The cottages are simple but clean and cosy. Full mod-cons and lovely gardens within the property.

The owners of Kildare farm are incredibly kind and hospitable hosts who made our weekend stay even more memorable.

Good value for money for a simple weekend away in the Natal Midlands.

Easy to find, the farm is just off the N3. While the traffic from the highway can't be heard, the farm is adjacent to a busy road and we noticed the noise from trucks and other big vehicles. But that was the only (small) downside.

The cottages are clean and well equipped.

We were attending a wedding - so spent most of the time away from the cottages.

Our host was friendly and efficient.

Room Tip: The ten cottages are located in two rows of 5, so you may want to ask for one at the end of a row...

As a large Family group we wanted somewhere easy to access, close to the Wedding venue and offering budget value. This was fine. Laura the manager greeted us and spent time ensuring we settled in well. We occupied 5 double rooms and the main house at the top of the site, which was particularly useful as we could all gather together there for breakfasts and a couple of evening meals over the 4 days we stayed.
The nearby R Road is surprisingly busy but hardly a problem.

My future fiance and I arrived at Kildare, unannounced and unaccounted for at the tail end of a two week visit through SAfrica. This is the farm I was blessed enough to grow up on for a few years when I was a toddler, and I wanted to go back there and see what it was like now - and propose to my girlfriend.

After meeting our hosts, we were accommodated and shown to our place to stay. For us, it was a breath of fresh air with no superfluous niceties (just come from Zimbali) and yet all the little things we wanted. Good, solid down to earth comfortable accommodations in a setting that still makes me pine for it today.

We spent a couple days there and it was a small slice of heaven. Views that capture your heart, peace and quiet, an abundance of happiness - and fun to see the "coos" and even lone zebra (though we felt sorry for it). The boerbulls were super to play with and our hostess made sure we had everything we needed. If I went to KZN Midlands again, you now know where I'd hang my hat for that time. (ps: we travelled in 2013)

Easily accessed, simple, well equipped (with the exception of a coffee making device) cottages close to the freeway. Better suited to an overnight stop over than a weekend getaway. Proximity to the main road makes for a bit of traffic noise, but quick access to the Midlands. Well priced and willing to let the cottages for just one night.
