your stay truly special. And they are absolutely amazing with children. For my girls, a night at Hillside is a highlight, not a stopover.

Beautiful comfortable accommodation, delicious food and lovely views. Our hosts Liz and Gerald (and the dogs!) could not be more friendly and welcoming. The location is in peaceful farming countryside. An excellent dinner (as well as breakfast) can be provided and is strongly recommended!
