Thank you Lin! We had a wonderful stopover at Chateau B&B on our way to Durban.

The family room was heavenly! Spacious, clean and comfortable.

Food options nearby are a bit limited but we found a good spot for a light lunch then a nice steakhouse.

The staff prepared a wonderful breakfast.

We highly recommend this B&B

Stayed for one night only as a stop over to our main destination. Nothing fancy but perfect for a 1 night stay. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Tasty breakfast in the morning before we left. Bathrooms and showers could do with a serious upgrade. Hair in shower was unsightly. Mould at the corners of showers. Didn't meet any staff but they were well organised and left our keys at another B&B.

I arranged late check in when booking which was confirmed via email. On arrival around 11pm, we spent over an hour calling reception to open the gate so we could check in. No response. We then went to go buy food at the nearest KFC and come back to try check in. Eventually we get a response from a certain Werner who says he doesn't know anything about a booking and that in any case there check in closes at midnight and we were 10 minutes late and therefore he could not help us. We were therefore stuck in a strange Town, at midnight. We had no choice but to sleep at a garage and drive early morning. Appalling that no one called to make sure we are still coming before closing. Never mind that we specifically arranged for a late check-in.

Very comfortable and clean accommodation. We were welcomed by the friendly owners who went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms are spacious, clean and the shower warm. It is also extremely reasonably priced.
For us, it’s the only place to stay in Piet Retief!

I start feeling rested from te moment I arrive. I'd recommend Chateau B&B to any one traveller for business. And the WiFi actually works. Bedding is comfortable and the rooms have air-conditioning. Just a short ride to a lovely restaurant and your morning breakfast is just the same. My #1 choice in Piet Retief.

We booked the self catering family room for one night only and were pleasantly surprised with a lovely room with all facilities in good order I.e. DSTV, Wifi. The room is decorated beautifully and enough warm linen and extra blankets provided. Very friendly staff at reception, security and housekeeping. Safe parking is provided. Will definitely recommend for a one night stopover.

Lin who welcomed us, made us feel at home and was very helpful and went out of her way to make everything as comfortable as possible. Negative point is that there is 10 room, but parking for only 6-7 vehicles. Parking on the outside of the guesthouse is available, but on own risk and nowadays no one wants to park in the street. Another thing, there is an open space opposite the guest house and locals have their parties there on Fridays and Saturdays, leaving the place in a mess and the music was quite disturbing. Smoking area in front of rooms which might accommodate non-smokers, is also a negative aspect. These 3 negativities is unfortunate for an otherwise clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay.

The room was not clean, dust on the floor, the toilet still had slip marks from the correction, the shower was dirty. We had booked 4 rooms, got 3. It was resolved. There is a park in front of the door where cars are parked and loud music is played. This was gone in the evening. Breakfast was really sad. Delivered the night before. Bread was very dry, gas station quality. There was no fresh coffee and the breakfast room was closed. Everything was quite dated. It's ok for just sleeping, but there's probably something better nearby.
