We were upgraded from the hotel to the Oribi Cottage and it was lovely!!! We made use of the spa, which we will definitely be coming back for!!! Our jacuzzi in our cottage was just too hot, otherwise everything was excellent! The restaurant was not open sadly, but we will be back to try that out, looks beautiful!

We booked at the very last minute for Valentines and the spa was fully booked, the Skyfall restaurant was fully booked. Onwaba the assistant general manager was amazing. She accommodated us with a booking for the spa (which was relaxing and very clean) and even squeezed in a dinner reservation at Skyfall (the food was excellent) . I would highly recommend the romantic picnic, the food is delicious and the entire set up is relaxed and peaceful (this was the highlight for me). The hotel rooms are average in comparison to other hotels and need a make over but it was clean. we had an issue with the water on the first day and Onwaba gladly changed our room and even discounted the night for the inconvenience. The gardens are beautiful, peaceful and if you looking to get away and relax then i highly recommend this destination.

What was supposed to be a romantic, quiet getaway, turned into something Unforgettable - as it was so BAD. Would rather stay at home than waste money here. Not much good I can say about this place. First room smelly, dirty carpet, just NO! Upgraded cottage a bit better, but not much. Very close to highway ( like staying at a truck stop inn). Noisy! Industrial fan in room even more noisy. Shoddy maintenance. As for having a nice intimate dinner in the fine dining restaurant - not so much with being watched by CCTV.

Response from Brahman Hills Hotel, General Manager at Brahman Hills

Dear Stef Van Der Westhuizen, Thank you for your recent stay with us on the 22nd January 2021, and the time taken to share your experience and feedback. This is well received, and most welcome. I am deeply saddened that your experience outlined in your feedback was a disappointing one. Please accept my sincerest apologies that our product and noted facilities did not meet your expectations, and left you feeling as expressed in your review. This is definitely not how we would like our guests to feel about us and their experience with us. On the count of the fining experience and being watched on CCTV; unfortunately this point is untrue as it does not reflect the truth and reality of this experience and interaction; and I would like to highlight the following: 1. You dined in our Skyfall Restaurant on the evening of your stay. 2. You ordered a redtizer. Upon service, the waiter serving you noticed you were drinking red wine, and reported this to the manager on duty that you were drinking wine. At a time when consumption of alcohol was banned as per Presidential instruction. Drinking of alcohol in a restaurant/hotel establishment was essentially illegal in this time. 3. The duty manager approached you and asked if you were drinking wine; to which your partner did not deny and confirmed yes. The duty manager asked to kindly finish what was in your glass, and do not proceed to consume as a) it was not allowed b) other guests would think that we sold you the wine c) we could get a hefty fine for contravening the law The response was received as understood; and the manager walked away. 4. However it was not received and understood; and the lady accompanying you approached our duty manager and caused a scene in the restaurant (in the presence of other guest and staff) aggressively shouting at her about why she would not allow you to drink the wine, and accusing her of watching you on the camera - as how could she have known that you were drinking. She further made comments that our establishment was ridiculous not allowing you to drink, as other restaurants in Durban let you drink. a) our duty managers have no access to the camera b) cameras exist in establishments for the safety and security of our people, guests and facilities - not to watch our guests. You chose to leave the restaurant, as you were not allowed to drink illegally. This is okay, and we respect our guests choices and decisions, always. One of our values is disciplined; and by no means will we break the law or enable it to be broken in our facilities. I am sorry that your intimate dinner experience was not what you hoped it to be; and perhaps now that alcohol is permitted; you may visit our Skyfall Restaurant in the near future; for an amazing an memorable experience. Brahman Love

The restaurant was closed and we had to go outside for supper and breakfast that was such a turn off. Had we been told we would have booked somewhere else. Went to the Spa venue, there was not even a proper greeting and welcome. We almost felt like we were bothering them by being there. No communication, no attention just unfriendly staff. The actual spa treatment was really good, the therapist did a great job with zero customer service. If you go there know that to them you are just a number, you are not special not even if it's your birthday. The ladies there are just there to do their jobs.

Dear Ms Nzuza, thank you for your recent stay at our beautiful home, and the care taken to share your experience with us. thank you for taking my call briefly. I sincerely apologize that we did not rightfully manage your expectations regarding available facilities prior to your stay. This has been covered with my reservations team, in order to improve guest expectation by communicating updated facility operations during this time, to our guests. It saddens me to read the feedback of how we have made you feel, following the experience at the Spa. This does not reflect how we would like our guests to feel when they have been with us, as love and passion is one of our key values. We value every single guests; I am sorry that we missed the opportunity for this to translate into action in your experience. Your feedback has been shared with our team, in order to improve and learn from this experience. Thank you for caring enough about us to tell us the truth. We appreciate it. Brahman Love

Very good location -- perfect stop over -- great facilities -- just a pity -- possibly ue to 2020 & Covid -- lacks some general maintenance, Patio decking and glass protection shields -- awesome to use, but unpleasant due to condition
