Well worth a meander in the beautiful and evocative Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, this stunning country lodge, masterfully crafted in wood and stone, is just a few minutes from the busy N3 Freeway, and a world apart from the chaos and cares of the city. Set in expansive grounds, overlooking tall trees and a dam, FarSide oozes old-world graciousness and charm, combined with a certain quirkiness of spirit that is evident in the name alone. The accommodation is luxuriously comfortable, and the bedroom fittings include an inviting ball-and-claw bath for that extra touch of indulgence. A leisurely breakfast, warmly prepared and served with a smile, adds the B to the B that makes the FarSide such a welcoming pleasure for a short or lingering stay on the way to or from the coast. The FarSide Manor is a Premium, Four Bedroomed Boutique B&B. The house is built from Masoned Grey Sandstone and detailed with Old Wooden Doors and Windows. The rooms are Extremely Comfortable, Warm and Homely. From Luxurious Deep ‘Ball and Claw’ Baths to Magnificent Antique Furniture, you will be transported to another world while getting lost in South Africa’s beautiful Country Side. As Nottingham Road can get real chilly at any time of the year (which is worth remembering) we also have Electric Blankets, Under-Carpet Heating and a Huge Log Fireplace in the Lounge. World Class Breakfast Under Floor Heating & Electric Blankets TV with DSTV Deep Ball and Claw Bath & Shower Premium Filter Coffee Station WiFi Internet Daily Housekeeping Honesty Bar Pool Table & Dart Board Stunning Common Lounge with Fireplace No children under the age of 12 Years, unless you book the entire house (4 Rooms) [Exclusivity]. Quiet hours between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Excellent stopover just off the beaten track. Friendly hosts being Graham who owns it, and Ryan his son who runs the place.
Great accomodation. It's a small establishment with only a few rooms. We were in room 2 with an in room bath and separate shower and toilet. Lovely comfortable bed and good quality linen and bath towels.
Loved the honesty bar and common area downstairs, plus the friendly Jack Russel.
Amos cooked a great breakfast and even although there was load shedding there was no disruption to service.
Only negative being there weren't any good restaurants in the vicinity for dinner unless you drove all the way back to Nottingham Road.

Great stay with family. It was a lovely home from home atmosphere. The “World Class Breakfast “ was a big disappointment as it was very mediocre. There were no health breads, pastries etc. The rooms were beautiful and it was clean. The family enjoyed time around the fire, playing pool and darts….. and watching some World Cup Rugby.

It was a real treat to stay at the Far Side Farm. The charm and warmth of this Manor House is felt as you drive down the tree-lined driveway and walk into the lamp-lit entrance and lounge, with crackling fire. The room I stayed in was beautiful and particularly well appointed with attention to all details.
Ryan is an exemplary Host and attentive to the needs of his Guests. Breakfast is delicious and lovingly presented by the fabulous Chef.
The ambiance of this Lodge is just what one yearns for in a Country Escape - deep couches, beautiful coffee table books, art works depicting country vistas and in the surrounds of spectacular farm land. I highly recommend this special spot.

My fiancé and I stayed here during the week while scouting out wedding venues in the midlands area. Olivia gave us an impromptu tour of the wedding facilities and impressed us with her extensive knowledge. Our room was large, clean and had everything we needed. Our breakfast made by Graham was superb and he was kind enough to share his knowledge of the property and his family with us. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at the FarSide Farm for 3 nights. The feel was super cozy, especially with the fire place roaring in the big salon. If you like to read, there are plenty of good books while you could enjoy a cup of hot tea (or beer from the honesty bar) in front of the fire. Besides the wonderful team of staff (Olivia, Abel and the ladies who did our laundries), we were accompanied by 2 cats and 4 dogs, all were super friendly, adorable and made our time more special there.

Everything inside the room were functional, a bed we would like to have in our home, and the decor were quaint and classy. We had fun playing pool and darts, and the pets always kept us entertained. We enjoyed our daily breakfasts which were plentiful, healthy and very appetising. Chapeau to Abel! Lots of private parking and a quick drive into Nottingham Road, where you could find dining of all categories.

The manor is on a beautiful property and in a good location if you wish to visit the Midlands Meander region. There are several routes you could drive, to reach selective shopping (arts & crafts) and dining. We also went to the Mandela Capture Site and Monument. Olivia will gladly provide you with all the informative materials.

We are from Switzerland, and the Midlands Meander is just beautiful and reminds us of home. Just go and see and stay at the FarSide Farm for a better than great experience!

The Farside farm was our chosen stop-over on the way back from my husband competing in the Sani to Sea mountanbike race. (May 16th - 19th 2013) We thought a couple of days in the Midlands would provide a well needed break from both the cycling and the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. What a fabulous find! Superb, luxurious accommodation, 5-star breakfasts and a professional, relaxed and serene atmosphere. Our host Graham was friendly and relaxed and really on top of the "B & B" game. We had not booked a place to dine on the night we arrived and Graham, without taking a breath, treated us to a delicious three-course meal cooked by his chef daughter - excellent.
The manor is elegantly furnished with top-class linen, under-floor heating and electric blankets. All switched on for you early evening so one returns to a warm, cosy room after a day touring in the misty cool Natal Midlands. We were made to feel at home and welcome and highly reccommend this B & B!! Thank you Graham for a fabulous stay

If you are looking to stay in the Nottingham Road area in the Midlands, The FarSide Manor B & B is a must, I had the most amazing weekend staying in the Dam Cottage, my expectations were fairly high after perusing their webpage, but it was more than I had expected. The area and views were something special and the tranquillity was second to none. The cottage which is more like a small house was full furnished with everything down to extra quality blankets, a huge fireplace and an exceptionally well equipped kitchen.
I could sit and write pages on why you should stay at this beautiful and outstanding setting but have one comment to make: If you want an incredible place to stay, this is it!

My wife and I stayed at the Manor for 3 nights at the end of January 2021, during a more severe stage of the dreaded lockdown. The manor is marvellous. It is nestled perfectly within the Midlands Meander, surrounded by beautiful flora and rolling hills. It is located about 2km off the N3, but far enough away to be noise free. The building itself has that old English look and feel, with a stone façade and antique wooden furniture. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Our room had a shower and a romantic ‘in-room’ bathtub. The rooms also have plenty of storage space… Something that I have come to appreciate! I hate having to live out of a suitcase and have my luggage strewn all over the room. The FarSide offers a delicious and quite customizable breakfast. My wife has quite a strange and restricted diet; and not only did they cater for her but surprised her with surprisingly delicious and healthy options. The owner, Graham, looked after us for our stay and was the perfect host. He is quite the all-rounder; so be sure to pick his brain about… well anything! For me, the special treats at the FarSide were the all-natural breakfast (even the eggs are from chickens on the property), the signature sour-dough bread and the extreme hospitality. Five green dots from us. By the way, be sure to check out Graham’s unique paintings.
